To say he was surprised would have been the grandest understatement of the year. Even his own niece had only hugged him this tightly, with this much adoration, on very few occasions. Shamed to say he could count them on one hand in the near four years he had taken care of her.
House gave her a small polite pat on the back before gently moving her away. "You're quiet welcome, Miss Lewis." He gave her a bit of a stunned smile, keeping a gentle hand on her shoulder. "But I dare say you didn't only come to the hospital to stare at it for a spell, did you?"

. "But I dare say you didn't only come to the hospital to stare at it for a spell, did you?"
She smiled slightly and nodded.
"I did, Doctor. It's not often I come to Manhattan, and I was always stop to stare at Mount Siani Hospital. I just like to. I was running an errand for my mama though...Doctor?"
She chewed her lip for a moment, thinking her idea through. "I was just wondering, would you like to come to supper sometime? Mama loves having company over, but we haven't really had a reason to have anybody. Mama has been a little weary lately and I think its because she misses being the host. I understand you're probably really busy, but...she cooks the best mashed potatoes and ham on this side of the River!"

House blinked, rather surprised again. A little girl suddenly inviting him for dinner? Perhaps a small case of hero worship?
House straightened and let go of her shoulder, but kept his small smile, "Well, that's terribly kind of you. I could find the time. But, Miss Lewis, I wouldn't dream of dropping in unannounced. I think you should speak with your mother first. I'll be leaving here tomorrow around the same time, so you can speak to me again, then..."

"Okay, good idea. I'm sure Mama would be delighted to have you though, she just loves company. It's not everyday we have company. I'll see you here tomorrow then doctor?" She smiled brightly up at the doctor.

*New Day*
Lorenzo stood outside the hospital refusing to go back in despite his mother's wishes. He wouldn't cry. His mama told him without papa he was the man of the family and it was time for him to become a man. He wanted to quit school. He'd have more time to work, but papa always wanted him to get an education so he would simply have to work before or after or both if it was called for. After his brother died, Lorenzo thought he had lost everything and now with his father gone he was sure of it, but he wouldn't allow things to fall apart. He was all his mama had left and she depended on him.

Walter House walked towards the hospital surprised to see the young boy alone outside of it. Perhaps an aspiring doctor? The girl before him had dreams of being a nurse. It wasn't often children stood outside of the hospital simply lingering. Most were afraid of it.
"Can I help you, son?" House walked over to the boy, stepping infront of him, his medical bag in hand.

Lorenzo snorted looking at the doctor in digust. Help him? He didn't need any help, especially not from some damn doctor. His father needed help. His brother had needed help and they were both dead. They called the doctor for his brother after he had been stabbed, but the guy took too long to get there and he died. Now his father lay in the hospital bed dead and all they could say was 'I'm sorry, we've done all we could'. Bull. They knew what was wrong with his father earlier. They could have prevented his death, but because the family didn't have money, they were turned away. These are the people who decided who lived and who died. He hated hospitals. He hated doctors.
Lorenzo crossed his arms and in his anger, responded rather harshly with, "Yeah, you can help me. Why do you bother helping people? Doesn't do any good. What's the point of askin' for help when all you people do is screw us over?" He turned his eyes away from the doctor, not wanting nor expecting an answer.

House heaved a sigh and took out his pocket watch, checking the time. He always arrived rather early. Especially now that the apartment seemed so very quiet.
"We aren't the one that kill people," House spoke rather briskly, not appreciating the boy's attitude. Though it was more than evident he must have just lost someone he loved. "We do try and help. But doctors are not gods. We can't save everyone."
