Joe smirked a part of his old charm returning. "I never just get back from anywhere love. Heard you missed me." He winked at her.
He knew he had been gone long, and by the lack of familiar faces he knew he had missed a lot.
"Also heard you had a fight with a bird I know." He looked at her, really looked at her. She was there, but she wasn't. The fight wasn't the same, it was a tired fight now. He saw the lines the three D's leave on you. Drugs, Death and Drink. He was thankful for Davey. He had held his Fight together as well as he could, well she wasn't his, she wasn't anyones but he took responsibility for those he allowed close. It was few and far between.
"Tell Riley I say hi," He added letting Mallory know she didnt have to talk about the fight if she didnt want to. Also his name alone would make sure the kid checked twice what he gave Fight and make sure it was right, clean, would do what it was suppose to and not leave her in the alley in a coma. He had already dealt with Bird in one. He wouldnt take the escape away from Fight but he could make sure it was safe until she got off it herself.

Fighter couldn't help but chuckle at his words and duck her head for a moment before glancing his way. "Missed you? Hardly...barely noticed you were gone," Fighter's lips formed a smirk as she spoke. Of course she had noticed he'd disappeared, she considered him one of her closest friends but she wasn't the type to say or acknowledge that aloud. "A fight?" She questioned as she quirked her eyebrow innocently. She wasn't going to admit to a fight she had with anyone without knowing the specifics of what he knew.
If Joe was looking for a reaction with his mention of Riley, she certainly gave him one. At least as much of a reaction as she was capable of. Her eyes widened and she raised the pint to her lips quickly to cover the surprise of him knowing Riley and knowing that she knew him as well. Fighter kept her life extremely private and she knew that some may know a few things about her but she was good at covering her tracks. After finishing the pint she lowered the glass to the bar and ordered another from the bartender. She turned her gaze towards Joe and forced herself to smile before taking a drag of her cigarette. "I can do that," She said with a small smile.

Joe grabbed his chest. "You wound me to the quick love. Here I thought you were waiting patiently by your window for my return. Pining away your precious heart," Joe was somehow able to say with a completely straight face. He liked this broad, she had a better pokerface than most. He knew he wouldnt be able to get much out of her. Heck he wouldnt try. He respected the Hell out of her too much. He took a drag.
"Just somethin I heard on my wanderins. Wouldn't want to think it was too serious I like it when my best dames are in the same room together. I got brains, beauty and fight all in one place. I'd nevah have to leave."
He pulled his cap off and rubbed his mass of hair now on his head before placing the cap on fighters head and chucking her chin. He liked her guarded. It keep people safe. God knew he hadn't been around too. But that happens when your too old to be put in the refuge and instead you get hourly beatings by guards in Prison. He had blood on his hands but others had his on theirs. I can do that "Good," Joe said. "So, how's lover boy?" He winked "I've been gone too long all my dames have taken up with Gents."

Fighter chuckled and shook her head at Joe's antics. She had certainly missed having him around, mostly because he had the innate ability to make her laugh at the most unexpected moments. Not many people were capable of that and she supposed it was one of the reasons she'd become such good friends with him. "Well, what did you hear?" She asked with a small smirk as she took another drink from her pint. At this point she honestly wasn't sure who he was referring too.
She shoved his hand away when he chucked her chin and reached out to mess his hair. "You need a cut," Fighter said with a smirk. His hair was longer then she'd ever seen it and if she was even halfway decent with a pair of clippers she'd offer to cut it, but she wasn't. Fighter nearly choked on her drink at his words, but swallowed quickly before shooting him a narrow eyed glance. "What are you talking about?" As far as she knew only Hawk and Birdie knew about Davey and Joe saying all this stuff to her and knowing so much was making her a bit suspicious. That probably had to do with the fact that she was pretty sure Scar was tailing her again, so her guard was up even more then usual.

"I Dont know nothing," Joe frowned. He'd been out of the game too long. Those he cared for most he knew what he knew but he only knew vague outlines and mutterings. "Just heard a few words that you and bird had a little sparring wit youah own words."
He ran his hand through his hair, took a drag and blew the smoke so it moved the hair out of his eyes. "Yeah...you know its debonair and makes the girls swoon. I may just keep it." He said before he looked at her and saw the suspicion.
"Girlie don't you dare go comparin me in that head of youahs to that Scar Gent. I knew before you two knew that you were goin to get together. It was a little sickening to watch but I was a true gentleman and kept my trap shut," he said turning to her and coming close to smacking her upside the head.
He was not some worthless Gangster no matter how much the bulls tried to treat him like one. Like a dog. He shook his head and closed his eyes taking a deep drag of the cigarette and then the bottle. "Don't even think it Aisla, I know I havent been here for the clean up but I didnt have a choice." He said quietly and a bit broken like before he blew the hair out of his eyes again and shot her a smirk.
"Though you sure seemed to clean up good," He winked.

Birdie raised a brow when she heard that familiar know it all voice, she narrowed her eyes-- walking over to where Fighter and Joe of all people were sitting. The dane folded her arms across her chest and leaned her hip against a bar stool, shifting her eyes from one person to the other. "Your an idiot," she muttered punching Joe in the forearm, it was enough to give a solid smack but not enough to do any harm. What she was referring to it was really hard to tell. His absence or his --- well-- general Joeisms that were completely and utterly irritating.
"You ever hear that silence is golden ya cocky bastard? Going on about things you shouldn't, are you absolutely insane?" Her voice was a slight his, him talking and using Fighter's real name-- in the bar no less that had gotten more and more popular recently. Idiot. But what did she expect when he'd been gone so long, as always he was running his mouth flaunting his knowledge with a smirk, It had the little blond narrowing her eyes before she hit him again. "Missed you dingus."

Fighter just quirked an eyebrow at him and shrugged a shoulder. She hadn't had verbal disagreement with anyone lately besides Jewel and that had been much more then verbal. She wasn't sure why that would attract his attention though and figured he was referring to something else. Obviously it wasn't something important because she couldn't even recall it and she was never so in the cup that she forgot disagreements. A small smirk flitted across her lips when he said his hair was debonair. "Or so you think."
Fighter leaned forward on the bar after finishing her pint. "I don't know how you could've seen anything considering you weren't around," Her words had a bit of bite behind them, but her tone was purely sarcastic. She hadn't forgotten how quickly information reached her old friend even if he had taken her by surprise. If that's how he wanted her to think he got it she wouldn't press the topic. She knew that there was no possible way for him to have known before them considering how spur of the moment the relationship had been. Hawk had stumbled upon them purely because she'd let her guard down. Fighter was sure someone had told him or he'd overheard something he shouldn't have, but she didn't care enough to find out. Instead she shrugged her shoulder again and ordered two glasses of whiskey and pushed one in his direction. She still had some of the money she'd won at the ring so she wasn't against sharing a bit of it.
She tilted her head to stare at him for a moment before her lips widened into a small smile at his compliment. "I know... Now stop calling me Aisla you big oaf before I sock you in the face." Her expression mirrored innocence that the malice in her words clearly contradicted. She turned towards Birdie when she heard the girl. "Same ol' Joe..." She trailed off because that was just an automatic response from her but she could tell even in the short time they'd been talking that something had changed.

Joe pretended to wince at the onslaught of punches from the little Dane. "You've gotten stronger little Boird, and wise as usual," He said. "But you know you were the only one within ear shot and I saw you the minute you walked through that door in all your compact glory."
He shot Bird a punch back and let his arm drape around her in casual friendship before nodding to Fight in acceptance of the drink and pushed the bottle of whiskey towards her as a switch.
"But she's right as usual, truly one of the best Conlon's Boirds we have here. Its why I could never be one. Me mouth always got me in trouble....well that and the fact I drove all the dames mad with lust Conlon was jealous," He winked at a dame across the bar and the poor girl nearly swooned in broad public. He smirked. Too damn easy sometimes.
He also knew that though Conlon and him had a rocky relationship he respected the hell out of the kid and at least their relationship was built on mutual accordance to give each other space expect in extreme situations.
He winced a bit at Fights comment about not being there not that he showed it. Just the tightening around his eyes showed any reaction to the comment. More it just stung close to where his heart is rumoured to be. "Touche, Love. This point is yours." He said.
"Same ol' Fight too. Punching first, name calling second. Consider my mouth sealed on all of the above. As long as you seal it with a kiss," He winked at her not in the least bit serious. He leaned back and took a swig, his arm still comfortably around Bird. This is where he belonged he reminded himself, right now it was still foreign and he couldnt quiet get comfortable, so he took another drag and cracked his neck.

Birdie snorted, it was true that he had a mouth and she let him hang his arm around her. This was friendship, and a good one too. Joe'd taken her to the hospital, dragged her around and scolded her like the motormouth he was. But something had her looking up at him, a brow raising in curiosity and mild--- worry. She was a bit worried, something wasn't feeling just right at the moment but she let it go and ordered herself a beer.
She didn't say what she was thinking, that Fighter was wrong and he didn't seem exactly like the same old Joe. Instead she replied, "Only more humble.."

Fighter watched Joe closely as he drank the shot she had pushed towards him. Something had happened while he was away, she was sure of it. As good as he was at reading her she was just as good at reading him. When he pushed the bottle of whiskey towards her she shot him a genuine smile and poured a shot for herself. "We know that, Joey," She grinned as she accentuated his name. She threw back the shot before putting the glass back on top of the bar. "Good thing you weren't around when our newest member was...before she moved to the Bronx." Fighter couldn't help but wink playfully in his direction. "She would've been head over heels and then followed you around like a little puppy."
Fighter caught his wince at her words and immediately regretted her words because she had let her nerves get the best of her. She wasn't used to being around people as perceptive as Joe since he'd left and she'd fallen back into her smartass facade because he knew more then she was willing to share. She shot him a meaningful glance, hoping he'd see how sorry she was in her expression. She knew he hadn't deserted her like Zeke because Joe had always been far more reliable. Things had just been too overwhelming for her with everyone coming back and her emotions were bleeding into her words more then usual. She bit back a sigh and poured another shot before throwing it back.
Her stony facade was firmly in place again when Joe spoke once more and she winked at him. "A kiss?" She asked in mock offense, "Why I am a lady you can't just ask for a kiss?" She smirked and tossed her arm over his shoulder before leaning close. "Missed you," She said quietly. Fighter pecked his cheek lightly and gave him wide smile before messing his hair.
She turned her attention towards Birdie at her words and gave the girl a significant look. Fighter knew something was off about Joe and she could tell that Birdie could feel it as well. She knew neither of them would pressure him to explain himself, but she hated seeing him like this. "Aye, that he is," She said with a smirk. "Who would ever think Joe could be humble?" The tone of her voice and the expression on her face showed that she was trying to lighten the mood. "Are you going to dance a jig with me tonight, Joe?"

~New Day~ She didn't exactly know why she had ended up all the way in Brooklyn today, maybe it was the selling of her papes or simply the fact that she just absently wondered there. Her papes were gone by now and she knew she should be heading back to Manhattan soon but she really craved a drink, something to ease her mind, something to numb memories that haunted her. She walked into McGinty's with nothing more than a drink on her mind, she didn't need interaction with anyone, though if anyone wished to approach her that was their choice. She slid into a bar stool as she allowed her eyes to scan over the room briefly before she waved the bartender over and offerred a smile. "Brandy please," she ordered, her voice sincere and polite. She watched as the bartender retrieved her drink and when he slid it over to her she cupped her hands around the glass.
The dark liquid in the glass made Baby smile and she admired it for a moment, taking in the auroma, the look, the feel of the cool glass against her skin. She soon brought it to her lips and took a much needed swig before setting the glass back on the counter's surface and she purred in satisfaction. She looked down with a small sigh allowing her hair to drape into her face as she thought, if only the others knew the things she was brought up to do, many would stay far away from her, she was lucky enough to be able to hide her past...for the most part, but she knew she was not the only one with secrets. She listened as the door opened and closed, the pool balls cracked and rolled along the tables, the clinking of glasses and it soothed her for now.

Jewel sighed heavily, her breath caught in her throat as she walked into McGinty's in Brooklyn. It had been a while since she had stepped into this place.
She walked in, and scanned the crowd for familiar faces that may cause her to turn and run. She walked over to the bar stools, and ordered a drink for herself. She had had a hard day of sellin' papes in the Bronx.
She then turned around, and looked on one side of her to see a girl about her age having a drink. She looked very new to Jewel, and sure as hell didn't look like a Brooklyn girl.
"Well, hello there. How are you on this fine day?" she asked the girl.

At the sound of a voice being directed to her, Baby looked up and found herself looking at a girl who she definately knew could not be a Brooklyn with such and inviting greeting. She smiled abit and nodded at her words before speaking. "Bien...good and how are you?" she asked in return before taking another drink of her Brandy. She looked the girl over carefully, harmless and inviting, good for the both of them. She tilted her head and turned in her seat to face the girl abit more before she spoke again.
"I'm Baby, one of Jackyboy's newsies... you aren't a Hattan I know that... and you seem abit too nice to be a Brook... where ya from?" she asked in a sweet tone but still holding curiousity.

Jewel smiled at the girl. *Yup, definitely NOT a Brooklyn girl, she's too nice.* she thought to herself before answering this girl.
"I'm very good, thank you for askin' there, sweetie." she said.
Jewel went wide-eyed when she heard where this girl was from "Oh wow... I don't know any of the Manhattan boys personally, but I hear they are a nice crowd. Have they been treatin' ya good up there?" she asked the girl.
Jewel held out her hand to the girl "By the way, I'm Jewel, former Brooklyn newsie, now I work in the Bronx...and you are?" she asked the girl with a sweet smile.

She guessed the girl hadn't caught the name she had given, but Baby wasn'tone to be rude so she just took the girl's hand and nodded, repeating her name once more. "They call me Baby...nice to meet you too" she said as she shook her hand and then pulled it away slowly to grab her drink once more and take a long swig. She waved the bartender back over and ordered another and when the bartender returned with more brandy for her she grinned. "Merci..." she thanked before turning back to Jewel. "Former Brook ey? So what happened to make it former?" she asked in curiousity.
"I mean ya don't hafta tell meh if ya don't wanna..." she added, she was nosy yes and curious but she would never force someone to tell their stories if they didn't want to, it was not her place to know unless the girl wished her to.
