Fighter scowled at Birdies words, thinking of Gwennie working 20 hours a day and being forced to do things no child should have to do. She'd heard of places like that before and every story she'd heard had been one where someone had been injured severly or died. It made her skin crawl just thinking about it. "I'm sure you heard what the bastard said. He works with Paul Kelly so I'm sure he isn't telling me everything but he did say that they don't think they're being kept within the city."
Fighter sighed and ran a hand through her hair. She was quickly losing it and it wasn't going to be a good thing for anyone who pissed her off. "I'd like to get my hands on the guy behind this." She wouldn't even say what she'd like to do him because the imagery wasn't going to be all that pleasant.

"You and every other person in the city that's lost someone. And we're going to have to put our ears to the ground.." she tapped her ear and smirked. Birdie was always thinking and listening. It was just how she reacted.

Fighter nodded, "Yeah..." Although listening wasn't what she had in mind. Fighter had never been very good at idling and waiting for the perfect moment to attack. She was far to brash for something like that. She much preferred jumping in and getting her hands dirty.

"So a Brooklyn Magician said to a Manhattan one. Got a new Boird while i was away?'" Joe drawled as he strolled around the corner. "'Nah just a rabbit that can appear and disappear on command' said the Manhattan one. 'Huh' said the Brook 'sounds like a brooklyn newsie i know'" Joe took a drag of his cigarette and blew the smoke above his head. "Soph. Long time."

She looked at Joe sideways and a slow smirk crossed her face as she turned towards him. "Sounds like." She knew his rub, they were a lot alike in a lot of ways. They always had the one ups. Folding her arms she shook her finger at him but she was still smirking, there weren't many people she would tease with in all of New York. But then again, it was Joe. "You too Joe, any news?" ah, that was the good one wasn't it. She brushed her hair under her hat before folding her arms once again.

Joe's lip twitched in amusement. "Nah, same as Joirsey." He joked but it was a joke that held no mirth. This had all happened before and he had seen it go down just as it was going down now. Different city, different faces, different ring leader. He knew that for sure. Joe took a drag and offered Fighter his cigarette. "Whats the birds been tellin ya Soph?"

"They're tellin' me we're in for a wild ride," she reached up and pat his shoulder, she knew he had problems in Jersey. She knew more then most about those events, she was the one who know things many didn't. But she did keep silent for a lot. "I heard, that there was an unscheduled train leaving the Train Yards at a certain time every night.. late at night. No one knows where it goes but some are saying that it's got something ta do with this mess.." she looked over at Fighter, she wasn't mincing with Joe, not teasing with little leaks, she was telling him something she hard like she was would if she were talking to Spot.
She cared about Joe, probably about the same way she cared about Spot. Maybe a little different, Spot was like a brother she'd never had. Joe was different. "I figure when everyone puts all the pieces together there's a big picture here that's bigger than the lot of us..." and more dangerous.

Fighter shook her head at Joe's offer and studied the both of them as they spoke. It truly irritated her that as much as everyone knew they still knew nothing. With a sigh Fight ran her hand through her hair. When Birdie started talking about the mysterious train, Fighters ears perked up but she kept her eyes averted to avoid letting them know just how interested she was in what they were saying.

Joe watched Fighter. His eyes narrowed but that was it. That was his reaction to seeing the wheels begin to turn in her head. If she went off, he'd follow. He owed that much to Fighter and to Palmer. He didnt know if Smalls could take Fighter in Lucks position. Somethings were just too much.
"Thanks Soph." He nodded to her, slightly shifting away from her touch. He didnt do touching, especially if it felt like comfort. He only touched others, no one touched him. It was a rule. Instead he offered his cigarette to her, a peace sign.
