Smokes sat alone high in the stands. The last race for the day had ended over an hour ago and she had still been sitting in her seat. The sun was slowly setting. She pulled out match and struck on the bottom of her seat, lighting the cigar in her mouth. After eating dinner she left the house and wandered around aimlessly until she ended up in Brooklyn.
She missed it here. Her and her brother would always sneak around the racetrack and watch the races away from the stands where they couldn't afford to sit. Those were better days, though. Now, she had to worry about people finding out her letting Coop go, if they hadn't already. For the first time in a while, Smokes had smoked her cigar all the ay to the end. She pulled out another, but didn't bother lighting it.

***New Day***
Flick lead Fox to the stands and sat down. He popped his feet on the empty seat in front of him and sighed. "Now lets hope dis is a good race."

She sat down next to him, at the edge of her seat and looked down at the racetrack. She nodded and smiled at Flick. "Yea, let's hope." She was pretty excited to see the race.

She smiled softly and looked at Flick. "Am I that obvious?" She joked. "Yea, it is!"

"Well, considerin' your acting like a little kid when they get a treat, no offense. Why haven't ya eveh gone ta the races?" Flick didn't know that much about Fox, but most everyone he knew if not everyone had gone to the races at least once in there life.

She shrugged. "You know, I'm not sure. Something always comes up and I don't have the time, or I just don't want to go by myself." She smiled. "I heard they were really fun though."

"Yeah, it is fun. Even by yourself, because you can always find someone here to talk to. Or you can come by yourself, but usually someone will eventually talk to you," Flick explained. He leaned forward as a race began.

Fox nodded and smiled. She quickly turned her attention to the race as it began, trying to suppress her anticipation. She watched the horses move, enjoying every minute of it. Watching as the horses began to move ahead of each other, while others fell back.

As soon as Flick thought Fox had turned back to the race he shifted to watch her. He watched her face expressions change as the race continued and smiled. He was glad he had brought her to her first horse race.

Fox, for once, had no idea that Flick was watching her. Normally she was aware of everything, but right now, with Flick at her side, she felt she didn't have to be. She watched as two horses began to race head to head at the front. She watched with eagerness as the finish line grew nearer. The people around her cheering, while she was speachless, sitting on the edge of her seat.

Flick continued to watch her even though most of the crowd was concentrating on the track. Even when everyone stood up cheering for the winning horse, he stayed sitting and watched Fox.

She cheered happily with the rest of the crowd as the race finished. She didn't see who won, but that wasn't important. She sat back down, while everyone else continued to cheer. She looked at Flick, her emerald eyes sparkling. She noticed that he was already looking at her and she wondered how long he had. "Thanks Flick." Her voice elegant and pleased.

Flick smiled, "Its my pleasure. So how'd ya like your first horse race?" He didn't have to ask, because he saw her excitement on her face.
