Evie had brought the books out with her when she came to get some lunch at Stu's. She'd never considered that running a business would take up so much of her time but it was well spent. On top of her books selling people seemed to want to buy the flower arrangements she had made for the front entry.
Brushing a strand of her dark hair over her shoulder she lifted her tea to her lips and continued writing in the ledger. So much to do and so very little time to get it all done in. She hadn't seen Robert in days, she hadn't thought about it actually. Though she forced herself to believe he was alright.
She hadn't seen Jim either, though she wasn't sure if it was a welcome surprise or not. She could be a tad bit bitter when it came to him, they both sat on opposite sides of the fence shouting the same things over and over again. She couldn't stop herself from fighting with him or making a joke at his expense.. he deserved it all in her mind. But she had to admit, she deserved his bites too.
"He's just a bloody ninny.." she said with a nod, wondering why in the devil he came to her mind at a time like this. It was silly. She should just write him off like she did so many others. But she was failing.. she couldn't bring herself to write the damn man off. Because he was right in a lot of ways.

((New Day))
Lanna hadn't heard that Dodger had decreed everyone stay in groups. But she was reading over the last paper she had humming softly as she waited for her lunch, brushing her golden curls behind her ear she was oblivious to all the chaos that was happening around her. She hadn't been around long enough and she always seemed to miss people when they were talking about it.
She'd gone back to school many times, trying to see if there had been any news but the door had just been slammed in her face and she sighed. "This just ain't workin right.."

Reid walked up the street with his hands shoved deep in his pockets. He had to go pick his sister up from work and it was something he wasn't looking forward to. He knew he shouldn't mind but honestly at this point all he wanted to do was sell his papes and lay in his bunk. As he turned a corner he saw a familiar blonde, curly haired girl and for a moment forgot about what was going on in his life and smiled bigger than he had in awhile. He hadn't seen her in what seemed like forever but he'd never forgotten their encounter. In fact, he wondered occassionally if she was still with that boyfriend of hers. Walking over he couldn't help his smile growing larger the closer he got, "Alanna..."

Her head lifted and she beamed at him, "Reid!" oh yes she remembered and no she was single. She hadn't though about the here nor there since things had spiraled out of control in her life. She'd avoided the lodging house and now.. well she was wondering if that had been wise. "How are ya?" she sounded so southern, the tone in her voice, the way it flowed.. and she was proud of where she was from.

Reid grinned, "Better now. Do you mind if I sit?" He didn't want to impost if she was having a quiet moment to herself. He knew how precious those moments could be in the world they lived in. Especially these days with everyone up in arms about the kidnappings.

She waved for him to sit and ran her hand threw her hair, "Are we goin yet?" She was nervous about this but she was willing to do whatever she could to help. They needed the people and, well she didn't want Reid or Dodger even to go alone. Not like they were but, she felt she needed to be there.

Reid sat and ran a hand through his hair at her question, "Soon. What have you been doing with yourself? I feel like it's been awhile since I've seen you." Then again Reid hadn't really been around much himself but he wanted to keep his mind off that for the moment. It was so nice seeing Alanna again because for some reason when she was around he couldn't focus on anything but her. It was like his world shrank and she was the only one in the room.

It had been awhile but she softened and smiled at him, "A long time I think. I've been trying ta get things settled at the school but no such luck." she looked at him and her eyes softened. "How are you really holdin up Reid?" With Perry gone, she knew that he hadn't really been around much.

Reid looked to the side, his eyes darkening when she brought up Perry. He swallowed roughly before he looked back at her. "As well as I can....it's my fault you know." Reid hadn't said that to anyone, not even Lexi, but Alanna made him comfortable and he wanted to tell her all his thoughts. He knew she'd probably say it wasn't but it really was his fault. He was entrusted with his brother for a measly eight hours and he couldn't even keep him safe during that time.

Her brow raised and she sighed, shaking her head. Blond curls bouncing as she turned and folded her arms across her chest. "Reid, it's not your fault. It was no ones fault, darlin. Just something that happened. But, it'll be alright.. " At least she prayed it would be alright. She reached over and took his hand in hers, tugging him to his feet. "Come on.."

Reid stood when she pulled his hand and nodded his head a bit, "Yeah, maybe." He prayed everything would be alright. He was going crazy without his brother around to ask him a million different questions. As much as the kid pestered him he loved him more than anything in the world and he wanted him safely at home.

"I'll be with you," how could she put him at ease when even she wasn't confident that things were going to work out. A dire look settled over her face for a moment. "It will be okay.." She wasn't a fighter, and she knew it. Really she would just get in the way if she went into the battle but she was going to help wounded the best she could. Get them off and hidden if she could manage and keep track. She was at least good at something with all that schooling. Even if it wasn't fighting.
She could at least keep track of people when others were to busy.

Reid stared at her, "I don't want you to be hurt." And he meant those words with every fiber of his being. He wouldn't be able to stand it if anything happened to her. "Maybe you should stay here." He didn't want her to be mad but he had enough on his mind and he didn't want to have to worry about her health.

She opened her mouth to argue before she frowned, southern girls were always ready to fight for a cause. But she held his hand still and thought about what he said, he was right. Her eyes focused on the ground between them and she knew she was useless in a fight, "I-- I know but.. I can help somehow.."
