"Why, yes, they are. I hadn't really noticed." Inwardly, she was a little nervous. She had never carried on any sort of lengthy conversation with anyone, let alone a boy, and she still wasn't sure what to say.

<<New Day>>
Clarence had been coming back from the main Police Station. He had really wanted to get home, just to relax, and decided to cut through Central Park. There weren't many people out today, just kids playing around.

A small girl came up to Clarence recgonizing him as a police officer and tugged on his pant leg gently. She didn't know what she'd say to him but her mommy and daddy had told her that if anything happened to them she should go to the police and they would help her.

Clarence had been walking along, when something pulled on his leg. He looked down and noticed a little girl, she couldn't have been more than five or six. He bent down to her height. "Why, hello there, can I help you?" Clarence immediately slapped a big smile on his face.

The little girl smiled at him innocently. "My mommy and daddy told me to find one of you if something bad happened." That's all she could think of to say before she looked down at the ground. She didn't have any shoes on she she went to looking at her feet.

Paintbrush walked past the little girl and the policeman, not really paying much attention. She figured the child was lost and decided to keep on walking. If one or the other tried to catch her attention, she would turn around.

"Something bad happen? Can you tell me?" He asked lifting the little girls chin up so she would look at him. He noticed the girls feet were bare, and her clothes werent the best either.

Clarence pulled the little girl into a hug. Such a tragedy for a little kid. He stood back up, taking the little girls hand. "Come with me." he was going to take her back home to Ariannette and see what they should do with the little girl. He probably should have taken her to an orphanage, but Clarence just couldn't resist cute little kids. As they started walking he nodded to the lady who had passed earlier.
"So, what's your name?" he said, looking down at the top of her head.

Paintbrush nodded back, and her eyes fixed on the little girl. She hadn't been near enough to hear what the child had said, but something bad had happened. Why else would a sweet little girl be alone in this place? Sighing, she flopped down heavily onto the nearest bench and stared at nothing.

"Constance" She said slowly sounding out her own name. "but most everyone calls me Innocence." She kept her eyes on the ground but she knew she was safe with him. She just wasn't used to not having her mommy with her. She held tight to a teddy bear that she had had hidden behind her back.

"Constance? Such a lovely name. But I think I'll call you Innocence." He noticed for the first time the little bear the girl was clutching. "Does your teddy have a name too?" Clarence also noticed how she kept her eyes trained on the ground. He didn't mind though, she was most likely upset and shy, as were all children, or at least most.

Innocence nodded her head. "His name is Beary." She'd gotten him when she was so young that the first thing she could think to call him was that and it just kinda stuck. She snuggled her head into the bear which was witer and seemed a little big compared to her small body. "I want my mommy." She whispered softly.

Clarence heart crushed for the little girl. From what she had told him he figured her parents were dead. Her mommy could never come back. "Well, I'm sure your mommy's in a better place and she's missing you." He didn't really know what to say. He gave her a hand a little squeeze and led her towards the exit of the park.
