Scar settled quietly into the seat next to Daisy's a small smirk playing at his lips. He'd walked in a few moments ago and searched the pub looking for her frienly face. When he'd seen her sitting by the fireplace he'd gone over to the bar and gotten a beer before heading over to where she was. Now that he was sitting, Scar sipped on the beer and enjoyed the comfortable silence with her sitting by him. Turning towards her he gave her a smile. "How's your day been?"
Glancing around the place he could tell it must have been busy. The place seemed bustling for this time of day, but he figured it must have slowed a bit if she was taking a break like this.

Daisy nearly jumped when she felt someone sitting beside her, but relaxed when she saw it was Scar, sending him a small smile as he sipped on a beer. "It's been busy today," Daisy said, motioning with her hand at the still half full tables before looking back at him. "I begged off for a few minutes to take a break." Daisy loved her job most days but sometimes all that time on her feet could get tiring and there were times she couldn't wait to get home and out of her shoes.
"How was your day, Scar?" Daisy asked, knowing he wasn't likely to give her much information but the pleasantries were part of the simple friendship that had formed between them after all this time of Scar stopping into the pub.

Scar nodded his head slightly, not bothering to glance around he'd seen the place when he came in and he wasn't in the mood to be around so many people. If he hadn't seen Daisy he would've left but it was always fun to flirt with her so he figured he'd spare it a beer or two. "Eh, wasn't bad. Work is work... You look pretty today, lass. Do something different with your hair?" He smiled as he looked her way giving her a charming grin.

"Thank you Scar," Daisy said, smiling at him as she shook her head slightly. She was used to Scar's charming tongue and though she knew it was mostly just talk she played along because he had a knack of making her smile. Besides, Scar was a hard man and anything that got him smiling instead of fighting was a good thing in Daisy's book.
When he commented on her hair she reached up to touch it lightly, fingering the blue ribbon she'd tied in it, knowing that Jerry would be by later and wanting to look pretty for him. "Something a bit different, I suppose." She allowed her hand to fall back in her lap and smiled at Scar, he seemed out of sorts today and she thought about asking why, but thought better of it and nodded towards his half filled glass. "I'll get you another when you're done with that one, aye?"

Nodding his head, Scar glanced back towards the fire sipping on his beer. "So have you been doing anything interesting lately, lass?" He fingered a cigarette in his pocket but didn't pull it out. His mind was a million miles away but he was still enjoying the light conversation he had with her. It helped him relax and he had a long night ahead of him so he'd need to relax a bit. Kelly had him running around the city for him like a mad man and he'd recently put out a hefty hit on someone and Scar was looking to get the money from it.

"Interesting?" Daisy repeated, knowing that there was one thing that had been interesting in her life, but doubted Scar had much interest in her romantic status one way or the other, even if he had been there the night she'd met Jerry. "I...uh...I've been seeing a little bit of Jerry recently..." A 'little bit' was a slight understatement but as a blush stained her cheeks, Daisy saw no need to correct herself, Scar hardly needed to know that a day hadn't passed since they met that Daisy hadn't seen Jerry.

Scar glanced over at Daisy and lifted an eyebrow at her rosy cheeks, "You fancy the skitterish one?" He chuckled and leaned back in his chair. "If I'd known you liked to mother men I would've come in here and acted scared of my shadow." He gave her a wink and took another sip of his beer. He was joking for the most part.

"Aye, I fancy him," Daisy said with certainty, frowning a little at Scar's implication but knew a lot of that came from him not really knowing Jerry. As far as Daisy was concerned there wasn't a better man than Jerry Flynn and she didn't really care what others thought. She smiled and shook her head as he winked at her, flirting was just part of Scar's personality and Daisy had grown used to it over time.
"You wouldn't let a soul mother hen you Scar, farce or not," Daisy replied, shaking her head. Not that she mother henned Jerry either, he was a man in his own right, just a different kind of man though she could only imagine what Scar must have thought as he sat there eating his stew as she'd gravitated towards Jerry. "He's a good man, Scar."

His eyebrow shot up again when she said she fancied him but he continued to stare at the fire. Since he already knew the kid lived in his building he may just have to pay him a visit. Just to give him a friendly reminder that should Scar ever believe Jerry's done something to hurt Daisy he will make the kid live to regret it. Scar blinked as that thought raced through his head, it was odd of him to be more protective than jealous. Oh well, he wasn't one to dwell on his feelings.
Glancing back at Daisy a smirk played at his lips, "Too true...I don't think I would." When Daisy said Jerry was a good man, he wondered what her definition of a good man was. "Ack..lass what I am then?"

"You're a good man too, Scar, when you choose to be," Daisy said, tilting her head slightly as she watched him, wondering what was going on behind those eyes. "Jerry..." Daisy paused for a moment, searching for the right words to explain what she meant and how she felt. "Jerry has a good heart, a good mind. He's passionate about his work and his family," She sighed and looked at Scar, lifting a hand to touch the ribbon in her hair again. "He doesn't think or act with his fists but that doesn't make him less of a man, Scar." She shrugged and looked into the fire, picturing Jerry's face and it sent a smile scattering across her own.

"I'm beginning to wonder what your definition of a good man is considering you think I'm one." He finished his beer and set down the cup next to him. Standing, he glanced down at Daisy a sudden glint coming to his eyes he leaned close, "You don't know anything about me." He said it quietly but slightly harshly so she would get the point. She was far too trusting and if she honestly thought he was a good man then her judgement was terrible. He didn't have a good bone in his body and although Daisy brought out something that hadn't been there in more years than he could count it didn't change who he was.

"You won't hurt me, Scar," Daisy said, eyes flickering to Scar's for a moment and the look she saw there was enough to send a small chill up her spine. Daisy might be a trusting sort, but she wasn't stupid, she knew all that Scar was capable of but she also knew that somewhere underneath of the bluster and hard edges was a man, someone how had once been a good man. She'd seen the rare flashes of it when he'd not thought enough to keep the guard up. Whatever had happened in his life had soured him, but that didn't mean all the good parts were gone, Daisy believed there was good in everyone, you just had to dig a little harder in some than others.
"You're just trying to scare me," Daisy said, lifting her chin slightly and meeting his eyes. She knew it wouldn't do any good to analyze him, to say what she truly thought: that underneath all the anger was someone who just wanted to be cared about. "I'm not as naive as you think, I know there is ugliness out there and sometimes it's people that create that ugliness. You're kind to me, Scar. For whatever reason you are kind to me and I appreciate that." She smiled at him, continuing to hold his gaze.

Scar shook his head and ran a hand through his hair, "You're more naive than I thought actually and far too naive for a girl living in this city." He meant that because there was more ugly here than anyone could imagine. People of this city had had their spirits torn and beaten so many times he'd be willing to be that in the end they'd do anything to salvage themselves.
Pulling his cap out of his back pocket he slipped it on his head, "You may think you know me or what I'll do but you haven't a clue, lass." He sighed and gave her a stern look, "You shouldn't trust a soul and you should always carry some sort of protection." He didn't want her to be scared of him but her wanted her to think about things more thoroughly.

Daisy was quiet after Scar's speech, she knew that he was partly right and she'd been living and working in the city long enough to know what she needed to do to stay out of trouble. But she also refused to believe that people were inherently evil, that everyone was out to hurt her or harm her in some way. She simply couldn't believe that to be true, now when she'd witnessed so much good; seen rare smiles and captured moments of happiness every single day of her life.
"For every bit of ugliness in this world there is some good too," Daisy said quietly, wishing she could somehow make him understand, allow him to see the world the way that she did. "I'm not naive, Scar...I just...I guess I just see the world a little bit differently. I'm careful, Scar, really I am. But I'm not going to stop smiling simply because it can be a little scary out there sometimes."

"Aw, lass, it would be a sad day without your smiles." He grinned a bit trying to lighten the mood once more, he honestly didn't want to scare Daisy away from him though he thought it would be harder than a comment or two. He didn't make comment on her view of the world, but instead glanced around a bit. "I really should get going, I have a few things to do before I go home."
