OOC: Ace only please.
Drifter made her way through the busy streets of the Bronx. By time she reached the lodging house the sun was beginning to set. Her knapsack was slung diagonally across her back, carrying her few items of clothes and what little money she had left after buying herself supper. Drifter's fiddle was shut away in its case and held it to her chest tightly.
Her heather grey cap was placed slightly askew over her dark brown locks that were starting to slip from the french braids she usually kept them back in. The skirt of her dirty light green dress swished around her ankles as she stopped in front of the house. There were a few kids inside from what she could hear, but she couldn't help but feel nervous. The newsies she knew in her childhood treated her like a kid sister and the newsies in Philly came to her with a job offer. For all Drifter knew this Ace was going to toss her out on her rear. Sighing gently, she ducked into the alley to collect her thoughts.
It was then she heard a window snap open above her. Looking up, she watched as a boy not much older than her climbed onto the fire escape. She planned on slinking into the shadows, but was interupted when the boy looked down and spotted her. Drifter knew it was now or never, so she gave the boy a small wave and shouted up. She enevr thought her Bosotn accent sounded more noticiable.
"Hullo theah! I'se lookin' foh Ace, you know wheah I could find him?"

Ace's eyebrow raised as he swung over the fire escape and dropped to the ground in front of her. Wiping a strand of his ebony hair from his face, he peered at her with startling midnight blue eyes.
"Well, ya found him." His own Boston accent was slightly blurred now that he lived in New York, but it was still easily recognized. "Now, da only question is, why were ya lookin?"

Drifter jumped a bit, startled by the boy landing in front of her. However, it was the accent that really go to her. She stood a little closer to the boy trying to figure him out, but the eyes looked so familiar.
"Danny," she asked in an almost whisper, "Nevahmind," she said equally quietly, "I thought I knew you foh a minute theah."
She trailed off for a second there, before remebering why she was there in the first place, "Some girls from Manhatten told me that if I was looking for a place in NY youse might be able to help me."

He was looking at her, his head cocked to the side for a moment, "What did you call me?" He asked quietly, completely ignoring the rest of her sentance.
She looked familiar, eerily so. From a time long past, a family forgotten. And then it clicked, and his mouth fell open.
"Roisin?" He murmurred.

'Roisin?'
That one word stopped Drifter dead, she hadn't been called that since she left Boston all those years ago. Looking up she grinned and launched herself at the boy for a hug, her fiddle case thumping against his back.
"Danny! I can't believe this," she chuckled happily, "And it's Drifter now. I haven't been Roisin for a long time goin. But what about you Mr. Bronx Leadah? What the heck ah you doin in NY?"

He laughed and hugged her back, holding her at arms length to look her over. "What are you?' He shot back playfully, "You've grown up on me when i wasn't lookin."
His face darkened a little when she had asked what he was doing in New York but it passed quickly, and was replaced by that wide grin.

Grinning, Drifter swotted Da, ergh, Ace's arm playfully.
"Well it'd been eight yeahs, I suppose it was bound to happen! As for why yoah heah I always known youd eventually get the hell out of yoah house. I just nevah spected you to come all the way down heah."

Drifter looked in the direction of the house, "yea, I've been sleepin in alleys and Central Pahk foh the last week. Is hate it out theah, can't sleep when I'm too busy worryin that someone's gonna try and steal my stuff."
She getured to her case in hand, "I've been playin this to get my meals, the hoity-toity types in the pahk tip real good but I wouldn't mind sellin a few papes in the mohrnin. I fronted when I was in Philly, but nevah had to sell much on my own."

His eyebrow shot up to his hairline, "Seems like we have some catching up to do." Jumping up he caught a hold of the fire escape and pulled himself up, kicking out the folding ladder. "Come on." He grinned.

Drifter returned his grin and tucked her case into her knapsack. She quickly made her way to the fire escape in order to follw Ace up.

He laughed, "Dat's a borin story." He told her as he hopped up onto the roof and breathed in deeply. "I like it up heah- you can see my city." He hardly realized he had used 'my' as he leaned out over the edge and took in the sight that was the Bronx.

Drifter did not miss a beat when Ace said 'my city'. She looked out over the Bronx and felt a twinge of homesickness. No matter where she went, she'd always think of Boston as home. Sighing lightly, she set her bag down on the ground and sat down on the edge near Ace.
"It is somthing alright. I don't think I've evah stayed anywheah long enough to think of it as mine. I miss Boston, but theahs nothing left foh me theah. Been in moah homes than I can count since Is was a kid. Foh once, I'd like to stay somewheah long enough to put down some roots. Ya lnow?"

Putting his head in his hands, he sighed. "Daniel Cardoni is dead, Drifter." He spoke softly, barely above a whisper, "He was buried in Cambridge, and he'll stay there. Im Ace now, with people to protect and a city to look over. But to what you say, i understand, and as long as you want it, Bronx will be your home."
