Trouble finding that certain book? Maybe it's in the back shelves...

Prop yawned as she trudged to the way back corner of the library, her dark hair hanging into exhausted eyes and a tired face. She all but collapsed into a chair at a quiet table, looking around for a book so as to look as if she was reading, or a the very least, browsing the pictures.
She grabbed the nearest one, Gulliver's Travels, and opened it to a random page. She made a show of pretending to be reading, but eventually, her forehead fell do her arms, which were resting on the table.
It had been a long day.

Curls wanted to find a book to read, but he couldn't find any. So he went to the back shelves and finally found the book he wanted. Taking it off the shelf, he walked over to a chair and sat down, not noticing the girl next to him.

Prop grumbled as the table shook as someone sat down. She turned her head and opened one eye blearily, glaring at the boy sitting there.
"Yah mind? I's tryin' ta sleep heah."
She had tried to snarl the sentence, but found that she was too tired to manage it. She settled for watching the boy read, seeing as she didn't really feel like moving.

Looking up at the girl, he said, "Oh...sorry. Just tryin' ta read." Moving over a bit, he kept reading, but gave her space.

Prop yawned, now too awake to try going back to sleep. So, she sat up, running a hand through her hair.
"What'cha readin'?"
She usually wasn't talkative, but, since she'd arrived in New York, she had yet to sit down and have a conversation with one of the locals. It made her feel left out and bored.

Curls smiled at her. She seemed nice, even when she was tired. "Oliver Twist. I think it's pretty good so far."

"Oliver Twist? Nevah read it. By dat Dickens fella, yeah? What's it about... so fah?"
She leaned back in her chair, folding her arms over her chest.

He shrugged. "Don't really know how to explain it, but it's 'bout a young boy, Oliver Twist. Dat's as far as I got." This made Curls laugh, his curls bouncing everywhere.

Prop grinned a bit, shaking her head.
"Sounds interestin', yeah?" She grinned a bit wider, not really knowing why she was being so friendly and talkative. Usually she was cold, and harsh and withdrawn.
She was missing interacting with people more than she thought.
She held out her hand. "'M Prop. You'se from Brooklyn?"

"Curls. And no, I'm from Bronx." Taking her hand, he kissed the top of it like a gentleman. He wasn't embarrased of doing that, he always does it no matter what.

Prop frowned a bit as Curls kissed the top of her hand. Weird. She shook her head again, pulling her hand back.
"Good ta meet yah. You'se come 'cross da bridge a lot?"

Nodding his head, he marked the book and set it down on the table. "Yes I do. Bronx can get boring sometimes. Brooklyn always has something going on."

"Dat's cause we's can't keep ouah noses outta trouble." Prop snickered, though wasn't sure she should say 'our', seeing as she had yet to set foot in the Brooklyn Lodging House.
"You been in New Yoahk long?" she asked, wondering if Curls could give her a new perspective on the city other than the noisy, horrible place that she saw.

Curls nodded his head. "Yeah...have been since I was real young."
((Sorry it's so short! Writer's Block.))
