Her smirk widened into a full blown grin and she ducked her head when he began to ruffle her hair. "What is it with you men and messing up my curls? You know how long it takes to tame them?" It was one of her least favorite things to do but she didn't want to walk around with her frizzy and bushy. She brushed her curls back from her face after patting them down and walked forward to wrap her arms around Zeke and return the hug. A small laugh fell from her lips as she pulled away to glance up at him before turning to look at the fighters. "Kinda figured that out for myself."
She smirked and took a drag from her cigarette, "Where the hell have you been hiding since you got back to Brooklyn?" She continued to grin as she asked, trying to hide the fact that she'd been hard to find as well lately. If she wasn't working, with Davey, or getting high she was usually crawling into her bed well after everyone else was asleep but she'd noticed he'd hadn't been around the lodging house either. "Shack up with a new dame?"

He could only smirk at her remark, a part of him would always been darker than he'd been before but the smirk on her face had him grinning just a bit. A little of the old man still in him even though he'd changed. "It's because it's so temptin' ta muss 'em up.." Worse it had always been tempting to do other things to those curls but he'd gotten over that a long time ago.
"Me?" He asked her question giving the man pause even as he shrugged his large frame and let out a grunt. "I'm always shackin' up wit a new dame, what's different about now than any other ol' time eh?" Really he'd been with so many women over the years now it was his dark and broody self they fell for just as much as the playful rogue. "Why? Missin me, Mallory?" He'd admit he missed her too, despite their flirtations and the definite attraction between them there had always been a serious sense of respect all the same. They were friends, he would cover her back through anything.

Fighter smirked and took a drag of her cigarette, "Try to resist that urge." She laughed and brushed her hair back before leaning back against the wall. She watched him as he replied to her question and couldn't help but smirk even wider. "Guess it isn't real different," She replied with a shrug of her shoulder.
She was used to not only Zeke but most of the Brooklyn male newsies who weren't attached hooking up with different women. Zeke had always been one of the most prominent when it came to stuff like that. Fighter glanced up at Zeke when he asked her if she missed him, "Sure...since your in New York maybe you should come by the lodging house more often." She smiled and held out the cigarette to him, "Course I don't spend a lot of my time there anymore so..." she trailed off and glanced back at the boxing ring.

"Can't complain about me not bein ' around if you aren't either, yeah?" he raised a brow at her, taking the smoke she offered. He'd gotten a earful from Birdie, the kind that had him picking up Spot's little bird and dropping her in a crate. He'd spotted her wrapped up by Hawkeye and that had only had him shaking his head. Everyone had gone mental--it was clear as day.
"Where you been then, Mallory? Come out to find me it's got to be somethin'.." He had a feeling she was looking for him by the way she'd bobbed through the crowd and he really didn't mind. He wouldn't say it out loud but he'd missed her too. The lot of them in Brooklyn honestly. But he'd changed enough he had a hard time going back.

Fighter laughed, "I guess I can't." She knew she'd been absent from the lodging house more then she'd been there. She supposed she was starting to distance herself from the others so when she finally got up the nerve to talk to Shannon about possibly getting an apartment together she wouldn't feel as lost. That, of course, wasn't going to be for awhile still though. She was making decent money but she'd been spending it on things that tended to get a bit pricey.
Fighter absently reached up and tucked a wayward curl back behind her ear before playing with the end of it. She was a bit nervous about what she'd wanted to tell Zeke, but knew she couldn't put it off. He wasn't around enough that she could simply avoid the conversation now and hope to bring it up at another point. "Wanted to see you..and talk to you about some things." She trailed off, her eyes darting out over the crowd before she forced herself to look back at him. "Thought you'd like to know I've been seeing someone," Fighter continued as a smile graced her lips when she thought of Dave. "Didn't want you to hear it from someone else and decide to pummel him or anything." She forced herself to grin nonchalantly and punch him lightly in the arm before snagging her cigarette back from him and taking a deep drag.
