She opened her mouth to tell him she'd had chocolate before when she'd managed to steal it off of someone but the sugar wasn't the same as a real meal and she often found herself wanting something more filling. When it came down to food or a treat, real food won out. Tugging her foot onto the desk she watched him as he brought some back, "I've had it before... I wasn't born under a rock it's just expensive.."
For all of her bluster, Miranda had been born to a gambler who tended to take whatever money they had and put it in a card game. She'd lost her mother as a child and her father had decided to dress her up in boys clothes and take his good luck charm with him into the gambling dens. She knew people twice her age because of her father had been a well known and well liked man in the lower circles of society. A gambler, but a jovile one. "Dummy.." she muttered before she picked some off and took a bite, smirking a bit as she thought about it. "It's good though... I used to steal one a year... because if you tried for more, the bulls might get you."

She needed to have a chocolate type dessert. That would change her opinion on what it was good for. It could be just as filling as that Gooseberry crumble that she'd been eating for the past few minutes. "I use it in several different things. It's great for a glaze, adds that last bit of oomph to things." Of course it was expensive but he'd brought over a secret little stash when he'd moved here. It was a godsend to have it.
He watched her eat the chocolate and just smiled to himself. "Have you ever had it in anything?" He didn't think she had, but he couldn't be sure. "I think I'm going to make you some Irish Chocolate Cake and bring it in." Dominick loved to cook, and it was always an added bonus to cook things that someone had never tried. It was a surprise to the taste buds. Besides. He loved to watch her face light up when food appeared in front of her. It matched her.

She was going to tell him no she hadn't, at least not in recent memory. But he was already talking about irish cake and her brow raised. The truth was she DID light up when someone mentioned new food to try. Oh she knew there was a lot of things she probably didn't want to eat and a lot of them were in Chinatown. Wrinkling her nose she watched him grin at her, it was really like having some kind of pet. Or.. well it was like having a really happy irishman around all the time. She wasn't used to that, it hit her, he was just like the girls at the pub all mixed together with different plumbing.
Shaking her head before she replied, Miranda tilted her face towards his. He had strong features, and a grin a mile wide. Was this what Shannon was always chattering about? The way of the irish or something? "Irish Chocolate Cake? Sounds like your trying to make me plump up..." But saints did it sound good.

Dominick loved it. He couldn't even deny it. Lucky was a very gorgeous young woman, and seeing her light up at the mention of something delicious just made that light a little brighter than normal. Besides, he hadn't come here to get on too many people's bad sides. He'd come here to cook, to make a living, and to support himself here and his family back in Ireland. Though they didn't know anything about him. Why would they? All they knew so far was that he was an Irishmen far from home that loved to cook.
He nodded at her mention of the cake and then just sent her that same grin. "From the looks of things lass you've got enough meat on those bones where you needn't anymore plumping." He chuckled though. "But you could stand to enjoy the food from different cultures a little more. 'Sides, I'm not here to make an enemy of you." He was here for an entirely different reason, family. And they were always in those thoughts of his.
