((New Day))
Lucky wound her way to the tent, smoking like a chimney that she was starting to do lately. She'd avoided the guild well enough but now-- a price hike? It was outrageous and enough to make her want to start kicking people in the head and knock them on their ass. How could this happen anyway?
She sighed and blew a long stream of smoke as she found an overturned, abandoned crate and made herself comfortable. She needed to think, she needed to plan-- and she needed more smokes because she was down to two.

Out of habit, Racetrack made his way to Coney Island every day after selling to place his bets at the Sheepshead. It was only after he'd gotten to Coney Island did he realize that with the price hike, he didn't have enough for the minimum bet. Embittered, he wasn't up to returning to Manhattan yet--he didn't want to have hiked all this way for nothing--so he decided to head over to the old fairgrounds to the gypsy tent, where he knew some newsies often spent their free time.
As he arrived at the tent, he noticed someone sitting on a crate and smoking. As he got closer, he realized it was Lucky, who he hadn't seen in a while. He made his way over to her, "Heya, Lucky," he said with a slight grin, though not as cheerful as he could have been. "How's it?"

((New Day))
Lucky took a long drag from her cigarette and leaned against a crate against the old tent. She did miss Isabella, she'd helped her come to terms with herself and she was-- the entire reason that she met Sneaks to begin with. Seemed like another life time now.. but she well, he'd left. She'd stayed and she wasn't sure how she felt about it.
Oh angry yes, hurt yes, but she wasn't going to go looking this time around. Spot forgave her, finally-- and now she had, well now she needed to just destress. She'd been holding things, her and Smalls and she never realized Brooklyn on your shoulders was such a weight. But she did it, for Spot, for Smalls and for Brooklyn. Now she was finished with that mess.
"Cripes.." she muttered as her cigarette went out and she fumbled around for a match. Where the hell did they go?

"Need a light?" Nick smirked as he produced the corny ass line along with the flame that ignited as he struck the match and then held it out towards the tip of her cigarette. He hadnt been expecting to find Lucky around here, not really expecting to find anyone in general, but when he saw lucky he couldnt help but say hey to and old friend. It seriously felt like ages since the last time hed spoken with her.
"So long time no see...' he quirked a brow as he pulled out a cigarette for himself and lit another match lighting it. He took a drag from it, letting out of the corner of his mouth. "what are you doing around here?"he asked motioning towards the tent she was nearby. "getting your future told?" there was an old familiar teasing tone to his voice.

She smirked and drew in a breath, lighting her smoke before she tilted her head and looked up at Nick. It had been forever. Curious still she tilted her head to the side once more and let out a line of smoke.
"Where you been, Nicky?" she hadn't seen him in awhile, hell she'd been so busy heading brooklyn why spot was away she hadn't seen anyone. Her jaw locked and she took another drag.
"Slummin?" she questioned. "I thought you and Murder hooked up.."

Nick shrugged. "been around' he said flicking the match away. He blew out another line of smoke moving his mouth to make smoke rings. He reached out and flicked some hair from her face and smirked again. "hmm...'
Nick tilted his head a bit and shrugged at her comment about him and murder. He really couldnt say much on that. 'I had heard you got a taste of leadership for a bit. That true?" he asked. he hadnt gotten around to find out of that statement had been true or not. "Still doing it?" he asked.

She snorted indignantly when he flicked her hair, she was butt hurt over a lot of things. So she was pretty huffy about just about anything at the moment but she just puffed away on her smoke.
"Yeah, Conlon was gone on a chain gang so smalls an I held Brooks.." and they did a damn good job of it too. "He's back now and I never want to do it again.." she seemed grumpy and she was... missed Sneaks and was angry at him at the same time.

"hm...' he nodded. '"well looks like you did a good job. It hasnt fallen apart."he teased lightly. He looked off into the distance, taking another drag from his cigarette. He dropped his head, letting the somke out through his nose before looking back up at her.
"You sound pissy.' he commented. 'Something bothering you or ... is this just natural?' he asked. He had no idea if she was still the same lucky or not. Then again it had been so long that it would definitely not be exactly the same lucky he knew. She was older now with much more under her belt.

And bigger tits but who was commenting? She looked up at him and sighed, "Brooding, kids disappeared from Manhattan... shits going up and at least I ain't in charge no more.. And haven't seen Sneaks in awhile.." okay she was pissed and it sounded in her voice but she tried not to let it get to her. Nick wasn't her Nicky anymore.. they'd grown up.
"Where have you been?"

He frowned. "I heard about some disappearances but ... most of the people... well the few that i heard it from were just brushing it off as normal. You know... mostly because they arent worth it in the eyes of the majority of the public.' he shrugged some. "So... not coincidence?' he asked.
He tilted his head. "Sneaks still been gone?" he asked. THe last time he had talked to her sneaks had been gone. He had expected him to come back by now, at least for lucky. Then again what did he know. They were one relationship he thought he got but at the same time... not so much.
"Not where I was suppose to be." he said dropping the butt of his cigarette to the floor, his eyes following the lit end down before it was covered by his shoe and snuffed out. Some things apparently didnt change.

She huffed when he mentioned Sneaks still being gone and she shook her head, "He's back, I just haven't seen him.. I ain't going to look for him.." she was butt hurt, for once could he at LEAST look for her? Could she not be the one that's always tailing after him. All relationships have problems hers was no different.
"Oh like where?" she raised a brow but didn't feel like standing up. She was annoyed.. upset and well.. whatever. She didn't want to move. It felt like right after the outbreak and she felt totally alone save Smalls.. who was angry at her right now too but that would pass.

"ah..' ... " hmm...' he licked his lips. "thats... hm.. ' he really didnt know what to say to that. 'Im sorry lucks"his brows furrowed some. 'You shouldnt have to do all the work...' Lucky was one of the strongest women he knew, at least in his opinion, but he still didnt like to see her left behind, or alone. He hadnt been much of a friend, theyd been good friends once but that felt like a different life time. Has it really been that long? Have things really changed that much.
"I dont know... I guess... I mean. I could have been some kind of pillar for you"he shrugged. 'Heathers back from Chicago... " he commented. "back to work"

"I know.." she tugged on his pant leg and then leaned back again and took another drag. When he mentioned Heather she nodded. "I know I heard, she's back up at the top of the social pecking order while we, my friend, are angling at the bottom. I think I need to go talk ta her anyway.." She needed something to do, she was restless, and edgy. "Don't worry about me though, I always pull threw. I can stand on my own two feet same as anybody.."

He snorted some as she tugged on his pant leg. "You know... Im not surprised the position shes in' he said. 'and its kind of nice being the body guard.' he shrugged. 'More stable at least. ' a look that he had often got when he was younger animated his face. 'Get guns to play with anyway.' he wiggled his brows playfully at her.
'I know. I never thought otherwise of you. But you're still human"He said. "Just as long as you dont disappear from my life... i know Im one to talk, and I deserve it, but ... id like to pretend this is another chance. Last time we'll be running into each other as slight strangers.'

She looked up at him and after a moment she watched the whistfulness cross his face and a slight smile crossed hers as she lifted her pinky for him. They'd-- been really close. If she'd never had Sneaks she probably would have fallen in love with Nick. The truth of it was strange but it was honest. She still did love him, just not the way she loved Sneaks. Not anywhere near.
"Pinky swear it.."
