Alice Roosevelt was busy trying to get away from her family...but what else was new? Each time her father had the bright idea to take them somewhere, Alice found that she was having such a terrible time that she would take any excuse at all to get out of there. It was even better if she could get out of there without having to give an excuse: in other words, sneak away when her father and stepmother were preoccupied. This was what she had done this time, and she stole away quietly when she knew she wouldn't be missed: Quentin was making a fuss, and everyone loved making a big show over the youngest child. Alice took the opportunity to leave the rest of her family without looking back.
The Governor had been doing some kind of business in the Bronx, and so he thought it would be a smart idea to take his family to Pelham Bay Park (no doubt so that some newspaperman passing by would see the dear Governor with his loving family). But Alice refused to be a part of her father's public image. The seventeen-year-old, unfamiliar with the Bronx, found herself wandering around until she came to Webster Avenue.
Although people would look at her in her fine clothes and hat, Alice acted as if she belonged. She could act like she belonged anywhere, for the feeling that she belonged nowhere. After exploring the avenue for a short time, she stumbled up on an alleyway, where a young man sat, smoking a cigarette. Alice had stumbled upon him, and was undoubtedly noticed. She glanced at him and mumbled, "Pardon me..."

Alice watched as he pulled his legs toward him, allowing her to pass. Although not unfriendly, Alice was currently not in the best mood. She rolled her eyes a bit and said, her voice tainted with sarcasm, "Of course, I stumble upon the one that doesn't talk..."

*NEW DAY*
Reid leaned back against the wall of the alley way as he took a deep drink from the bottle in his hand. At this point he didn't even know how he'd come up with the money for it. All he knew was that he needed to keep drinking because if he didn't the memories would start coming back. He couldn't help but blame his sister for all of the problems they were facing right now. He was going to end up in a factory and judging by the argument they got into today she didn't seem to care.
It had all started when neither one of them could find Perry. His sister had broken down into tears, convinced herself that something horrible had happened to him. When Reid had tried to comfort her and say that he had probably just wondered off and met a friend she had shoved him and told him how incredibly naive he was. He had retaliated by firmly putting the blame on her letting her know all the things he'd bottled up since she had come home that night in Jersey City.
He had told her in no uncertain terms exactly what a horrible person he thought she was. Not only could she not control her actions but she put them all in danger by gambling with the sorts of people she had. Now they were out for blood and god only knows what would happen to Perry if they were the ones that had found him. Almost immediately after he'd said it he'd regretted it and felt he deserved the black eye she'd given him right before she burst into another rush of tears. Now he was picking up one of her bad habits and getting himself completely and utterly drunk.

Aqua was walking into an alley to relax. She was just frustrated over the strike, but everyone was. She took a deep breath and let it out.
Still walking along, she saw a boy who didn't appear like he was from Queens, but she was in the Bronx, so that didn't matter. Getting a closer look at him, she gasped, he had a black eye.
"Are you okay?" She asked, with concern in her eyes.

Reid looked at Aqua when she spoke to him, his gaze was slightly blurry so he didn't get the best look at her. "Fine...jist fabboloos..." His words slurred slightly and she shook his head trying to clear it from its muddled state. He didn't usually get drunk and it was affecting him worse than he thought it would. But he thought if he could clear his mind a little bit he'd be able to control it.

Aqua bit her lip and tried to stop herself from laughing. She could obviously tell that Reid was a little drunk, but decided not to mention it. "I think ya should sit down for a while." She put her hands on his shoulders and pushed him down so he was sitting.
He obviously was drinking because he was upset about something, but she knew he has a younger brother and younger sister. "And don't worry, I won't tell Lexi. I know she'll get mad."

Reid's eyes widened he didn't recognize the girl so how would she know him. He felt as though he had sobered up in an instant. His mind instantly thinking that the girl was part of the group that was after his sister. "How the hell do you even know who my sister is? I've never met you before in my life and we haven't lived in New York that long." The bottle had fallen to the ground at his side, long forgotten. He stood straighter, his face showing nothing of what he was thinking.
His eyes narrowed as he studied Aqua, "Your not from the Bronx, so how the hell do you know me?" He was getting angrier by the minute but you couldn't tell his emotions were so controlled at this point. His voice sounded like it was coming from a different person.

Aqua's eyes widened as his voice rose higher and higher with anger. "I- I'm sorry. I won't hurt you. I was just trying to help. I'm a Queens newsie, Prince is my leader. I only heard about you and your sister from my friend, Firecracker. He said that he met your little brother and Lexi...I don't remember your little brother's name."
Backing away a little bit, she knew he was still drunk, and she doesn't want him to do something to her that he will regret. Aqua started to get scared and stepped backa few feet. "Sorry.." she muttered.

Reid stared at her, not believing a word that came out of her mouth. "Funny you may have heard about us, but how the hell do you explain knowing who I am when you've never laid eyes on me before. Just get out'ta here girl." He wasn't the violent sort and he'd never lay a hand on a woman but he didn't know this girl and he wasn't going to try to get to know her at this point. He wanted to wallow in his misery and he could care less if he was being ridiculous. He'd never met this girl, didn't know her name even and she knew his name, his sisters name and all without ever having laid eyes on him. It wasn't good for people to know who you were when you didn't know who they were. He sat down on a crate, not giving a damn about anything anymore he just wanted to be left alone and deal with what he had to deal with before going back to the lodging house.

"I have seen ya befoah. Trust me please, I was just tryin' ta help. I'll explain how I know ya though. My friends, Firecracker and Dot where walkin' wit' me. Firecracker just saw ya and yoah sistah, and he showed me ya." Frowning slightly, she turned around. "Nice talkin' ta ya anyway, I doubt I'll see ya latah since ya hate me already..."
Walking down the alleyway, her back to Reid, she let a few tears fall.

Reid just dismissed the girl with a wave of his hand. If she had caught him on a different day he probably would have felt terrible for making her cry. But he was far to inebriated to even notice that he had. He was also far to lost in his own misery to care about someone else's at this point. His family was all he had and he's good as shoved his relationship with his sister off the Brooklyn bridge and Perry was missing. He didn't understand it but nor did he understand much at this point. All he knew was he wanted to wallow in his misery.

*new day*
Jester hopped onto one of the crates in the alley way, pulling the apple from her pocket. She grinned at the treat shed just stolen from the vendor and rubbed it a bit on her shirt front. Taking a bite she savored the juices from it and let out an audible 'mmm..'sounds before opening her eyes again to watch the people that passed by the alleyway. She was sure no one had seen her come down here, so she was safe from the bulls finding her, but she always enjoyed watching people. Especially those that didnt know they were being watched, some of them did the funniest things. Mostly children, though, but hey... it works. She took another bite and started to swing her legs a bit.

Jib was walking slowly through the city, taking his time. He had just gotten off of work, but wasn't that ready to head back home. As he passed an alley he could have sworn he heard something... someone? He took a step into the alley and scanned the area. On a crate he could see someone. He walked further in and looked at her, "Ahoy miss, any reason you're in an alley?" He wasn't sure why anyone would want to sit in an alley, let alone eat in one. He looked around to see if there was anyone else or any sign as to why she was here.

Jester glanced up at the voice and she raised her brow with a smirk. "hmm... no reason.. .no"she shrugged. "Is there any reason yer in an alley?"She asked leaning back some as she took another bite of her apple.

Jib took interest as she spoke, it seemed like there was something he couldn't see. At her retort he chuckled. "Walking past I thought I heard something and wanted to check it out." He shrugged, "I guess I'm just curious." For his own amusement he quietly added, "Glad I'm not a cat." He looked up at the girl. He was pretty sure that she wasn't going to kill him for being curious. "I'm Jib, by the way. I work at the docks." He wasn't going to ask why she was in the alley, if she wanted to tell him she would.
