She looked back at him and gave him a smile, "You've never been anywhere else? But, here in New York?" her eyes were soft as she dropped down to the grass, pulling her knees to her chest, if only to wrap her arms around them. She rested her chin on her knees and smiled. "Never left?"

He shook his head. "Nope, I've always been here. Not that I haven't wanted to see what other places were like but I have just never done it. Never had the time, or too big a desire. Everytime I decide to leave, something keeps me here." He smiled. He did not regret his life here, he liked it this way. "Are you cold?" He asked, wondering if that was the reason she pulled her legs to her chest.

She smiled at him a bit, then chuckled, " Chere, I'm always cold." She looked up at the sky and smiled a bit, "You've never had the desire to see somewhere else?" she tilted her head and watched him a moment, her soft blue eyes a bit far away. "Well, this is New York," she smiled a bit, though still pondering. She couldn't recall being that content. "I suppose if you love a place enough, you'd never want to leave."

He shrugged, "I guess I have had the desire, just not strong enough ta matta." He smiled. "Yea, I love New York, I can't imagine livin' somewhere else." He watched her and pulled his jacket off, wrapping it gently around her. "You don't always have ta be cold." He said softly.

Lanna blinked as the weight landed on her shoulders, "Oh bebe I can't take this... it's yours..." She furrowed her brow, her objection lacked some bite. She was freezing and the jacket was welcoming. But, still, it wasn't hers.
She sighed a bit, "Some of us have no choice but to carry home with us, no matter where we are. I miss home, bebe." She rested her chin on her knees a moment. "I miss the bayou, and the old Voodoo queen that lived down the river. I miss my maman, she used to make the best bread. I miss my brothers. I've got six you know.." she sighed, it was almost as if Alanna were there, for a single moment. She was home running threw the bayous, chasing lightening bugs.

Trigger shook his head. "No, you need it more then I do." He smiled, talking about his jacket. He listened to her talk about home, she really did seem to miss it. "Well, maybe one day, you'll get to go back." He said, trying to make her happy.

She grinned and got to her feet. "Maybe.. thanks for the jacket, mon ami. Umm.. I'll meet you at the party then?" She grinned. He was nice, a good friend to have. She was glad for that. "I've got to get going, lots of stuff to get ready before the party..." She almost glowed as she watched the sky. "Have to go find Moira in Manhattan.. meet her beau.. maybe.. see if I can scare up some trouble on the way.." She giggled, she loved to have fun. Made her happy.

((New))
Delaney walked out by the pond carrying an empty pail in one hand and a tin tub under her arm. Once at the edge she set the stuff down. She pulled out a medium sized wicker basket, soap, a few clothes, and a washboard and set them down beside her.
She plunged the pail into the water and dumped the water into the tub. She repeatedly did this until the tub was full. Then she started scrumbing her clothes with the soap and washboard. When she was done washing one she'd place it in the basket and moved on to the next one.
This was a daily routine that went on in her house when she wasn't working. They had no heating source in their home to heat the water and the tub was always to heavy to drag back home, so Delaney just did it here.

Irish walked in, her mongrel of a dog barking loudly. With a sigh, she pushed him a few times, trying to get him off of her. "Stupid mutt." She said in an annoyed way. Looking she saw a girl washing her clothes. Gin, the dog, also noticed and ran towards the tub, wanting to jump in. It took Irish all she had to run to the dog and dive on him before he had a chance to. She didn't quite make it, but was able to push him into the pond. He landed in the water and walked back on to the land. He shook hard right next to Irish, almost in spite of her. "Sorry about that." She said, commenting the close call.
No, Irish was not an abuser of her dog, though it may seem like that; she loved him as much as a sister loves a brother. She would never hurt him, and knew what he could handle. She's pushed him into the pond many times, and has scorned him for just barking almost a million times.

Fame had been standing next to the pond when Irish had pushed her dog in. She couldnt help but laugh a little when she saw the dog come out, his fur all wet and the dog itself looking kind of vengeful, but you could never tell. "Cute dog." She said to Irish, a slight smile still playing on her lips.

Delaney looked at the dog and then up at Irish. She wiped her shirt with her hands--a failing attmept to dry it. Delaney cut her eyes for a split second.
"Right," she said dryly. "It's ok."
She looked at Fame as she spoke, then returned back to her washing.

Irish looked at the two girls; she hadn't really expected two other to be around. She wasn't much of a talker, or a people person. She had gotten used to talking with one person, but she was still trying to get used to an addition. "I'm, uh, Irish." She barely got out. It was easy to see she wasn't scared, but just as easy to see that she was a little uncomfortable. Patting her annoying mutt, she was happy to have him near by. "Crazy, stupid dog." She said, giving his head a playful nudge.

Delaney stood, wringing the the water from a shirt into the pond, before tossing it into the basket. "Delaney." It seemed like she was talking to herself more than the other two.
