She smiled at him. "Thanks Ace..." she gave him one last hug and made her way over to the lodging house. She gripped the door and gave Ace a two fingered salute before pulling it open and stepping inside....

((New Day))
Avalanche was back in town! And... working in Brooklyn as a Dock Worker. He didn't want to go back to life as a newsie, and since working at the docks paid more that's where he was! He needed money... he always needed money. He was exploring Brooklyn a bit. Hadn't been there for a while, and liked to see how the place had changed. As he walked he whistled a favorite song of his that the newsies used to sing all the time, "Carryin' the Banner." His eyes went from one building to the next as he walked.

Fancy strolled along the sidewalk, her hair flowing freely down her back. She spotted a figure coming towards her and squinted her eyes. He looked familiar. Almost... to... familiar... As she drew nearer her heart almost lept out of her chest. "AVALANCHE!" she screamed at the top of her lungs, running towards him and embracing him in a bear hug.

Avalanche stumbled backwards. What do ya know... someone he knew. Unfortunatly... he hadn't seen her face before she hugged him, but... no worries, he'd know that scream anywhere. "Fancy!" he said hugging her back with a smile. It had been ages... it seemed like it anyway. "How ya been?" he said. "Lemme look at you." He held his arms out in front of him and looked her up and down once. "Wow... I've been gone too long... you must have grown a foot!" Avalanche had been gone an awful long time after all... and last he knew Fancy was taking over for him as leader... times have changed.

Fancy giggled and smiled widley at Avalanche. "I know eh?" she teased. "I miss having you around leader!" she said cheerily. "Where ya been?"

"Ooohhh... here and there, and everywhere. Just came in on the train from Virginia... Dazzle helped me get some money, and she and I came back just before the funeral... I know the whole story," he said. "Too bad about that kid... it must really be makin' people angry to cause this much of a war..." he said shaking his head. "But... 'nuff about that. How have YOU been?" he asked letting go of her shoulders, and putting his hands in his pockets.

She smiled at him sadly. "yah... its all pretty screwed up... personally i like to blame it on Spot... but thats just because i can..." she sighed and took his arm, walking slowly down the road in the direction the he had been going. She glanced at her feet before looking up at him, her eyes glinting with delight. "I'm getting married..." she offered and held her hand up for inspection.

Avalanche froze in his tracks. He looked at the ring on her finger. "You must be marrin' a millionare..." he said. "Dat's beautiful. What sap was lucky enough ta get you while you was still young?" he asked her in a little bit of amazement. Though, his coment was uncertain of exactly who it was insulting. He liked to do that.

Fancy laughed. "Um actually... Red...." she smiled at her friend... "Red Russiani..."

"Red?" he said looking at her with a slightly skeptical look about him. "Red Russiani? Red-the-guy-who-was-training-Spot-Conlon-to-be-leader-of-Brooklyn? That Red?" Avalanche looked hat her in disbleif. Then his face turned back into a smile. "Lucky sap..." he said. He loved to blow things out of porportion like that, and then... act as if nothing were strange about it. Avalanche had interesting thought paterns. "I ain't seen Red in forever..."

Fancy raised her eyebrows at him. "Yah.. thats the one..." she stared at him, then her eyes narrowed slightly defensivly. "Why? shouldn't I marry him? Do you have something against him Alex?" she asked, using his real name. She always got a little defensive when Avalanche did things such as this. But she loved him anyways, never really able to get mad at him fully.

Avalanche thought for a second. "Nooo... no, I'm pretty sure I don't have anything against him... just havn't seen him in a while... wouldn't mind seein' him again..." he wondered if he still got drunk often, but didn't say anything. "He good to ya?" he asked. Avalanche took care of his newsies like a father when they'd let him.

Fancy nodded slowly at first then increased to a regular pace. "Yah he's good to the both of us..." she said, smiling shyly, laying a hand on her stomach.

"Well good to know that he's good to bot-... both? What do you mean by... both?" Though... the way Fancy had her hand on her stomach, and the dazed dreamy look in her eyes Avalanche could already guess exactly what Fancy meant by 'both' and to be honest, it made him smile.

Fancy gazed at the ground, a silly sort of smile plastered across her beautiful face. "I'm pregnant 'lanche..." she said quietly. She looked up at him, gazing into his eyes. "It was a shock to say the least..."
