"Dat's cause ever'ybody in all a dose pretty green places always wanna come heah an' den deres no moah room heah foah grass an' space, just people an' homes an' stores" Gwennie explained her voice slowly dropping off, she looked away for a moment before tuning to Prince and asking interestedly "so.. how'd you get heah?, ta da city I mean. Prince shoulda known better. She had asked too many questions, though she'd hoped they were open ended enough. Someone people liked to talk about their pasts though... but Prince wasn't one of them. She decided to keep her answers short, to the point, and avoid all deapth. "Yeah, I was born heah," she said looking down at the girl. "Nevah lived anywhere but New York city, and honestly I kinda like it heah. might like somewhere else bettah, but I'd ratheh not find out any time soon," she added.
Then her goal was to take the focus off of her and her past, and move it back to Gwennie. "How's about you kid? Evah been outta the city?"

"Nope" replied Gwennie, satisfied with Prince's answers " When my mama an' papa were alive we nevah had da time 'cause dey was always woikin' an' now I don' got da means so I haven't." she explained wistfully "Hones'ly, I probably nevah will especially wit da prices goin' up so much an' a futah in da factories ahead a' me"

She found it oddly pessamistic for such a young child. But maybe Gwennie really had thought that far ahead. "I wouldn't go that far," she said with a small smile. "It could happen someday. I mean, you could grow up ta be rich! Weirder things have happened ya know," she said with an encouraging smile to the young girl. "Bet you'll grow up ta be rich and famous."

" Dat'd be great but I don' mind if I don't. No mattah what happens, I'm gonna have a good life an' I'm gonna be happy an' woik hard an' make my mama an' papa proud." answered Gwennie with a smile on her face. " 'Cause ya don' hafta be rich or go places ta be happy. it's all about how ya see t'ings, dat's what Rhoda says at least."

To be so young and have such an outlook on life? It was a wonder to Prince. She was confident the girl could make it on the streets, some how or other anyway. Prince looked out at the water and saw it was getting darker. "Maybe it's about time you and I head home," she suggested. "It's gettin' kinda late, and I dun want you out walkin' after dark," truth be told Prince didnt' want herself to be out walkin' after dark either.

"I guess so" said Gwennie, mildly disappointed "Marvin's gettin' sleepy anyway so I should probably get him back ta da lodgin' house, so he can go ta bed." she finished walking back towards the street "Bye! see ya latah, Prince" she called back as she walked away.

Prince watched Gwennie go and smiled a little. She would have walked the girl home... she kinda liked the kid. She had a soft spot for kids. She sighed a little and looked back out at the water. Had she thought this would all be much easier than it was? Why had she decided to do this? Suddenly she'd never been so lonely. She turned away from the ocean quickly and hurried back towards her lodging house, nearly running all the way.

(( New Day ))
As Moonlight was walking around the shore of the beach, she had taken off her boots and socks and stepped into the water at her ankles. Moon was thinking about the jack-up of the papers, so she usually came to the beach to relax a little bit. The star's were coming out and she could see the shining of the moon off of the water. Wow, that's beautiful, she thought as she lost her gaze to the water.
When Moonlight thought she had relaxed a little bit, she walked out of the water and far enough on the sand so she wouldn't get wet. She sat down on the sand and lifted her knees up to her chest and looked at the moon. The wind breezed by and she closed her eyes as her wavy blond hair blew in the wind.

Scar walked down the beach, lost in thought. He knew he was crossing into territory that he would never come back from. Paul Kelly wanted to work with him and that meant you worked with him till you went to jail or died. And if you went to jail you had better keep your mouth shut. This was the last point of return but Scar was torn as to why he felt this way he had worked for this for awhile. He wanted to make the money he knew he could with them. Sure it meant ripping people off but what did that matter in the end?
He was all about climbing up the latter of life, which meant he needed to earn money. A lot of money and Kelly was the way to do that. He knew his decision was already made but he always came here when he had a lot on his mind. If he needed to make a big decision he knew this was the best place to do it, it just made him lose himself in his mind. That might not make sense to some but then Scars mind had been beginning to jump to a different level than most. He thought about things in a way most people would call crazy, but he thought of as ingenius.
When he finally came into the same vicinty as Moonlight, he was so lost in his thoughts he could have very well have stepped on her and never even noticed. As it was, the only reason he did notice is because he tripped over her leg, or nearly did as he caught himself and gave her a cool daze. "Do you always sit here in the dark?"

When the man who looked a little bit older then her almost tripped over her leg, she pulled it back and said, "Oh, I'm sorry. " When he asked about her sitting in the dark she chuckled a little bit. "No, I usually just come to the beach to think about things and relax. It helps me clear my head of my troubles."
She looked up to him and noticed he was taller than him, and had very stong muscles, so she assumed he was a dock worker. "What 'bout you? Do ya come heah a lot?" She replied then looked back at the moonlight shining of off the water and took a breath.

"Enough. I've never seen you along this shoreline before. 'Suppose we must just miss each other if we both enjoy it at night." Scar had gotten his first good look at the girl after the words had slipped from his lips. He had seen that she was a striking girl, most likely younger than him,but attractive non the less. "And what brings you here tonight if you don't mind me askin'?"
Scar was looking at the girl and seeing her as an oppurtinity. She seemed young and naive considering she was out here this late by herself. Anything could happen to a girl out here, he knew for a fact that if he really wanted to he could overpower her but he didn't want that. He enjoyed seducing people into thinking he was something he wasn't and then he enjoyed watching their reactions as they realized how wrong they'd been.

"Yeah, we must've missed eachother." She looked back at him and smiled, she noticed he was staring at her and she blushed. Moon thought she was lucky enough for it to be dark out, but the light could be shining on her face, so she doesn't know if he saw her blush.
"Nah, it's aight. I'm just aggravated 'bout the jack-up of the pape prices. We don't got nothin' ta eat, and we can't pay our rent foah da lodging house to stay ta sleep." She looked at his eyes with sad eyes, thinking about how her and her sister are going to sleep. "What 'bout you?" Moon asked quietly.

Scar raised an eyebrown at some of her language, not hearing many people use the word aight. Might just be certian people that did but it didn't really matter. He nodded his end when she finished. "Have you thought about trying to get a different job? It might be the best option."
He knew that things would be hard for the newsies if they hadn't found a different job right away but he always figured it didn't hurt to look. There were so many places all over the city that he figured there had to be something the girl could do. Scar took a seat, not bothering to ask because it wasn't his way. "I'm sure a girl like you could find a job just about anywhere."

"Yeah, it is the best option, but I don't know 'bout my sistah wantin' ta find anotha job, and I will not work at a factory. " As he took a seat she smiled at him, thinking about her sister yelling at her for taking advice from someone from Brooklyn, but she didn't care. He was nice, and was very attractive.
Moon blushed. "Thanks, but, I don't know what else there is dat my sistah will approve of besides da factory work."
