Her brows went up and she nodded, "Aye, there is." The man, the only one anywhere for her. Without him, there wasn't much of a Lucky. She tossed out her cards, she had nothing but her face was the same as if she had another three of a kind or a flush.

He nodded. "Anybody I know?" he asked as he tossed her a few cards back, and then picked up a few himself. He had somethin' now at least... looks like luck was helpin' hin a little.

She tossed her cards out and tapped for some new ones. "Sneaks... he was in 'hattan.." Was in the Racs... she didn't know where he was now.. she wanted him here. With her, a flicker shadowed her eyes and she took a drag from her smoke. That shadow had nothing to do with cards.

Avalanche knew when to continue on a subject, and when to stop. The shadow in her eyes made him all the more curious... but he wondered if he should press on. "Sounds familiar," he said. "Gambler... like you if I remember right. Bet you guys had some great games of cards together." he said giving her more cards... and taking one more himself too. He wondered... why the sudden feeling of sadness from her.

"Aye, he's one of the best in the city.." She missed him, that pain in a heart she hated to admit she had that only beat for one person. "Might be the best, though I'm sure Race would argue he was.."

Avalanche laughed. "I dunno... the best poker player in the city... under 25? Not sure if that's possible. No offence, I'm sure he's studied up and all... I just... wonder ya know? Sneaks... hmmm..." he made a mental note to send him to Lucky if he saw him. "Okay, so what cha got?" he asked looking at her over his cards.

She showed him her cards, to three's nothing to great but she furrowed her brow. "Don't talk about him like that, I think he's the best I've seen. And I've seen a lot, I've been in the gamblin' halls that aren't supposed to be there no more.. and I KNOW what they do in there... he's good. Lady luck is always on his side.." Why did that hurt so much.

Avalanche put down another two pair, two Queens, and two sevens. He looked at her curiously. "I believe you." The smile was no longer there. He was serious as he looked back at her, something that Avalanche rarely was... ever. "I really do. Didn't mean ta make ya angry, Lucky," he stated. "You wanna play again?"

She sighed and ran her hand over her forehead, Sneaks would probably give her hell for this. Tease her for being worried over nothing. If it was nothing. She shrugged, "Not really.." Lucky? Didn't want to play cards?!

Avalanche blinked a couple of times and then nodded. "Okay," he said as though it were nothing. To him, it was nothing. He didn't know how odd it was for her not to want to play. Though, she seemed to enjoy herself when she was playing. Why would she want to stop? "You... you okay?" he asked. Guess he touched on a bit to touchy of a subject. Though in his mind, he didn't really see that as a bad thing.

She shook her head, grabbing her smokes. "I gotta go.." Needed to go, needed to go home. Or well.. anywhere but home even then she wouldn't get what she needed. She'd go find Dodger... or Wolf or someone to get her booze.

"Nice meetin' ya Lucky. You ever need anything I work down at the Docks and got an apartment here in Brooklyn... take care of yourself now," he said to her seriously. Poor girl, she looked so sad... she needed someone that she knew better, and he wasn't that person. He'd let her go.

She nodded, "Aye, nice to meet you.." She'd go to Manhattan and take a nap in Sneaks old bunk... something to get rid of the ache of not knowing. "I might take you up on that offer sometime.." And saying that she was gone, with the smokes.

Milo didn't go into Brooklyn much. He really didn't know many people there and the ones that he did know came down to Manhattan a lot so most of the time he simply had no reason to come. but today some old lady had given him a whole half dollar coin when he told her that he would be chained up in the basement without food if he didn't sell all of his papers. Even he had thought the story was a bit farfetched, definately not his best work, but the lady had bought it and lucky for him she had been very generous. He knew that he should probably save the extra money, especially with the recent price hike, but, in the end, he had been unable to resist the temptation of buying some candy and maybe a milkshake and for that he had to go to Brooklyn.
As he stepped into the store he saw a little girl standing in front of some of the containers of candy. Distracted from his plans he observed the little girl as she looked around in awe. The girl looked to be very young, even to him, only about three or four at the most. 'must be her first time in a candy store' he thought to himself, suddenly feeling very mature and knowledgeable. Suddenly, the girl satarted grabbing candy from the bins and stuffing it into her mouth. Worried that she would run up more of a tab than she could handle, he felt an obligation as the older person in the situation to stop her before she ate herself into bankruptcy.
"whoah, whoah little girl, Hold on a minute" he said, putting himself in between her and the candy bins "ya hafta buy da candy befoah ya eat, it's da rules. Plus, if ya eat it first, den ya don' know how much ya ate an' den ya eithah hafta pay a whole bunch a' money ta make shoah ya didn't steal any of it or...well...ya might be stealin' an' dey can put ya in jail for dat" he informed her, a very serious look on his face.

Milo looked at the girl's confused expression and sighed "Look" he said simply "ya can't eat dat now, dat's bad. Ya gotta buy it first" he wondered if she even know what the word 'buy' meant. "an' ya oughta wash ya hands too, or you'll get everything sticky" he chided, noticing her dirty hands.
