He raised a hand and pointed a finger at her. "No. No Mr. Snuggles." He shivered, "And you cant call me Larkin around the others either. No one knows are names, and i would like it to stay dat way."

"Undehstood, Lahkin in private, and no Snuggles, but Ise can't make any promises about huggin' and tea," Drifter responded easily. She still didn't get why so many people were afraid of him.

"Two! That's like askin' me to breath only twice a day!" Drifter said incredulously. "What if Ise just avoid huggin' you in front of people like Spot and yoah brothah and Ise promise not to get a runnin' staht," she bargained in a teasing voice.

Drifter grinned, knowing she won, again. She had a knack for this sort of thing. "Ise not a monkey you know, Ise just real affectionate is what me fathah used to say. Ise can't be seen huggin' you everywheah anyway, I'd get in trouble meself."

"Well dear deartháir, while this is quite fun, Ise got money to make and you got, hmm, what do you do?" Drifter asked not really sure whether or not her new friend was even a newsie.

He raised his eyebrows at how she chose to address him, but answered the question nonetheless. "I was a newsie, but it seems my brother and i must seek work elsewhere..." He shrugged, "I've been up to the track, seeing if i can get a job there."
