He made sure he hit first and laughed, holding her close and kissing her soundly. He could not wait to make Maggie his wife and why should he? She was everything he wanted-- his partner. "I love you, Mags.."

Maggie grinned and kissed him back. "I love you too, you stupid ass of a boy, Benji." She looked up, seeing the manager coming, scowling.
"Oh that's our exit. I want to see my ring!" She scrambled up, laughing, grabbing Benji's hands. "Come on!"

He let her help him up and nodded, taking both of her hands and bolting. "Come on Maggie Mae I'll show you your ring-- " It was magic in a way. And he was a happy bloke. So damn happy he could hardly see.

>>>NEW DAY<<< Manhattan refilled the salt and pepper shakers one by one methodically, not giving much thought to the work she knew like the back of her hand. Ok she didnt really pay much attention to the back of her hand so she couldnt really say she knew it well but that was besides the point. She was really getting around the boroughs these days, working the odd shifts for the newsies that were out of play. Friends. She shook her head, as her hand faltered and salt covered her tray. She wouldnt think of that, she wouldnt think of them that way. But if she was honest there was one borough she was avoiding the most. Home. But who said she was being honest right now.
Throwing a pinch of salt over her shoulder she wiped the rest away.

Mush had come down to Queens to give some of the kids a hand there. They seemed to have so many people flying around Manhattan these days he came to this are to help out other friends. And with Nike being so hurt, and Dez gone completely... as well as a few others who he had been friends with... he was keeping his mind off of it by getting involved with those who still had a fighting chance. So here he was, on a food run for a few of the Queens kids who had been working over night, making sure people were okay, and getting attention that needed it. He saw Manhattan there, and wondered why she was in this area. He felt badly for her when he saw her hands not quite as steady as usual. He headed over to her. "Hey there girly," he said in a calm and soothing voice. "Can I buy ya dinnah?" he asked in both a charming and gentle tone.

Manhattan smiled but didnt look up. The familiar faces were like pins in her heart, especially when there were fresh hurts still on them, so she avoided looking at them at all cost. That way she could pretend everything was fine. That nothing happened. "Dont think ya can afford me. Try the broad at the table on the left. She might give ya da time of day Mush."

He smiled a little more and put his arm around her shoulders in a comforting way. "C'mon now girly," he said giving her a gentle hug. "I'd break the bank to afford you," he said encouragingly. "Take a break from work, take a load off... sit and talk with me a bit while I wait for some food ta get cooked?" he asked her hopefully. For One, he didn't want to sit alone, and two he didn't want her looking sad, it was no fun, and no good for her either. He figured at least this way both of them could get something semi-positive out of the experience.

"Hmmm break da bank will ya? Moah like rob it." Manhattan twisted the last salt cap on and dusted off her hands, she made sure her trademark crooked smile was in place before turning around. "No one would expect babyface Meyers." "How about some grub to chew on while ya wait?"

"Yes please," he said with a nod. "Only if ya'll join me," he nearly insisted. He gave her an encouraging smile, but even Mush's never fail happy go lucky attitude was dashed a little. It wasn't that he was sad, or any less energetic, he was softer, gentler at the moment than he usually was. He took his hyperactivity and toned it down to a dull roar, just enough to try and raise people's spirits. Though he understood it was a solemn time, those who were lost were to be mourned but also joyfully remembered, and he intended to make sure that their happy spirits were never forgotten.

Manhattan smiled at his immediate yes to her offer of food. Her Manhattan boys never turned down a free meal. Its probably one of the reasons she wormed her way into their hearts. She could never charge them. "Of course can't let this lovely frame of mine whittle away to nothing."
She went in back ignoring Ramano's yelling. The big loud italian was in a foul mood. Then again he always was. Instead she sweetly smiled at him "Mi amor you know i love you." and walked out with a big basket of fries without so much a by your leave. There was stunned silence met with loud curses and banging of pans.
Placing the fries in front of Mush she grabbed him a coke and sat opposite of him took a sip before pushing it towards him, making no move to eat. Putting her feet up and leaning her head back with a sigh. She picked up on his gentle tones and smiled sardonically. Everyone changed during these damn time. "Its not Tibby's but the big dumb italian is starting to trust my judgement when it comes to cooking." Manhattan was known for mettling with peoples food to fit their personalities and taste. Even down right changing the order without their ok. And she was good at it too. "Better than Stu, he wont even let me in the kitchen."

Mush chuckled. "I ain't seen ya around the lodgin' house back in Manhattan ya know? I thought maybe you'd moved down here. Not that I'da blame you. I mean, if ya like workin' here better than Tibby's up in hattan, and I know the leadah down here is a piece of work," he said with a shrug. "But if you can handle 'im..." he chuckled a little. "Thanks for the food," he said taking a couple and eating them happily. "Here, have some, they're for you too." He knew people had a tendency not to eat when they were sad, or focused on other things too much to eat... it wasn't healthy in his mind. It just seemed as though if you didn't eat you'd probably die. He didn't want people starving. So he was making all of his loved ones eat something. He felt it was an obligation to them as a friend.

Manhattan laughed as Mush rambled. Same old Mush. "Nah havent moved...dere's just a lot of shifts dat need ta be picked up and all. Blink tracked me down in Bronx da othah day. Swear that kid is part blood hound for where hattan is when he wants free food." Manhattan joked not giving the complete story as she took a couple of fries and munched on them. "Been busy, havent made it back yet." She shrugged. She hadnt been back at all not even after escaping.

He nodded to her a little bit. "Glad you made it out safe," he said gazing at her a moment. "...Manhattan," he said quietly. He knew some less than ideal things had gone on there, he didn't know what, but he knew that for the most part, the children hadn't been treated well, and he was upset about that. He was upset that she'd been captured herself. "We miss ya back home," he said. "Why duncha come on back?" he asked. He didn't know why she hadn't come home, he wanted to know. He wanted to help her, he wanted to make her feel safe again, just like he was sure people wanted to do all over New York. Make people feel happy and safe again.

Manhattan punched him. "Ya miss my free food." She grinned crookedly at him before she sobered up at his look. "I dont know if i can mush." She shook her head. She didnt know if she could meet their eyes if she went back. She loved that Mush thought they all missed her, that he wanted to help. They had Sweets back. They didnt need her, not right now. She didnt know if she was strong enough to come back.

"What do ya mean?" he asked rather taken aback. "It ain't so hard really," he said. "I mean ya just start walkin' that direction, before ya know it you'll be right back on our door step, and all the guys will be glad ta see ya home, and welcome ya with open arms, I promise. Heck, if ya want I'll even walk with ya!" he said enthusiastically. He sighed a little bit, but the smile was on his face for a moment at least until it faded slightly. "Why can't ya come home?" he asked, now wanting an answer for sure, rather than him just making it seem as easy as walking a little distance.
