She watched him for a minute and snorted a little folding her arms, "I've been with Sneaks since I was sixteen and it was a fluke and he's my soul mate why do you look like I kicked you in the balls and called you a sissy?"

He looked up at her with wide eyes. "It's just, well, your like, what- 17? I'm 22, still looking for a soul mate, and your already engaged." Raising an eyebrow at her, waiting to be made fun of, he just sat there.

She tilted her head a bit to the side as she listened and then she chuckled and shook her head, "Come on, mate-- I didn't mean anything by it." She waved her hand and took another drink from her water glass, setting it down and giving it a spin.
"So what?" she said with a shrug. "Think about it, just because you haven't found this broad doesn't mean your not going too? I was in the right place at the right time and his best friend was like a brother to me... that's it.." Ahh, she missed Rich boy Ace Cardoni and hadn't wanted to admit it to anyone.

"That's good, but my problem, is that no one is my friend, and that makes it even harder to find a girl. Never mind about me anymore, do you still want to talk about your future husband? Or..are you uncomfortable?" Waiting for her explanation or answer, he sipped his water and took a quick glance at the restaurant.

She snorted and then laughed out right, "Kid, you have got to stop saying that-- I'm not the person you want to be friends with though, you look like Trigger but he wasn't so melancholy.." It was the only reason she was talking to him at all-- he looked like Trigger. And he was feeding her, she never turned down a free meal.
"Look, your twenty two years old, you've got a job-- go out and grab the first tart you see and bingo, bango your married.."

Mark was bewildered at what she said. He wasn't just going to grab a girl of the street and marry her. He wanted to get into a good conversation with a nice girl, like he was with Lucky. Then, if he wanted to spend more time with her, he would. Maybe, in a few months, or earlier, then he would think about marraige. But definatly not overnight.
"Alright, that's not what I was thinking, but if you would do that, then that is perfectly fine with me." Remembering what she said about not wanting to be friends with her, he frowned. Mark thought she was a nice, beautiful, funny girl. Maybe a little fussy at times, but he didn't know why she would say that. "Oh, and why would no one want to be friends with you?"

"I didn't say no one wants to be I just said you shouldn't want to be, two completely different things.." She snorted a laugh and took another drink from her water glass. Lucky was not the girl to crush on, she was feisty, hard to get along with and incredibly secure in her own relationship with her boyfriend.
"And I never said I would do that, I just said you've got a job and girls would jump at that-- especially the tarts working out by the warf..."

"Ok, and what I am trying to say, is that I'm not that kind of guy. And, what would you do if I say I wanted to be friends? Would that be so bad?" Mark thought that if he became friend with someone who could express their feelings, maybe he could come out to the world and do the same.

She laughed again and folded her arms, digging around for a cigarette before she struck a match on the table. "I takes a lot for me to claim friends," she said as she lit the smoke and drew in the sweet sweet tobacco. "I know about everyone in the city give or take--" Which was mostly true, she knew most of the movers and shakers of her world. "But friends? I'm selective-- got to do more then buy me dinner. I'm not that kind of girl--" she threw his words back at him with a smirk. That was Lucky for ya.

He chuckled slightly at her words - - or more his words. Gulping down the rest of his water, he dug around his pants for a cigarette as well, and lit it. Taking a long drag, he smiled. That felt good.
"Ok, then what kind of people do you select?" Smiling, he drew back his hand and ran it through his hair, letting a blond curl flop in his face, in front of his eyes.

((New Day))
This was Lucky's day to herself. Her dark eyes scanned the selection at the counter as she bounced. She was still wearing her dress from work and she needed to probably get back at some point. The Great Lucky Savario, was far to busy with a real life to be off selling papers. Oh Spot was back and she was going to probably have it out with him over all that had happened. Zeke was off in Manhattan getting the tar kicked out of him then sleeping with some Laundress as far as she knew.
Typical. That was how it worked, but she had to grin when she thought about River. He crossed her mind more than she'd let on recently. Oh sure, she was still tough, mess-with-me-and-i'll-destroy-you-Savario. But she was crushing and worse, falling hard in love with one of her best friends. It was strange, she was not the person Sneaks had loved... she wanted to be the person that River loved and she'd be damned if she'd be different. No more, she'd agreed with herself.
She was tired of trying not to change, of being what Sneaks had loved. It was to hard, she was a battle ax to be sure but she had her spots where she just wanted to lay down and curl up with someone. That had always been her favorite things, she didn't get that often enough. Harder with River being the second in command in the Bronx.

Avalanche got off work, and was a bit of a mess, but he didn't mind. He was just glad the weather was warming up! That in itself was a bonus. However, it getting so warm outside, he really needed a drink, and a break. He stopped into Lanni's to get just that. "Hey there," he said waving to the waitress. "Can I get a lemonade, beautiful?" The girl smiled and dashed off to get him a lemonade. He glanced around to see if he knew anyone before he spotted a familiar face.
Avalanche came up behind Lucky. He tried to say hello, but she seemed to be fairly distracted. He whistled before chanting "Luuuuckyyyy?" he chuckled. "You are getting sleepy, very sleepy," before he smiled and sat down across from her. Did he need an invitation? Not really. It was Avalanche. Not only did he know everyone and everyone knows him, but this was Lucky. He knew Lucky, and Lucky knew him. They... were friends.
