Jack sat down at the corner table, checking to see if any newsies were there. He saw a few familiar faces, but none of his boys. Leaning back in his chair he folded his arms over his chest and watched people come in and out of the restaurant. He ordered a water, it was all he could afford, and hoped that one of the other boys would join him soon.

Race walked into Tibby's, his head low and fist clenched. Seeing Jack he headed over, plopping down in the chair besdie him and putting his head down. "Heya Jack," he said, his voice muffled by the table.

"Hey Race," Jack said, smiling as his friend sat down. But his smile dissapeared when he saw the look on Racetrack's face.
"What's up?" He asked, ordering another water for him. "You stay out too late with a girl last night or somethin'?"

He sighed and sat up grinning faintly at Jack's suggestion. "Nah, I lost it Jack. I lost it all. I'd been savin' for ovah t'ree weeks now, an' it's gone." He sunk down in his chair. "I'm nevah goin' to da tracks again."

Jack snorted into his glass. He didn't want to laugh at his friend's misfortune but really, never again? His name was Racetrack after all.
"Don't worry, you'll be back there tomorrow." He said, still laughing. "And if you're lookin' for food you can always ask Medda for a nickle."

He shrugged at the suggestion. "Yea I guess you're right." He picked up the glass of water that the waiter must have brought while his head was on the table and took a sip. "Maybe I'll try out da track in Queens... dat is, aftah I save enough so as not ta be laughed outta dare."
"So how's it goin' with you Jack? Anythin' excitin' goin' on in da 'leadah' woild?" He grinned into his glass as he took another sip.

"Eh, not much." Jack said with a shrug. "Still need to talk to that new Queens leader. You ever met her? Her name's Prince."
Jack had just recently met the girl, and liked her, so far as leaders go. He still thought it was odd that a girl would want to be a leader; she must be the butt of a lot of jokes.

Racetrack raised an eyebrow. "her?" he shook his head. "nah, I coulda sworn da new Queens fella was a .. well a fella. What makes ya t'ink he's a she, huh?"

Race nodded thoughtfully. "A girl leadah huh? Well ya don't see that every day do ya? Why d'you suppose she dresses that way?"

"Nonya business," Prince said over hearing the boys conversation. She'd just come in the front door, and had heard her name. Her hair was up in her hat, hiding the fact she was a girl, but her voice was high like a girl's. It was safe just then, and wouldn't hurt nothin' with these boys around. All newsies could know her secret... except for the Delancey's that is, but she'd always avoid telling why anyway she could.. "Nice too meet youse," she said with a smile. Prince had heard of Jack more than just meeting him once. She knew a lot about him from the strike, and more, though it wasn't until recently she got to formally meet him, and as far as things go... she rather liked him, and only knew him a little (which for Prince to develop anything close to a crush to her was foreign). "Da name's Prince. Mind if I have a seat?" she asked the boys.

Race grinned sheepishly at being heard. "Of corse" he said, kicking out the chair across from him. "Nice ta meet ya Prince, I'm Racetrack, or Race if ya want."

"Race, pleased ta meetcha," she said sliding the chair around, and sitting on it backwards leaning in the back of the chair towards the table. "I see youse already know my secret, so I dun hafta explain myself to yas." It always made introductions easier when they already knew.

"No, ya don't." Jack agreed, grinning at Prince. He was a bit embarrassed at having her overhear their conversation, but he didn't let it show. At least she didn't seem to take offense.
"So, Prince..." He said, ordering yet another glass of water. "What's the news in your part of town? I haven't seen ya in a while."
