Lord Byron look around as he walked, trying to find a familiar face. He spotted Dodger and Lexi leading in the front with Jack and Prince, and he spotted Piper amid the crowd willing to do her part to help. In the distance, in the back of the crowd he spotted Avalanche trying to catch up. Byron turned around and made his way to the back to join his Brooklyn friend, unconsciously needing someone he knew to fight along side him. He had left Shamrock and Pallet safely behind so he wouldn't have to worry about either of them. But, he had left them, leaving harsh words between Pallet and himself. Even though they weren't together any more, she was still worried about what would happen to him because they were still friends. He was afraid he wouldn't get to tell her sorry...
Byron fell into step beside Avalanche, giving him a weak smile, and a pat on the back, silently telling him he appreciated seeing him even under such bad circumstances and telling him in a manly way that he needed someone he could fight along side of because he was secretly afraid...

Avalanche looked up as Byron was coming back to meet him. He slowed his roll only a little. Now that someone knew he was there he didn't have to worry about rushing so intensely! Though he still walked quickly to keep up with the massive movement migrating towards the work house. "Hi there," he said nodding to his friend. "Hope everything is going alright with you," he said. Though he really didn't expect much of an answer, it was really more of a rhetorical question.
Avalanche, in his mind, had already assigned himself a position. And his position was go where he was needed. If someone needed a door broken down, he'd help, though he'd rather avoid the front lines. Not that he wasn't willing, but it seemed to him, with his strength and speed, he'd be better suited for getting people out rather than fighting. Carrying away the captured, the hurt... that was his job... or so he decided.

Byron shook his head and solemnly stared forward. He cleared his throat and frowned. "In all honesty mate, I'm not sure I have it in me to end someone's life, like everyone's talking about doing, if the time comes. I'm a lover, not a fighter..." he whispered to Avalanche. "I need to be here to help, but how much help will I be if I can't do that?"
Byron was terrified that if it came down to having to kill someone to help a kid get away, that he wouldn't be able to do it. And that could cost more lives than just his... He clenched his empty fist and shoved it in his pocket, and his other hand clasped the pipe in his other hand tighter.

Avalanche nodded. "So don't fight like that," he said. "If ya don't go in with a weapon, and don't pick one up, do it all in self-defense, use ya fists. It'll be harder to do damage, but the less likely that you'll actually kill a guy.
"Me on the other hand," Avalanche said. "I plan to just help out where I can. Go in and bring out people, and then go back in... kinda like a fire fighter ya know? I don't wanna do the fighting, there are pleanty doin' that. I think I'll do what I can when I can. Even if it's stay out here and help people who have been badly hurt. Feel free to join me, if ya like," Avalanche said good naturedly, trying to help his friend see that it was okay night to be the one doin' the damage, but instead, doing some of the repair work.

Byron looked down at the pipe in his hand and back up at Avalanche. Then, he grabbed one of the younger kids passing them, by his collar, and handed him the pipe before releasing him. Then he turned back to Avalanche, "Sounds like a good idea, mate." He shoved his now empty hands in his pockets.
The workhouse loomed in the distance ahead and Byron's body grew tenser as the drew closer. His brow furrowed and he inhaled and exhaled a deep breath. "Well, no turning back now..."

Valerie Cartwright gasped, seeing Bryon handing the pipe off to the younger boy, from down the street. Brow furrowed with a mind to give him a piece of her own, she grabbed her yellow skirts up to walk faster over to the pair, "Young man, are you out of your mind, giving a boy like that--" She stopped, seeing the fight breaking out further down the street, and was left speechless, but surprisingly didn't turn away in disgust, or fear. Instead she looked to Avalanche and Bryon, "What on earth is going on?"

Avalanche nodded to Byron. He was about to respond when Valerie came out of no where. He didn't know who she was, he didn't know where she'd come from, he didn't know how she got here!
"Pardon me miss," she didn't look the type to hang around Newsies. "But are you lost?" Considering the newsies had followed the rail road tracks. Since trains had been leaving late at night they had to follow the tracks to find where everyone was located. He kinda wondered where she had come from.

She ignored his question, looking a bit sour, not wanting to confess she'd fallen dead asleep on one of the trains and forced to stay in the station until the next train left that would accommodate her. She looked rather tired and the next train wouldn't leave for another hour. But noticing a strange pattern of kids following the tracks, she had gotten a little curious. How the other half lived, one might say.
"I believe I asked you first," She spoke, lifting her chin ever so, in case the two had any ideas. They didn't quiet look the sort though.

Byron turned and gave Avalanche a look of confusion and shock and turned back to the stranger. What was this lady doing here, amidst a bunch of newsies on their way to fight? Especially one of her class...? "Um... Sorry, ma'am" Byron removed his hat out of courtesy, "we don't mean to be rude, but it's a newsie thing. Nothing a lady such as yourself should part of..." he explained in his English accent, trying to be polite but vague since they had no clue who this lady was or why she was following them.
Byron look the woman up and down, taking in her appearance. She definitely wasn't a newsie, she didn't even look like anyone who would want to be associated with them. So, what was she doing here, and why was she following them? Was she associated with the people who had taken the kids? He gave Avalanche another curious look, shrugging his shoulders, and turning his attention back to their tag-along.

Avalanche looked to the young woman as well. "My apologies," he added. He hadn't meant to be rude either, he really thought she was lost or something! He glanced at Byron and shrugged back at his shrug.
"We have a sort of... get together going on," he explained. Not fully the truth, not fully a lie. "It may not be the safest of places at this time," he added, not wanting her to go plunging into the fray. Had she gotten killed, and if she really was of upper class someone would look for her... and then everyone would be in trouble!

"Get together?" She looked as if she didn't believe them for a second. Not after seeing Byron hand the pipe to the small boy. "A get together. I could have all of you arrested." She said, then immediately regretted it. Way out here, no police even remotely around? She looked down, almost apologetic, then, "Does this have to do with those kidnappings?"

Avalanche nodded solemnly. "Yes Ma'am," he said quietly. "We're trying to get our loved ones back home safe while doing as little damage as possible," he was afraid she would call the cops. So many people would be in trouble. He couldn't do that. He hoped she could understand what was happening here, and not be worried about it. He hoped.

Byron could hear the fighting going on up ahead. He gave Avalanche a worried look and then turned his attention to the woman beside them, "Ma'am, our friends are up ahead fighting to get our friends and family back. It's something that HAS to be done, not something we WANT to do. Now, we don't mean to be rude but our friends are probably hurt or worse, they need our help up there, ma'am, so we need to get going..."
Byron nudged Avalanche in the side with his elbow and picked up his pace. He could see in the distance people fighting and kids and men laying on the ground. His heart rate began to pick up.
(We should probably move this along and get posting about them at the fight)

((Sorry guys!!))
Valerie's mouth dropped open slightly, hearing the both of them. Obviously the police had taken no action. They were right, something had to be done. She looked to where Byron did, the fighting already in full swing. She gasped slightly never having seen more than those filthy boxing shows out near the lower park sometimes. She avoided them as often as she could. They were grotesque.
She shook herself from looking at the boys and men on the ground, some as badly beaten as those boxers. She felt a bit of indignation rise up again, "And do you all just plan to fight? Or were you smart enough to organize some type of medical aide? The kind of weapons they're using..." She saw a blonde boy swinging at a larger man's knees. Valerie realized she had seen him before. His glasses were gone now, though. "You boys are going to get yourselves killed... and do some--"
Valerie gave a small yelp, hearing a gun go off and instinctively ducked a bit behind Avalanche, whom she was nearest, grabbing his arm.

Avalanche then decided it was time for him to take control over the situation. "Byron," he instructed, "go see if anyone needs help." He was not taking no for an answer. At this rate, who knew who was hurt, who was missing, and what was going on, and he wouldn't stand for them needing another set of hands, and that set of hands protecting someone it's never met. "Go on," he said again before turning back to Valerie
"Ma'am," he said trying to calm her down even though she had a death grip on his arm. "We have people in the city who are ready and waiting for us to come home with wounded. We've set that up ahead of time," he told her. "This isn't a safe place right now, we realize that," he said in a very calm and soothing tone. Avalanche had always had that fatherly voice about him, though he usually didn't act his age, when the time called for it he became quite the grown up. "We know what we are getting ourselves into," he added. "All I ask is that you please take care of yourself, don't go diving in and getting yourself hurt too, and most of all, do not tell the police." Even with his hint of accent thrown in, he still sounded rather intelligent at this moment.
