Pepper opened her mouth to comment, but shut it after a second, looking as if in a deep thought (briefly). "Oh, ya know.. this and that," she shrugged, nodding a bit, "I know the feelin'. Bet you'll be out of heah in no time."

Pepper rolled her eyes, smirking, "Well, I thought about leavin' ya back at the lodgin' house, but I figured it'd be much crueler of me to drag you heah. Bad trait of mine I guess." Her eyes glowed a bit, glad to see that Cards was doing better.

"Bloody sadist." Cards chuckled, tossing her apple core into the garbage and pulled her cards out from underneith her matress. How they got there, she'd never know. Her mind did crazy things when she was sick.

Pepper smirked, arching an eyebrow as Cards pulled out.. well cards, "Odd place ta keep those, don't ya think?" Eventually getting tired of standing, she dragged over a chair. Zoning out for a minute after sitting down, she stared at the wall, her eyes blank.

Cards laughed. "You think dat's odd? I found 'em in my shoes once. Twenty-six in one an' twenty-six in da uddah." She stopped talking when Pepper sat down. "You alright?"

Pepper nodded, shrugging a bit, "Now, that's some talent right there." She didn't really want to talk about anything, even though she found herself thinking about the other night a lot. A grin crept up on her face, "So.. were they your shoes?"

Cards noiced that Pepper wasn't answering her question, but didn't push it. Pepper's business was Pepper's business, not Cards'. "One o' 'em was. The uddah was one o' dah uddah orphans livin' in da convent. Almost lost 'em dat time."

Pepper laughed a bit, "Well, you could always buy some new ones, right? Ya know, in case next time they end up off the Brooklyn Bridge or something." She shrugged again, realizing she didn't give Cards a direct answer before, "Jist got a lot on my mind is all."

Pepper smirked, "I never knew there was a.. certain amount of 'break in time' for cards. Guess you got ta make shoir those don't get lost." She shrugged, "I'm not sure," which in fact was the truth of it. She didn't know if it was serious or just a fling, or if she even cared. Suppose that's why it'd been lingering around in her mind all day long.
