Jewel sighed as she looked at David. She smiled at him widely, but her smile faded when David stepped back. *Okay, he's nice, but he must be taken.* She thought to herself.
"You are nice...probably the nicest guy I've met so far." She told David.
When David told Jewel and Sweetheart to be careful heading back to the Bronx, Jewel smiled at him and winked at him "We sure will, Davey...we should be leaving soon....also, thanks for letting Sweetheart be up here for a bit. She just loves the view up here...and so do I." Jewel sighed.

Sweetheart sighed in relief that David wasn't angry at her.
She looked up at Jewel as David left. "That was sort of embarrassing." she said, stating the obvious. (Closed. New day welcome)

[[New Day]] [[Reserved for Dave]]
Jack had only just remembered that he was supposed to meet Dave up on the roof. With all the stuff going on with his return, trying to get word out to the new leaders and Spot, cleaning up some messes, getting caught up on news... He was lucky that he'd remembered at all. He was always willing to make time for Dave, especially when it was important... And Jack had the feeling it was. There wasn't much other reason for Dave to want to talk to him in private.
Jack hurried up to the roof, but when he got there, Dave wasn't there yet. Good thing; even though he'd forgotten, it seemed he wasn't late. Might as well kill some time, he thought. He didn't have any cigarettes on him, so he went to the low wall that ran around the roof, and looked down on the street below. He had missed this city more than he ever thought he would...

David had gotten waylaid by an energetic Les who demanded to know where he was going and why - and refused to be put off until David had admitted that he was going to talk to Jack and no Les couldn't come. There were some things that David needed to talk to Jack about, things that Les had no place knowing...not just yet anyway. As he hurried up the steps to the roof, David considered the information he was about to share and the fact that he couldn't quite predict Jack's reaction had him a little bit on edge. Reaching the top of the staircase, David sucked in a breath and pushed through the door, eyes searching the waning light to find Jack lounging against the wall, gazing out over the city.
"Missed it, didn't ya?" David supplied, walking across to stand beside his friend and gaze out over the city with him. It was a special place, this city that they called home - it lived and breathed and survived just as they all did and David knew that their history was woven into it's streets as much as anything else. Especially for someone like Jack. Glancing over at Jack, David considered the fact that other than those first brief moments in the entryway of the lodging house when Jack first arrived back in town, they really hadn't had a solitary moment together. Days had been filled with news and greetings and reunions of friends for Jack, and family duty as well as making sure to find time for Fighter had distracted David. Which really, was the entire point of him asking Jack to meet him in the first place - one of those well placed and desired distractions that had been filling his time. It was high time David filled Jack in on everything - really it was.
"Settling back in? Things about like we told you, ain't they?" David shot his friend a lopsided grin and lifted a hand to remove his cap, scrubbing a few fingers through his hair. The questions gave him time to think, to formulate exactly what to say because honestly, he hadn't really gotten that far in his head. "I've-I've uh...gotta girl..." David said in a rush, shaking his head a little - well that was one way to start it off.

[ new day ]
Shiloh had shoved her brother almost off of a cart on her way to the lodging house. Her dark hair held up in a lose fashion as she ground her teeth. Her dark eyes were just as direct as she turned her head away from what she was looking at on the roof to the swirling streets below. It was dark now, the day long since faded. Lights flickered through windows and she thought the entire city looked best like this, the way it seemed like there were lightening bugs fluttering across the buildings.
Lanterns below were being lit, a small smile crossed her features as she leaned back and watched. These were the nights that she felt the most alive. The nights were everything seemed to work out, even if Colin wasn't around as much as he should be. Wasn't he with Prince now? The idea that he'd fallen for someone else set like a hard rock in her stomach but she'd learned to accept it. Had to accept it. After all it wasn't her business.
Red's business had stopped being hers and that was enough. Sighing she leaned back and flicked her smoke into the dark, watching the embers fall down into the dark alleyway. Was enough to sit here, to find her own way of living.
