A wide smile grew on Reids face as she told him her name. "Christiana, that's nice. Reid that's what I call myself." He winked and took a drink from his glass.

Christiana grinned as she placed her cigar in between her teeth, taking a few puffs before putting it out. "So, Reid," she said slowly, emphasizing his name, "What brings you here?"
He didn't look old enough to be hanging around in bars, nor the type.

Reid shrugged, "Looking to play a bit of poker." He didn't usually frequent these types of establishments. He'd rather be off walking in the park but after the conversation he'd had with his sister he thought he'd try his luck. He didn't usually play with anyone but her, but some had called his sister Aces back in Jersey due to her skills as a player. That is until she lost all of their money and then some and they had to get out of dodge fast.

New Day Lucky had left Brooklyn after the return and took a long swig from her glass as she sat at the end of the bar. At that moment she didn't give a damn about anyone, she didn't want too. Kids died, people died all the time and she refused to let it bother her. She'd helped save that Manhattan girl, but she still felt empty. Taking the shot she slammed her glass back down and tossed it across the bar before she laid her head on the cool wood of the bar. She was saying by to Sneaks in her way maybe, finally letting him go so she could be with River and not feel like she was wrong. She never wanted to feel that. Luckily, she only felt like all she needed right now WAS River and that was what she felt might be wrong. Shouldn't she mourn Sneaks some, shouldn't she be sad? When the glass slid down the bar she caught it and tipped her head back for another shot. She didn't feel anything about him anymore. Was that really wrong?

When River walked in the bar he glanced around to see if anyone he knew was there and smiled when his eyes landed on Lucky. It'd been a hard day getting everybody together to tell them about Perry. He'd been in the house when Reid had told Lexi and her scream of pain still echoed in his head. Seeing her though pushed it away and he felt like he could finally feel happy and not feel guilty about it.
Walking over he took a seat next to Lucky and ordered a beer and a round of what she was drinking before he glanced over at her. He studied her appearance, taking in any cuts and bruises that were visible and raised his hand to brush her back. "Hey..."
He wasn't really sure what to say, he didn't know if any Brooklyn kids had been seriously hurt or killed. He'd lost count of how many had fallen because he'd been too caught up in trying to keep himself alive. When the bartender brought over the beer and shots he raised the shotglass and tossed it back savoring the burn as it made it's way down his throat.

She felt River's hand on her hair and her eyes slid closed, Bye Sneaks. It was time, and she was tired of feeling worthless. She lifted her head and turned to look at him, to see his scrapes and brusies. The cuts, she'd seen what had happened to a bunch of the Manhattan boys and she reached up to touch his face before she slid into his lap and wrapped her arms around his neck. She hadn't seen Birdie, or Decker. And she'd been almost afraid she wouldn't see him at the end.
She was more worse for wear than when they'd left, but she was doing what she did with so few people. She leaned, and pressed her face into his neck so she could get some grounding. Lucky was always a tough cookie, she was Brooklyn. She was tough, but she was also a girl. And people forgot that often, she wore skirts and boots-- she could act like a lady. But when it came down to it, she was still only a seventeen year old girl. "Zeke won't talk to anyone, that Perry kid died in his arms.."

River smiled when she sank into his lap and wrapped his arms around her. He ran his hands through her hair and just held her close, thanking god that she hadn't been harmed too much. He rarely saw this side of her but it was one that he looked forward to he just didn't like that she was still bruised and not quite herself. When she spoke he sucked in a breath. He hadn't known that and he felt for the guy. It would tear him apart if that had happened to him.
He layed his head on top of hers and hugged her even closer if that was possible. He honestly didn't know what to say to that because it was a horrible situation. He'd been avoiding Reid and Lexi because he didn't deal with grief and sorrow very well. "Yeah...Lexi's pretty broken up about it..." And that was putting it mildly. He hadn't heard a peep from her since she'd let out that cry filled with anguish and pain. "She was knocked out before they found him and Reid had to tell her."

"I'm an only child, I dunno what I'd do if I lost a sibling." She never had them to worry about, it was just her. It had really always been just her. Lucky and Smalls vs. The world. She'd been that way for years, all she could do was cling to River and say nothing more. She rarely let someone see her soft sighed. Her skirts were dirty, she wore a shirt and a jacket since it was starting to get cold. Her face lifted slowly from his shoulder and she sniffed a little before she pressed it back and let it rest there.
"I'm so stupid sometimes," it was in a whisper, Brooklyn was an army that marched to the beat of it's own drum. Lucky-- well she was her own person and did what she liked. Doing what she liked had pissed off Spot more than once but he still trusted her. "All I did was save some Manhattan girl and pass her off to Bumlets... I didn't really do much but--- " she sighed, she just hurt people when they attacked her. That was how it worked.

"I dunno either, Lucks." He stroked her hair slowly. He thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of her in his arms even if the circumstances weren't the way he wanted it to happen. It didn't matter to him what she looked like because to him she would be beautiful no matter what.
When she looked up and said she was stupid sometimes he rubbed her cheek with his other hand and shook his head. "You're far from stupid. You were brave, getting that girl out of there." He understood the way she was because he'd watched her from afar for so long. He loved the person that she was and wouldn't want her to change for anything.

She felt his hand against her cheek, and smiled a bit awkwardly. Her face awash of a lot of things. She was terribly lonely for one, sure she had Smalls and always would but she could be alone with her best friend at her side. She felt abandoned by her family and the man that claimed to love her. River'd never gone anyway.
"I wasn't brave, I was just doing." she was doing what she always did, took charge and reacted. She watched his eyes and let her head fall a little bit. "I just want to be with you, you know? It's kind of weird... though I've wanted to for awhile..." but she felt like she would be betraying Sneaks until recently. When she realized he was never coming back.

River smiled and dropped his hand from her cheek. "I've wanted to just be with you for years, Lucks. I just never said anything cause he was in the picture." And when he wasn't it always seemed as though Lucky never even glanced at another.
He sighed a bit and reached around her to grab his beer and take a gulp from it. "You know you mean the world to me. I'd do anything for you." He'd kill for her if she asked. Hell even if she didn't ask and someone wronged her in anyway he'd be out for blood. He wished he'd been able to kill the pig who had hurt her so badly.

She lifted her head just a little bit and ran her hand over her neck before her hands found his shirt and she fisted her hands in the cloth, biting her lip as she tried to find words. "I feel like I took you for granted, Chris.." Maybe she had, knowing that he was there with her. And always would be, she stared at his chest as she silently hated herself just a little bit more.
"Your... the only person I want to be with. I feel kind of cheated.." because she was loyal, because she'd fallen in love with someone else first. Because she was stupid and stubborn and Brooklyn Proud.

"You didn't take advantage of me, Miranda." It wasn't possible for her to take advantage of him. He'd known where her heart had been but he couldn't stop himself from caring about her. He could never look at another woman in that way because in his mind it had always been Lucky who held his heart.
A small smirk crossed his face when she said she felt cheated because in some ways he had felt that on days when he would see her with Sneaks. But Sneaks was gone, out of the picture and Lucky had made it clear that she wanted to be with no one but him. All his hard work had payed off and he wouldn't screw it up like that jackass had. "Well you're with me now and I'm not going anywhere."

She felt that and she smiled a little bit, don't screw it up Miranda. Actually she saw the smug look on his face and all she could do was kind of grin. He had his smug moments that just made him adorable to the Brooklynite. And she'd never tell a soul, save Smalls. Because Smalls would somehow know anyway.
Her hand still fisted smartly in his shirt she leaned her body against his and then grinned as her nose touched his. "Good. Swear you won't.." there was some pleading in her voice under the smile and the teasing. She didn't want to be abandoned again.

"I swear, Miranda." And that was a promise he would keep. He never had any plans on leaving the city and if he did he would make sure she came with him. First of all he had to many obligations to his borough. He couldn't possibly leave Dodger after everything that had happened. Especially considering what his friend was going through now with Lexi.
He didn't even bother to fight the urge to kiss her, he just leaned forward and placed a quick kiss on her lips. He pulled back before she had time to react and waited for the stinging slap he was sure to come. She may like him but he wasn't sure she would be okay with him taking those liberties. Not that it mattered to him, he had been wanting to know what her lips felt like on his and now he knew. They felt perfect.
