He got to his feet, "Well, its not like there's anything we can do about it now. Its late...and i need to get home." He took a look around, "How about we meet, you, me, and Jack at Tibby's tomorrow? We can talk more, and maybe think of a way to get Spot to listen."

Prince nodded. "Yeah, you got it!" she said nodding. "I'll meetcha there, and if you run inta any problems with the newsies you tell me... I'll handle it," she said to him. "Have a good night, an' I'll see ya tomorrah..." she said. She waved to him. "Bye Ace."

He gave her a small two-fingered salute. "See ya Prince." He grabbed Drifter and pulled her off toward the Bronx. He needed to get home, and fast. Staying out was not an option, and not in Hattan. No one knew he was neutral yet. That might cause some problems.

((New Day))
"Extra, Extra! 'Mayor Found in Dirty Dealings! Been Taking Bribes For Years!'" a voice yelled among the crowds in Central Park. Ten people crowded around the newsboy who hawked the "improved" headline. When they cleared, a curly brown-haired boy was revealed, grinning.
It was unusual for him to be in too great of a mood since the war started, but he was having a pretty good day. He'd bought a hundred papers, and was now down to only sixteen, and it was hardly noon! Apparently, he was getting better at "improving the truth." Who knew David Jacobs, who was perhaps one of the most honest newsies, could be such a good liar?
He continued to sell until he had finally gotten rid of the last pape. The headlines hadn't been good today, but the mayor story on page three was a hot seller. But then again, no one knew it was a small town mayor who had been given a pig for no reason that the public was aware of. The newspaper had hinted bribery, so the newsboy had worked with it.
Still smiling, he walked over to a hot dog vendor, flipping the man a nickel and taking a hot dog. He wasn't in the mood for Tibby's during such a nice day. Warm enough to be pleasant, cool enough to not have to worry about getting dehydrated. He sat down on one of the benches, feeling at peace, the thoughts of war out of his head as he relaxed.

Jack was still wandering in his own thoughts..seeing David he smiled softly. He hadn't seen the kid in a while, too wrapped up in the whole war.
Waving slightly he tipped his cowboy hat off his head as he approached his good friend. "Oy, Mouth...you's takin' a break on a great news day like dis?" There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice -- it wasn't the best newsday at all, but he knew David had finally figured out how to lie to the advantage of his purse.

David grinned at the sight of Jack. He hadn't seen the Manhattan Leader much since the war began. While David didn't totally agree with Jack,--far from it, he had argued with him many times about the decision of a war--he still supported his friend. He could only hope the war would stop soon, and end in a peaceful way.
"No, not taking a break. I finished selling my papers early today," he said, a slightly proud tone in his voice as he scooted over to make room for his friend.

Jack sat down, breathing out a bit, a smirk on his face. "I darsay you did it in a less than 'honorable' way..you know..that honor thing you always go on about."
He shrugged. "Is hate to bring up the war 'n all..knowin you weren't always happy with the decision--but it should be over soon. Spot is holdin' out...but Ace went neutral. I want this over." He ran a hand through is dark brown hair.
"Yous were probably right about it all." That was saying a lot. Jack hardly ever admitted he was wrong directly to David.

"It's just 'improvin' da truth a little.'" David replied, mimicking Jack's New York accent with a smile.
At the issue of war, the boy inwardly groaned. It was all the newsies spoke off, and quite frankly, it was getting to the point where he hated to be on the subject. But this was Jack, and he'd let his friend rant and rave, at least for a while. He was shocked by the fact that the Manhattan Leader was admitting he was wrong showed how much distaste he had for the war. When he had finished, David had a thoughtful look on his face.
"I don't know much about war, Jack," he said slowly. "But it doesn't make sense. Sure, a newsie was killed, but why? Who'd kill off a newsie? Not to be offensive, but why would they waste their time on a street rat? Spike didn't have much money, and the boroughs weren't at war when he was killed. There's something bigger behind this, there has to be."

Jack nodded. "We found out, David. Delanceys." He said it matter of factly. "...I don't know why we didn't think of it earlier. They wanted to tear us newsies apart."
He sighed. "I'm still more upset about being accuse'd of havin' a kid in my burrough that would be capable of it." He rubbed his temples. "But I'm willin' to make amends...but Spot and his damn pride."
He smiled lopsidedly. "But yeahyeah...I'm sure you are about to wring my little neck talkin' about all o this. You been usin' that mouth of yours to sweetalk any goils?"

"The Delanceys?" David asked, surprised, before remembering the incident at the Distribution Center, only a while ago. Kid Blink, stabbed, Racetrack, almost losing his head(quite literally). But Morris had snapped under the taunts. Sure, he knew the brothers hated the newsies, but still. Why would they kill Spike, anyway? He hadn't been a common pest, not like Racetrack or Jack. Perhaps it was for fun, and they didn't know how it would affect the boroughs. While still a little suspicious, he decided to let it slide. It could mean everything, and it could mean nothing.
"If I had gone through with all the times I wanted to wring your neck, Jack, you'd be dead a thousand times over," David stated easily, grinning slightly. At the Manhattan Leader's words, the tips of his ears turned red with embarrassment. He didn't blush, luckily. "No, but I've heard a certain Brooklynite seems to be following you around. What's her name? Alley Cat?" he grinned, silently thanking Firecracker's--a newsgirl who always got on his nerves--big mouth for once in his life.

"I'm glad to know I've been spared your death from on high." He said, shaking his hands in mock fear.
Jack groaned. "...I have no idea who she is! Some new Brooks girl...why she follows me around, I don't know!" He gave a lopsided smirk. "It couldn't be my dashing good looks or eloquent words." He laughed at the last phrase...he was a fast talker, but never one for eloquency.
"Besides. I dunno. Is maybe got my eye on someone." He shrugged a bit, pulling out a cigarette to smoke.

David laughed. It had been a long time since he had just had a decent conversation with someone without the war being dragged into it. And it had been even longer since his laugh was not from bitter irony. At the moment, it was good just to relax with his friend.
"Oh?" he asked, cocking an eyebrow, grinning. "And who caught the attention of the infamous Jack Kelly, Leader of the Manhattan Newsies?"

Jack smirked. He wasn't too sure of his feelings yet, and wasn't completely comfortable voicing it--he wasn't even sure she felt the same.
"Oh...I's been thinkin' I could do with some love from you David? Oh please tell me I'm not too late!" He made a mock dramatic gesture before breaking down in a good laugh. "Nah...I just don't know what she thinks yet...I wanna keep it under wraps.." He smiled lopsidedly at his close friend.

David rolled his eyes at his friend's immaturity, though he too ended up laughing. It was good to see that Jack was enjoying himself, an occurrence that was growing more and more rare as the war progressed. While he was curious who the infamous Jack Kelly had affections for, he decided not to push it. As trustworthy as he was, the Jacobs boy had a feeling his close friend wouldn't give out the name no matter how sly and casual the questions were.
"Alright, alright," he said, holding up his hands in mock defeat while rolling his eyes. "I can take a hint."

Jack ran a hand through his chestnut hair. "So..whatcha doing the rest of the day Davvvy?" He smirked. " I want to do something fun for a change." Something to keep the thoughts of the War outta his head. He hadn't had a day for fun since the war started. And he felt this might be his only chance for a while.
