Flick just laughed. "I didn't think so, but ya always have ya choices."

"We all do. Everyone needs to decide wea'h their loyalties lie. I know where mind do," Spot turned to look at Flick intensly, "Do you?"

"Loyalties? Yeah, I have dem. But de wouldn't be what ya think de are or what they should be. Just because ya believe in what one person is doin' doesn't mean ya should trust and defend everyone on dat side. And I don't think dat we should blame people for bein' on da opposite side," Flick looked intently at the racetrack and then turned his head to look at Spot. "I believe what your doin' but I think dat this may end up gettin' out of all of our hands."

Spot listened what he had to say. He didn't agree-he would die in fighting for Brooklyn if he had too-but this kid had a way of making him respect him. "Hey, whatev'h woiks for you. Now I aint goin' around causing random fights. Alls I want is to keep Queens and 'Hatten out of Brooklyn. It's safer for everyone."

"Yeah, as long as de all know ta stay outta heah. And I don't like fightin' unless ders a cause. Remember dat about me. I don't get mad easy but if ya do ya ain't gonna like me," Flick continued to look at Spots eyes so he knew what kind of person he was.

Spot shrugged, he guessed they had a mutual understanding. "But what makes something worthY?"

"Whateveh ya think is worthy. Everyone is different, depends on values and experience. I know I don't value da somethings youse do," Flick didn't' know how to explain it, "just remember dat and ya might find ya understand people more. Take dis 'war' for one, do ya even know what da otheh boroughs are goin' through? Don't get me wrong I believe what ya doin' but is it da best way ta go?"

"You act like I plan dis war all by me onesie. Not so true. I don't know what da udda boroughs are going through, but I ca't be much worse den what Brookyn. We lost a newsie for God sakes. Dont forget dat."

"Ya, I know dat. It just I want dis war ta be ovah. Its tearin' all dat newsies apart, whetheh de wanna admit or not," Flick knew that if this war didn't end soon that a lot of friendships were going to be broken. He just prayed that it didn't go to far.

"Everyone is losin' a lot of friends. I know dis and I wasn't eveh heah when da war started. Ya know if ya all weren't so stubborn ya might have...still could work ta getheh ta figure out who killed da kid. Ya may even end up wit more allies dat way," Flick looked over at Spot to see his reaction.

Spot scowled, he hated when other newsies, those who weren't present at the leader meeting, blamed him for the whole war. "What I tink you means to say is dat if FOUR of us wasn't so stubborn."

Flick looked up at Spot and smiled, "Ya dats what I mean. I think it comes wit bein' a leadeh."

((new day))
Racetrack wandered through the crowd, up to his usual seat. He had his hat pulled low over his face and he glanced around nervously at the faces. War or no war, he was going to go insane if he had to lose any more money at the Queens track.
