Spade continued to wrestled the dog until finally she good up on her feet. Laughing she wiped her face off with her sleeve. "Yeah, I'm a newsie." She had heard people talk about the newsies and since she had been selling papers for the past few days that made her a newsie. "At least I guess I am."
Devil whinnied a little, looking down the girl smiled, "Just give me a second and I'll buy you some food." Looking over at the girl, Spade said, "This dog eats more then any dog I have ever know."

Alley walked over to the dog pulling out a piece of a sandwhich she had saved from her lunch and gave it too him. "well what area you sell in most?" She question the girl hoping that she would be seein' any other of her fellow Brooklyn newsies about. The girl seemed extrememly new to the parts.

"Well I don't sell in anywhere particular. I've been just wandering around and selling to be able to pay for a little food for me and Devil here. I've been trying to hide from anyone else who was selling newspapers because I don't want them to get mad at me for selling in their spot. Also I've heard all these rumors about some war going on and how everyone has to stay in their borrow?" She stated it more as a question.
Smiling at the food she offered Devil, she said, "Devil what do you tell the nice girl?" Devil continued to chew the food greedily. Finally after finishing it the dog looked at the girl expectantly and then barked, his thank you. Laughing the Spade said, "Thanks."

"your welcome." She smiled at Spade and Devil. "Yes there is a war going on but we are all gettin' a little tired of it." She shook her head. "Well the cheapest place in New York with the best food and friends has got to be Tibby's it's in Manhattan. You just cross the bridge and keep walking you'll find it easily. Though if you want to stay away from the rest of the newsies that probably isn't a good place. See everyone hangs out there exspecially the Manhattaners." She shrugged hoping that that would help. "There's also places in Queens and even here though i suggest gettin' out of Brooklyn."

She watched Devil walk over to the lake, contently laying down facing the girls and closed his eyes. Looking back at the girl she said, "So the war is really going on, I didn't believe it because I would think you would all want to stick together. But what do I know of the newsies." She thought about going to Manhattan, but thought better of it. "I'd probably get lost trying to find...Tibby's?" She looked questionable at the girl when she said the name of the restaurant. "Thanks for the advice...umm...," She let that hang hoping the girl would give her, her name, but won't press for it.

Alley smiled "Forgive my rudeness. My names Alley Cat. If you want to go by nicknames otherwise it's Alley." She was talking proper which she did when she was around different sorts of company. With the Newsies she's of course talk the everyone else did. But this girl seemed as if she came from some higher class kinda like the class her mother had been in. When she was talking properly she had a hint of a spanish accent otherwise it was her normal Brooklyn accent.

"A pleasure to meet you," She smiled over at the girl, "My names Spade if we are going by nicknames or to some of my older friends it Rae." Spade thought about how Alley's accent had changed, it sounded almost spanish. "¿usted habla español?"**do you speak spanish?** Spade inquired in spanish.

Alley smiled and looked down a bit. "No habla espanol. Least you count be me being able to tell you i don't" Her great grandmother had taought her a few words but she wasn't around long enough to actually learn all and she couldn't remember most of what she was tought now. "My great grandmother taought me some things but i've forgotten i was little when she was teaching me and my parents never spoke it nor did my grandmother really." She shruged her smile never leaving her face. She sounded even more spanish and from a higher class in society now or at least after she had said something in spanish. "If i may ask what brings you to Brooklyn or New York for that matter?"

She tensed up immediately. You shouldn't have brought attention to yourself, it won't do good for anyone to know your past. Think of something fast to fix this. She tried to relax but she couldn't. She usually did good at masking her feelings since it was expected from her class, but this was to soon. Everything she had done since leaving California had yet to sink in, she wasn't sure she believed everything.
Devil began to growl, which didn't help Spade. Looking back at the dog she said with all the authority that her birthright had granted her, "Thats enough Devil." She hoped Alley didn't make any connection with Devil and her. She smiled over at Alley, "Sorry, sometimes he starts to act up."
She continued to smile, but it was more brittle than before, she said, "Well, I came here to," she paused as she tried to think of the appropriate word. "To get away from an unsavory arrangement. Where I had no say and I couldn't deal with that." She hoped that satisfied the girl.

Alley studied her for a second. "YOu didn't love the guy your parents were sending you too. It was arranged." She wasn't expecting her to say what she had and she was expecting her to make a comment to what she said. "well New York can be a wonderful place at times. It seems to be the safe haven for runaways." She smiled kindly.

Nice Spade know your are going to watch every step and everyone else's step from know on, because you couldn't keep your big mouth shut. You had better start packing. Sighing she looked over at Devil and he walked right over to her. She went down on her knees and hugged him. Whispering she said, "Better be prepared to run."
Then speaking to Alley, "Please don't mention me to anyone, I would really appreciate it. I don't know if anyone is going to come and look for me, but I prefer that very little people know who I am and where I am." Slowly she stood up, but kept her hand on her dogs head.

((New Day))
Attention Newsies! Are you tired of not having enough money to feed yourselves? Work not giving you enough variety in your routine? Always having to sew up the holes in your socks and shirts instead of buying new ones? Come to our headquarts at the Brooklyn docks and see how you can finally put that behind you. Talk to Patrick Darcy for more details.
"...money." Avalanche sighed as he remembered the note he'd read on the door of the newsies lodging house. He wasn't a newsie, true, but... money was involved, more than a newsie made, and he needed a side job badly. The dock working wasn't making enough. He'd have to be sure and stop by and see this... Patrick Darcy person. It didn't sound like the best idea, or the most secure position, but he needed the money. He couldn't decide whether to go or not though. He looked out across the lake his elbows resting on his knees as he sighed a little.

<<New Day>>
Trigger wandered through the park and made his way down tot he lake. Smoking a cigarette as he walked, he thought about what had happened that day. He was made Spot's new bodyguard, who was now looking for the other leaders. And a Brooklyn newsie, Red to be exact, had been taken my this lousy Patrick Darcy guy. He was angry and didn't know how he could help.
Finding a bench he sat down and overlooked the lake, after a moment, lifting his feet to rest on the bench, now no one could sit even if they wanted too, though this was not his intention. He sighed and leaned a bit on the arm of the bench, inhaling his cigarette and then blowing the smoke out towards the lake.

Emerald walked through the park with a burlap sack in one hand and a stick in the other. She had just arrived to New York from Chicago and was on her way to Bronx, taking a short cut through the park.
She spent all her money on the trip up there and couldn't afford a carriage ride or anything, so walking was her only option. She swung the stick in her hand, whistling an old Gaelic song her mother had taught her.
When she got to the middle of the park, she became tired and wanted to take a break. She looked around the park and spotted a bench. She walked over to it, seeing there was a boy with his feet resting, taking up the entire bench's space. She sighed and looked down at him. "Mind if I sit?"

Trigger looked up at the girl and smiled, quickly moving his feet so she had room. "Sure, no problem." He noticed the things she had with her and she looked pretty tired, she must be traveling. "Where ya headed?" He asked.
Taking off his hat his ran his fingers through his hair breifly. Looking out at the lake momentarily he sighed, then looked back at the girl. "I'm Trigger by the way." he held out his hand for her.
