Hawkeye grinned, "So you haven't forgotten how to smile." Addressing the name comment, she shrugged, "Didn't say it was a bad name. Just doesn't seem to fit you, that's all," she leaned back against the statues legs [...That sounds awkward...], "Name's Hawkeye, but thank you for the flattering guesses."
She turned her attention to Jack, "Ah, Cowboy, whaddaya hear, whaddaya say? Taking a break from doing.. what ever it is that you do?"

Skittery rolled his eyes at her expressing his irritation in not having a smart-ass response. Her name was normal (as way of newsies go).
Jack was a relief. He gave Jack a crooked smile; however it was short lived as soon as Jack opened his mouth. "I ain't yer 'kiddo', Cowboy." He snorted, resenting the reference to being younger, they were around the same age and Skittery didn't want to be lumped with the 'kids' even if Tumbler was hanging on him half the time.

Jack put up his hands. "Hey now...just callin' everyone that. I knows you no kid--you know I know dat."
He ran a hand through his hair. He didn't need people snapping at him, even good naturedly. Things were bad.

Skittery snubbed out his cigarette on the statues shoe, flicking the butt to the ground. He reached in his pocked and pulled out two more offering one to each of his friends.
He looked Jack over a minute, glanced at Hawkeye and sighed. "Ya ain't as smart as usual - what's eatin' ya?" he asked sensing his leaders angst.

Hawkeye shurgged, and took the cigarette from him. She wasn't a big smoker, but wouldn't turn down a free cig, "Thanks. Gotta light?" She looked over at Jack, "Yeah, what's up?"

Jack leaned against the statue, sighing. "Damn Raconteurs. Just causin' all kinds of Hell with us leaders and you newsies." He looked the two of them. "...I don't know if you knows about these guys...but stay away." He shook his head. "...bad news all around."

Arabelle glanced at the others by the statue as she slowly approached. She could hear only a few words of what Jack said, and paused. The Raconteurs...she thought back to the rumors she had heard, and shuddered. They were bad news indeed, and had never had much of a positive effect on her nervous personality.

Skittery popped the second cig in his mouth when Jack failed to take it and pulled out a match to light his own as well has Hawkeyes.
He listened to Jack and shrugged. He had heard of them and was tempted by the offer, though he'd never admit it, having more cash sure wouldn't hurt anything but then again he was loyal to his friends. "Ya got some kids who'd take a bullet for ya Jack" Skittery said but didn't volunteer himself as was his glum way, "jus' call on 'em if ya need them..."
He caught sight of Arabelle lingering close and just stared at her curiously.

Hawkeye nodded absentmindedly, taking a drag on the cigarette, "Yes, yes, very bad." Jack had already told her about the group. While she hadn't spoken to them, she still failed to see the threat of a group that wasn't forcing anyone to join.
The newcomer caught her eye, "Oh boys," she drawled, "We're not alone."

Jack nodded. "Yeah I know Skits...but I don't want any kid to do that. I'm tryin to protect 'em...not have 'em protect me, ya know?" He rubbed his temples. "They kidnapped Red from Brooklyn apparently...keepin' the cops out of it by nappin a cops pregnant goil...its nasty business."
He looked up and saw the girl. "...Can we help you?"

Arabelle blinked. "Ah...no. I was just..." She waved a hand in a random direction, feeling oddly intimidated by the presence of the three. Keeping her head down, she walked off quickly not quite in the indicated direction and struggled to quell her anxiety.

Skittery's eyebrow raised. "Kidnapped Red..and some pigs knocked up goil...? There's more then one cop out there hows that gonna keep 'em all quiet? An' why Red?" He took a few drags, "so the kids that have been joinin' them...they the ones doin' the kidnappin'?" He knew some of the kids and wondered if thats what they were getting the money for. "'sides that wheres the conection to us?"

Jack sighed. "I don't know why they too Red. No..kids are stealin..pickpocketin' something." He looked at Skits. "I don't know, alright! I can't force you not to join, but I don't want you to. We leaders are tryin' to figure out how to stop this..."
He lit a cigarette then and took some long drags. "...Hell."
He was getting tired of this. One crisis after another.

Hawkeye looked between Jack and Skittery, then at the girl who was slowly leaving. She rolled her eyes and blew out neat stream of smoke, "Guys, she's prob'ly lost or something," she looked back to the girl, "Hey!" She called, "You alright?"

Arabelle turned, startled. "...Yes, I'm fine." She started to walk away again, wondering why people always asked her if she was alright. Did she look weak or something?
