The Queen's Lodging House has a nice, medium-sized porch out front, that is a great place to gather or simply to think. There are no chairs on it, but the front stoop makes for a good place to sit.

Sooth paced back and forth in front of the front stoop, his hands tucked deep into his pockets. He had a lot on his mind right now but he needed to get himself in check so that no one would think something was going on with him. Taking a few deep breaths he sat down on the stoop, his face resuming it's usual lazy smile as he gazed out at the road. It was a nice day and that was a rare thing this season, but he was used to New York weather so he knew to enjoy it while he could. Sooth couldn't help but let his mind wander to Smarty. He wondered what she was doing and where she was.

((Hope it's okay, if I join in! If not, just let me know. )) Prince wandered down the street coming up on her lodging house, when she spotted Queens very own Motor mouth hanging around outside the front door. He seemed as though he was in one heck of a good mood... except not. He looked as though no one were home. Prince wondered if she walked right up to him and took the money from his pocket if he'd notice. Of course she'd return it, but she couldn't help the thought of messing with her kids' head's. Besides, if nothing else, if would teach the boy a lesson to pay attention. Prince nonchalantly headed towards him and as he was turned the other way simply walked up behind him and reached for his pocket. 'Mornin' Sooth!" she said as she took the money, in hopes of being a distraction for herself. "And isn't it a lovely mornin? Ain't seen a day this pretty in New York in a good long time. She quickly then put her own hands in her pockets casually as though nothing was wrong, and nothing was in her hands. Sooth was a good guy, and she was pretty sure he would know it was all fun and games, that was if he had noticed. And if not... she'd take him. But she had confidence in herself and her decision. She was curious as to what he would do now.

(How could you even think you weren't welcome?! haha *huggles*)
As Prince pulled her hand from her pocket Sooth reached out and wrapped her forearm within his hand. "I think you got something of mind, boyo.." His eyes twinkled and his hand wasn't wrapped tightly in the slightest. He knew his leader was joking and wouldn't still from her own.
"Haven't seen you around much, Prince? You hear that Conlon's back in Brooklyn?" Sooth stared up at his leader with falsely cheerful eyes and ran a hand through his hair.

"Ooooh dang, and I thought I'd be good enough to get it by you. guess there's no pullin' the wool over your eyes eh?" she chuckled and took her arm from his hand, and then offered the money back to him. "I'm glad of that though," she said nodding. She then put her empty hand back into her pocket, matching the other one.
"Why, yes, I did and though I ain't got much room ta talk, if ya ask me it's high time. Yeah, I know I ain't exactly been the most obvious person around here lately, but I've been spendin' a few weeks down in Brooklyn m'self. Been spending time with Avalanche down there. Kinda got... uh... sick this winter." In her head maybe. The girl went a little nuts. "So I went down there, and he kinda... fixed it." Or something. "Anyway, that's all in the past now, and you all are gonna hafta try pretty hard ta get me outta here for good," she added with a wink.
"And how about yaself? I know I ain't seen ya much, and might be a little outta the loop in things... but if ya ask me somethin' ain't running right in that brain a yours. Somethin' on your mind... or would you just as soon I stop askin' questions?" Of course, she was one to help her newsies out, but boy if they wanted you outta their business, she'd avoid that land mine before she came within miles of it. Check for clear ground for miles, and tread lightly with newsies, that was her philosophy.

Sooth laughed, "Trust me, you're good enough. I've just been on the streets as long as you. I'm sure you can tell the slightest shift in your clothes as well as I can." Living on the streets taught them that much. You couldn't afford to lose what you earned so you had to learn how to protect and to know when someone was trying to pick your pocket. Sooth smiled, "I'm not young lamb, Prince. I've lived on these streets long enough." His voice was more cheerful than his words and it made them come off lightly especially when you saw the grin on his face.
Sooth merely nodded to his leaders words, keeping the same easy grin on his face and the same brightness in his eyes. He was always the one people trusted with things and he was fine by that. Calico was always quieter and hung back, that was his way of learning things but Sooth stepped right into the mix, speaking up when necessary and keeping quiet when he ought to. "Good to see you're feeling all better."
"Ah, I been here and there pretty much trying to survive." He'd also been having his fun, still chasing after Smarty. The girl was a whirlwind and even harder to catch but he knew she'd be worth it. "I don't mind the questions, but there's nothing much on my mind. Unless you can tell me more about Smarty then I know already."

Prince nodded. Oh, she knew he'd lived on the streets just as long as her. It didn't surprise her much that he had caught her in the first place. She was glad of it after all. She smiled at him when he said he was glad she was okay. She sat down on the stoop and stretched her legs out in front of her. Pulling a pack of cigarettes out of her pocket she flipped one out of the pack and then offered them to Sooth. "Want one?" she asked as her other hand dug for that book of matches.
"Smarty?" she said as she thought about it. "Hmmm... Smarty? The brooklyn girl?" she asked She thought about it. "Ya know, I was even in Brooklyn, I ain't seen her in a while," she said mostly thinking out loud. she looked at him slyly. "Why?" she asked like a little kid would ask an older one when the older one knew something good.

Sooth shook his head at Prince's offer and locked his hands together before cracking his knuckles. At Prince's question Sooth shrugged his shoulders, "She's been hanging around lately. Just wondering..."
He wasn't going to divulge his crush or his thoughts on her ass to his leader. They had never really spent much time together and Calico was usually the only one who could put up with his comments. Not that he cared if he offended someone he just wasn't in his usual mood today.

Prince nodded and put the cigarettes back into her pocket. She looked at the boy with an eyebrow cocked. "Uh-huh," she said chuckling a little. She wasn't going to push and pry though she was pretty sure he was a little more than just wondering... but as previously stated, not her place, if he didn't wanna tell, she wasn't gonna ask.
"Sure sure, whatever you say," she said nodding. "You... gonna stand around, go look for her or ya wanna have a seat?" she asked scooting over a little so that if he wanted he could join her on the stoop. She rested her elbows on the stair behind her and looked up at the sky blowing smoke into the wind.

[New Day]
Sofia had been wandering the streets for what felt like hours. She knew New York pretty well but didn't exactly recognize the area she was in. Exhausted, she sat against a building with her eyes closed, she sat there wondering if this whole leaving her home thing was just some stupid idea. What did she think was going to happen once this Brooklyn newsie 'rescued' her? He'd love her? Take care of her? She was stupid to think the only person who could protect her was some boy. She could return home still, her mother probably hadn't woken up.
She stood up, home would be the best place to go--at least she would have a roof over her head. As she looked up and started really paying attention to her surroundings she saw a sign that said, "Queens Lodging House". It was then that she started having second thoughts about heading home.

Anya walked out of the lodging house with a cigarette between her fingers and rolled it a couple of times to keep her fingers busy. She was half way down the steps when she ran into the back of someone and steadied herself
" Sorry " She walked around the girl and set down on the bottom step and grabbed the matches out of her pocket and lit the cigarette. She took a few hits before she looked behind her and gulped " you lost? "
She usually didn't talk to people straight out but this girl looked like she couldn't hurt a fly. She leaned back against the step watching her
" Hey you okay? " The girl looked like she was about to cry and had no clue where she was. Anya had been there she knew how it felt.

Sofia jumped, she didn't even see this girl approach. She stood there for a second debating on whether or not to tell this complete stranger the truth.
"Um....," she said taking a step back actually contemplating leaving. "I....." she bit her lip and shrugged figuring she had nothing else to lose.
"Not really. I'm not really sure what to do at the moment."
Deep down she hoped this stranger could help her, or at least talk some sense into her--she needed someone to listen to her for once.

Anya took a hit off the cigarette watching the girl and nodded " If it makes you feel better I don't know what I'm doing either " She got up off the steps and shrugged " you got a place to live? " She wasnt sure what to tell the girl. She had gotten lucky by running into Prince.
She threw the cigarette out and looked down the street and then back at the girl " if you need a place to stay you can probably stay here. The leader is real nice ". She didn't feel like she could just invite the girl to live there but she could introduce her to the right person. She pulled her coat tighter around her as it started to snow and smirked
" You just run away from home or something? " Most of the kids here were either runaways or immigrants or something. The girl would fight right in

She was shocked by this strangers friendliness and willing to help her out. Swallowing hard she said, 'Ya I'm lookin for a place to live. I left home because it was a bad situation....."She wondered if she should continue. She decided a stranger didn't need to hear the dark stuff quite yet and tried to keep it vague, "I was supposed to head to Brooklyn but my friend never showed."
She looked down at her feet trying to stall, wondering if she should trust this person. "When he didn't show," she continued, "I just ran for it, I decided I couldn't go back home after all the stuff that has been going on. I got kinda lost and ended up here. You say I could probably stay here? Where is this person? O, and I'm Sofia," She said extending her hand.

Anya took her hand and shook it "Anya, I think we were suppose to spit in our hands before we did that " she smiled at her joke and nodded when the girl said she came from a bad place and shrugged " We all go our secrets. You anit gotta tell me yours "
She smirked when the girl said that a guy was suppose to meet her and laughed " I haven't met a guy I could trust here yet and Ive been here for 6 months. "
She noticed the girl didn't have an accent and raised an eyebrow " so where are you from? " She wasn't sure if they were going to have anything in common but so far she liked her. She didn't trust people easily but Sofia seemed like a person she could trust
