Racetrack hated eating lunch alone. It made him feel like an outcast, sitting at a table my himself, bent over his food and not saying a thing. But sometimes he had to do what he had to do...he was hungry, and on his walk to Tibby's (he'd taken the long way on purpose) he hadn't run into anyone he was friends with, so he was forced to take a seat at one of the smaller tables and be content with it. He didn't know how long it would be until one of the waiters noticed him there...the place was packed today, and he knew the servers would cater to the more wealthy clients before they worried about the newsboy sitting by himself.
That was another thing about eating alone...you didn't get noticed too quickly. So he leaned his chin on his hand and drummed his fingers on the table, waiting impatiently. Hopefully someone would come around soon enough...

Magenta walked into Tibby's. It was packed, and she couldn't find a seat. Finally, she spotted one, and there was a boy sitting there, and it was the only seat left. Walking up to him she said quietly, but loud enough for him to hear, "Uh, could I sit here? There's no where else to sit." Gazing into his deep chocolate brown eyes, she smiled softly to him.

New Day
Smiley pulled Mark into Tibby's. She spotted her favorite table and sat down, but first pulled Mark's chair out for him with a huff. She smiled at him and picked up the menu. She wasn't the best at reading since she had never really been given an education.

Sitting down across from her at the table, he picked up the menu as well and peered over it a couple of times at her. "So, I'm going to get a coffee and a roast beef sandwich. What about you?"

Mark thought about this for a moment. He didn't want his boss getting mad at him, and he didn't have to work on Saturday's. Smiling, he said, "How about Saturday instead? We can be together all day instead of for only a few hours."

Laughing, he nodded his head. "Yup. We will Saturday. After we eat, I gotta go. But then I won't be able to see you tomorrow, " His smile faded for a few seconds, but then he continued with a smile plastered on his face. "Then Saturday...we can spend all day together. AND you can go see the horses."

"Yay!!! I'm so excited Mark!!!!!" She exclaimed grinning a huge grin. She took a sip of her milk getting a mil mustache, she giggled and wiped it away. She took the last bite of her pie and then sighed contentedly, holding her little belly.
"Boy, am I full!" She said and giggled.

Mark smiled. Finishing his meal, he drank the rest of his milk as well. "Well, we can sit here and talk."

>>>New Day>>>
Manhattan laid her cheek aganst the warm table top. She just didnt have the energy to move. Due to selling all morning in what felt like in the freezing cold and being away from both jobs for a month, she just wasnt at the top of her game.
Manhattan thanked God it was a lull in the afternoon rush when she came in to start her shift. She didnt have any customer to help and honestly she didnt even know if she could raise her arm even in greeting. Wrapping her arms around herself Manhattan tried to get warm "God its cold in here." she murmured. Groaning, she closed her eyes and pretended that the world didnt exsist at the moment.
The drone of the fans on high blew throughout the Cafe cooling off what customers there were.
The cook in the back fanned himself and turned the fan on high. It had to be swelting outside since it was a sauna in back, sweat was literally pooring off him. Opening the freezer he stuck his head in and tried to cool off.

The door slowly creaked open as Sammie peeked in, unsure if the empty establishment was open. She hadn't been to Tibby's before, but had heard good things from some local Manhattaners. Seeing a couple people she moved the rest of the way in, moving to sit down at a small table but finding a girl in a waitress uniform collapsed on it. She bit her lip, slightly concerned as she reached out a hand to the girls back. "You alright dear?"

Manhattan slowly lifted her head and blinked trying to focus her eyes. Pulling herself out of the chair.
"Let me get youse a menu and some watah" she murmured her eyes glazed over and her body shivering. Balancing for a second on her feet she steadied herself with tables and chairs as she walked towards the counter. Manhattan wavered when the tables and chairs stopped and she had to walk on her own the rest of the way to the counter. Taking a deep breath she tried to shake off the light headedness creeping up on her and walked the rest of the way to the counter.
Pouring a glass of water and grabbing a menu Manhattan started the journey back. Half way across, the room began to sway and darkness crept into her vision. "Damn, not again." She muttered as the glass slipped from her hands, her legs collapsed underneath her and she grabbed for the table. Missing she dropped into unconsciousness.

Sammie frowned as the girl got up and shakily made her way to the counter. "Are you well miss?" As she stumbled back toward her Sammie had to dive forward to catch the girl before she hit the ground. And even then, her catching her was no more than falling to the ground with her and easing the impact. The glass shattered as it it the floor and with a frown she noticed most of the liquid managed to end up on her dress. She looked around helplessly, resting the girl's head in her lap and feeling her forehead-- she was burning up. Noticing the girls hands she grabbed one curiously, rubbing the obvious ink stains on her palms. Most of the newsies Sammie had met lived in the Duane Street Lodging house, but how would she get her there? The few people in the restaurant had left and Sammie found herself wet, alone, and cradling an unconscious girl on her lap. Perhaps someone in the kitchen... "Help! Someone!"
