Jack sat at the edge of the harbor, staring off into the distance. He had finished selling his papers, and he needed time to think.
He was going to have to gather his kids soon and explain to him the whole Raconteur deal...and he just wasn't looking forward to it.

Prince was, kinda lookin' for him acctually. She hadn't had time to really talk to him, and to be honest... she missed him. When she looked up to see him sitting on the edge of the harbor her first impuse was to run over to him, but she wouldn't do that, he didn't exactly look... cheery. She instead walked quietly up behind him and placed her hands on his shoulders. "Hi..." she said quietly as she started to massage his shoulders... he looked tense.

Jack jumped a bit, but settled down when he realized it was Prince, smiling softly. "Hey." He sighed softly, nearly gasping. "That feels good.." He looked back at her, his eyes glittering. "I'm sorry that I haven't seen you lately its just been..." he shrugged. "A mess..."

"I know," she said nodding. "It ain't exactly been a walk in da park anywhere in New York," she said sadly. "But we're gonna fix dat," she said with a small smile. "Then we won't hafta worry about it anymore..." which Prince considered to be a good thing. Maybe she could take a vacation from leader and be a real person for a while. That would be different.

Jack nodded. "Yeah..." He hadn't told her about him leaving for Santa Fe. He just couldn't...not yet. "Come here.." He smiled softly and took one of her hands, pulling her down to sit next to him, hugging her. "...there's always something to worry about...never seems to end lately. Least I gotcha."

Prince smiled at him. "'Course! Long as you'll take me," she said nodding. She leaned her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes. "Other than... stuff... are you okay?" she asked. "Just seem... unhappy. I mean I know that there's a lot to be unhappy about but..." she chuckled a little. "Maybe I'm paranoid."

Jack sighed and kissed the top of Prince's head. "Yeah...its not you.." He hugged her lightly, rubbing her back a bit. "Not you..."
He looked out on the water, shrugging a bit. "I just...its been harder to see the point. Sweets actually yelled at me...made some good points..." He ran his free hand through his hair. "Who am I to tell these kids what to do? At least me and David are okay.."
He laughed a bit and looked down at her. "Now..here I am belly-achin. I should be happy I got my goil here..."

She laughed again and looked up at him. "You've still got some kids on your side... lots of kids acctually. Skittery for example," she reminded him. She'd taked to him the other day. "He's with you 100%," she said nodding. "Some kids... well... they just... need the money? Or the attention, either one," she said with a sigh and a slight roll to her eyes. "But don't worry about Sweets, she'll be just fine, I promise. She's in Queens now, with me," she said. Though, Jack probably knew that... Prince just oftend stated the obvious because she could.

Jack went quiet for a while, just looking out onto the ocean. "..I'm...I'm glad Sweets is fine." It really upset him that she didn't come back...that she felt that she couldn't. Clearly, he had done something wrong in leading his newsies that they felt that they couldn't come back to him. Reiterated the fact to him that he needed to leave for a while. Try and put things in perspective.
"And I know most of them are...but.." he shook his head and laughed. "Let's stop talking about this stuff...lets just try and be happy." He smiled down at her, touching her hair gently at the nape of her neck. "Still got my bandana?"

Them? Talk about happy stuff? Since when did they do that? When it came to the conversations these to had it was always something sad or depressing, but she figured she'd give it a shot. She nodded. "Yeah, do you want it back?" she asked. "I got it right here," she said taking it out of her pocket. She kept it handy, had ever since he had given it to her. She didn't want to lose it.

Jack laughed. "No I don't...just wanted to make sure you still had it." He hugged her a bit. "So, you know, there's a Halloween party coming up." He smirked. "And I think I know a certain Mary-Ann that should be going with me."

The handkercheif went back into her pocket, since he didn't want it as she started to process what Jack was talking about. Yes she knew there was a party... and... oh wait... he was asking her out. Oh, she got it. She looked up at him her eyebrows raised. "Is there some other Mary Ann in this city dat I should know about?" she asked poorly hiding a smirk.

Jack smirked and settled back a bit. "Hmm...we'll there is Mary Sue down in Harlem that I've been seeing...there's just plain Mary that I see up in Bronx...Mary Catherine in four points...but another Mary Ann that you need to know about?" He gave his famous smile. "Nope. Not that I can think of."

Prince laughed and hung her head. She'd asked for that one. "I gotta remember not ta try and be sarcastic with you... ya too smart," she said laughing. "And if you're serious about all dose goils then I think I'm gonna hoit ya," she said nodding with a sweet smile. "But if you're asking me to go with ya... I'd love ta, but I dunno what I'd go as..." she said with a shrug.
