Finn wondered downstairs and glanced around as he ran a hand through his hair. It had been a particularly rough night and now he wanted a drink and possibly a card game. He spotted his brother and made his way over to the table, grabbing a glass of whiskey on his way. A smirk graced his face as he took a seat next to Luke, "Where have you been?"
He hadn't seen Luke in a few days, but that as much his fault as Luke's for being so occupied with his own endeavors. But he'd just wrapped up some business with some rich fellow in Manhattan and he now had enough capital to continue. Finn forced himself to stop thinking about business as he eyed his brother and lifted his glass to his mouth to swallow down some of the whiskey. "Talked to Killian earlier, he said he wanted me to procure some papers for him."

"Doing what I do best, brother," Luke said with a smile, turning and lifting his glass towards Finn in a toast. He was feeling smug, having lured some information from a street kid he'd cornered on a bridge in the Bronx earlier, he always did love a good game and this one had gone splendidly. It had been days since he'd seen Finn, nature of their business and how they chose to work, but they always made it a point whether it was consciously or not to check in on occasion.
"Procuring papers are we?" Luke arched an eyebrow, remember his recent conversation with Killian and Lia at the pub in Brooklyn. "They showed you the article then," Luke mulled the idea over in his mind, had been doing so since his friends brought it up and the more the thought about it, the more advantages he could see. "What do you think of it? Think we can find someone to lean on?" Luke did enjoy a good lean, especially when he got to work it with his brother, they made an effective team and had a method that was both effective and clean.

Finn raised his own glass to toast as he chuckled under his breath at his brother's words. "He showed me the article," Finn replied as he tossed back the rest of the whiskey before motioning to one of the barmaids to bring him another. He mulled over Luke's questions for a moment before responding. He agreed with Killian and Lia that this could be essential to them getting the right people on their payroll. Once they found the dirty cops it would only be a matter of time before they had them working for Five Points.
"I think it'll be beneficial if we put them on the payroll," Finn said quietly. It would be very handy to have dirty cops working for them. It would make the running of things much more successful. "I think the chief will be more then happy to help us out once we get Nick inside the prison." He patted his jacket where the needed papers were, "Easy enough to get the proper papers for him."

Luke smoked thoughtfully on his cigar for a moment, the Five Points may be half mad and perhaps deadlier than most even realized, but they didn't lack for brains and the plan Killian and Lia had come up with had certain merits. Having some dirty cops in their back pocket would be useful and informative and also create leverage where they needed it most. "Nick does have a way about him, doesn't he?" Luke mused, shaking his head with a smile as he thought about his friend. "He'll get the chief seeing things our way...one way or another."
It was how things worked for the gang, everyone had their role, knew their place and did what they were supposed too. It's what made them successful and Luke prided himself on his ability to extract information from the most wily of sources: people. "Bumped into a kid down in the Bronx today," Luke said, because he was in the habit of sharing information with his brother, plus discussion was good in knowing what to present to Tully. "She was full of information on Brooklyn, seemed to have tangled with a few of the population - looking for a friendly ear."

"Aye, that he will..." Finn pulled a cigarette out and lit it before taking a deep drag. Nick certainly did have a way of making people see things from his point and bringing them on board with Five Points. Once they got the names of the officers it would be only a matter of time until they could move on with their plans.
Finn leaned forward when Luke told him about the kid he'd bumped into. "What'd the lass tell you?" Finn knew Luke could gather information with the best of them. They were both charmers and could move between different crowds of people fairly easily. It made them excellent at their job and also made it fairly easy for them to make all sorts of connections that would benefit them. Finn had been mingling with the upper crust of Manhattan since they came to the city, but the act was tiring. If Derek were better with others he would have brought him along, but the man hated society and everything it stood for. "Always nice when you run into females bursting with information who fall for a quick smile and a nice word or two."

"Girl had a nasty shiner on her eye, looked like she'd been through the ringer and back," Luke motioned to his face with a hand, tapping ashes from his cigar and letting a slow smile crawl across his face. "Said she tangled with some Brooklyn girls, some of Conlon's best from what I could gather. She handed off names without a thought: Lucky, Fighter, Birdie, Smalls. Should be easy enough to find out more with that kind of lead." A few well placed questions when it mattered and Luke was certain they'd have more than enough information on most of Brooklyn's best - hardly a concern, but best to go into any shake up prepared.
"Couldn't have been more than thirteen and looked like a stiff wind would knock her right over," Luke shook his head again as he recalled Jewel's nearly pathetic simpering in hopes of garnering further attention from him. "Used to live in Brooklyn but moved to the Bronx a bit ago, taken due to the kindness of Lexi. She's running things there with the aid of a man named Dodger." They were all street kids really, that's all they amounted to when one really looked at it, but they packed more punch than one might expect, nearly brought the city to it's knees with a strike a while back. "Ring any bells?"

A small snicker escaped Finn as he talked about all of the information he'd acquired from this girl. He couldn't help but wonder how she'd feel if she knew what this information was going to contribute too. He didn't feel bad about using people like that, it was his way. Taking a drag of his cigarette, he listened intently to all of the information Luke relayed to him. He was unfamiliar with most of the names, but there was one that stuck out. "Oy... isn't Aidan's little Brooklyn chit's nickname Fighter?"
Finn wasn't sure if Luke would even have that information, but Finn was almost positive it was the girl who'd been here not too long ago with some boy. He was pretty close with Scar, had been since they'd met and he remembered all too well his rants about the little chit. Finn could never understand what about her had attracted Scars attention, but he wasn't one to question. "They have a girl running a house?" Finn laughed before raising his newly delivered glass to his lips. "Things certainly have changed. I remember..." He trailed off as he thought about them. "You did good, little brother." Finn said, he knew his brother was excellent at information gathering and all of this was very pertinent information.

"Ach I think you're right," Luke said after a moment, going quickly through his memory bank to figure if the name sounded as familiar to him as it had to Finn. He vaguely remembered something about the girl, though Aidan wasn't real forthcoming about the whole thing and Luke didn't feel the need to pry from his friends. "Apparently she's made a name for herself in Brooklyn, little chit said Fighter was one of the girls who bested her. Not surprising, Aidan wouldn't go for anything less."
"To hear the lass tell it, they do," Luke shook his head, he'd been barely able to understand it himself when Jewel had prattled on about such things. "Damn near had stars in her eyes talking about the girl, seemed she has a soft heart. Can't say much for the Dodger lad though, not sure how long his reach is, might be worth investigating further." New York had been a different sort of place when last they had been here and there was quite a bit that had changed, but Luke was grateful that there was yet still more that stayed the same.
He grinned at Finn when his brother complimented his finds for the day, Luke knew he'd done well, but the words from his brother meant something that they would not from another. Such it was with family. "I thank you brother," Luke tossed a cavalier smile to join the lightness in his tone as he took another sip from his drink. "What's our next move?"

Finn took another drag of his cigarette as he listened to Luke's explanation that she had been one of the ones to best the girl. He was as surprised as Luke that Aidan had chosen a girl like that. He'd always been one to go for the hellcats. Finn preferred them to be much more docile, at least in public. Unlike, his friend he didn't enjoy rowing in public with his current flame. In fact, that was the quickest way to ensure he lost complete interest in them.
Finn laughed, "Can't believe she willingly told you all that." Then again Luke could get nearly any information from women, they fell for his smile. Finn passed it off as a Gallagher trait that they'd both perfected. "I'll take a look around the Bronx in the morning, see what I can find."
"We're gonna have to talk to Tully and I have to find Killian to give him these papers." He figured Killian was in his room and would be down soon enough. "From there we wait for the names of the dirty cops and do a bit of digging about the other boroughs. I wouldn't mind having more information about the Brooklyn kids. We need to know more about the men, seems like the chit only had information on the females."

"She was practically begging for a sympathetic ear," Luke said with a shrug and another smile, Jewel had been one of his easier marks - a few kind words, the right amount of sparkling eyes and winning smiles and she'd spilled information without even realizing she was doing it. "You know how the simpering messes get, just wanting a little attention and someone to listen to their troubles." And they would be so busy baring their souls they rarely noticed when Luke was directing conversation to serve his own purposes.
"She wouldn't say much on Conlon," Luke said, remembering the way Jewel practically sidestepped and evaded any question regarding the Brooklyn leader. "Seemed almost scared of the lot of them and there was no need to push. With the names we've got now we should be able to ferret out what we need."

Finn nodded and chuckled at his brothers comments about the girl. Yes, he was very well aware of how simpering messes could get. He would glad it hadn't been him that had had to deal with it. He despised girls like that almost as much as he despised the smart asses. "We do have more then enough information," Finn said with a small smirk. Well, they had a good start and once they got their feelers out this could easily garner them even more information. He leaned back in his chair as he finished his drink.
