She looked at him in confusion a moment. "Oh... right. Hi!" she smiled and shook her head, breaking her daze. Sighing a bit, Dusty studied her finger nails. Why was being with him so awekward now? It scared her a little, but she pushed the thought away. "So..." she didn't look up, the heavy atmosphere settling deeply around her.

He cocked an eyebrow at her. He didn't feel awkward at all... all he had to do was just not think about it, and everything seemed as though it were normal, even though it technically wasn't. "La ti do!" he said singing the rest of the notes to the scale and laughing slightly. "Sorry..." he said smiling to her.

She smiled at him and shook her head. "Your crazy..." she teased, leaning her head on her hand, propping it up on the table. "Taking up singing lessons?" she giggled a little, she really didn't know what to say, she didn't want to bring up that topic again. Her eyes fell on his hands, and she just sat there, her face blank, expressionless.

He chuckled slightly. "Uhhh... yeah, like it?" he asked humming. "Do you sing?" he asked her. He'd never heard her sing before, and he wanted to hear it. He put his head in his hands and stared back at her with a smirk.

Dusty laughed. "No. I don't sing. I'm a TERRIBLE singer." she smiled. "But apparently your not." she winked at him teasingly. The waiter returned and placed the drinks in front of them. "If i sang i bet i'd give someone a headache..." she giggled.

He chuckled, he knew others that were far better singers than he, far better. "Nah, I dun believe it. I wanna hear ya sing, please sing?" he pleaded with her with a smile. He nodded to the waiter in thanks for the hot chocolate. "Please?"

Dusty laughed. "No!" she shook her head and laughed again. "I'd embarrass myself so badly!" she sat back in her chair and shook her fist at him. "Gosh darn boyfriend, why don't you sing then?" she teased, her eyes twinkling mischieviously.

He shrugged. "My lovey dovey baby..." he said as a joke. "I boo-hoo-hoo for you," he sang rather well though, but he was only kidding. "Alright, I sang, your turn," he said folding his arms and smirking to her. Hey, she didn't say how much he had to sing!

Dusty laughed, he was pretty good though. "Alright, fine." she thought for a moment, she didn't know what to sing. She went a little red as she thought hard. "Alright."
' could go back to every laugh but i don't want to go there anymore and i know all the steps up to your door but i don't wanna go there anymore
talk to the wind talk to the sky talk to the man with the reasons why and let me know what you find
i leave my window open cuz i'm too tired not to call your name just know i'm right here hoping that you'll come in with the rain
i could stand up and sing you a song but i don't want to have to go that far and i, i got you down i know you by heart and you dont' even know where i start
talk to yourself talk to the teams talk to the man who put you here and don't wait for the sky to clear
i leave my window open cuz i'm too tired not to call your name just know i'm right here hoping you'll come in with the rain
i've watched you so long scream your name i dont' know where as i can see
but i leave my window open cuz i'm too tired not ....? just know i'm right here hoping you'll come in with the rain
I could go back to every laugh but i don't wanna go there anymore'
She looked at him and smiled sheepishly, she was better than she gave herself credit for. Biting her lip she looked down at her cup as a few customers applauded her. She blushed.

The whole restaurant had seemed to go quiet when she had started singing. And even if it hadn't she was the only thing that Avalanche had heard. He stared at her in amazment. "that... was... wow... Uh..." he shook his head out of this speechless funk that he hardly ever got into, "Oh miss I-can't-sing... that was wonderful!" he said the smile brighting up his face.

Dusty giggled a little. "Thanks." she smiled sheepishly and glance sideways at an older couple staring at her in awe. She looked back at Avalanche. "Um, maybe i should stop singing in the middle of resturaunts..." she laughed a bit, trying to forget about that little escapade. She took a sip of her hot chocolate.

He laughed a little bit at that statement. "Nah, you're a good singer," he said laughing lightly. "I think you could make money if you kept singing in the middle of restaurants," he said smiling at her still. "You really are good."

Dusty smiled. "Thank yo- OH MY GOSH!" she squeeled. "Alex, you are a GENIUS!" she smiled and danced around in her seat a little. "I could perform! Thats how i can make money!" she squeeled and leapt around the table, hugging him tight before returning to her chair. "Oh yay!" she smiled and drank her chocolate again, a big grin on her face.

Avalanche was in shock, literally at her sudden burst of happyness. He laughed slightly at her happyness as well, but was happy for it. "Exactly!" he said mathing her enthusiasum, and smile. "You'd be an amazing performer. Singin'... dancin'... you'd be da richest newsie in all of new york... heck, ya wouldn't even hafta be a newsie no mores!"

Dusty smiled widly. "Thanks, Avalanche. "she winked at him. "And you wouldn't have to be a thief anymore!" she told him smugly, saying that a little louder than she had intended but didn't really care. She raised her eyebrows. "Isn't it great?!" she laughed and danced in her seat a little more, sipping her hot cocoa as she did.
