Allena June Hatchet
NAME: Allena June Hatchet
NICKNAME: Ally
AGE: 18
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Fully fledged American sweetheart.HISTORY
Like many of the young people that find themselves mixed up in the harsh life of New York City, Ally comes from a broken family. The Hatchet family came from a long line of plantation owners down in Charleston, South Carolina, and lived rather magnificently in an old southern plantation home for the first fifteen years of Ally's life. Her father was a wealthy merchant and owned many shrimping and fishing boats, exposing Ally to the life on the docks and at sea.
Her mother was full of personality and fire, often leaving the household duties to the maid while she accompanied her husband on business trips at the docks and out to sea. It was evident from an early age that Ally inherited the personality of her mother. She had thought so highly of that erratic, wild woman. Unfortunately, Ally did not receive her mothers dark beauty. Instead of the jet black curls and steel eyes of her mother, she took on the light brown (almost auburn) straight hair of her father, and the sparkling green eyes of her grandfather.
The dark complexions instead went to her year younger brother, James.
The crack in Ally's window pane of life began in her fifteenth summer. Another merchant man known for being racist saw Ally's father with his new business partner, Tom Chane (an African American) and attacked him verbally and physically for it. Ally had been with her father during the time, while her mother and brother were at home. The fight got very violent, people were taking up sides, and soon guns were drawn. Her father fell dead soon after. Tom threw Ally into a storage crate in an attempt to save her from stray bullets, where she cowered in terror, watching the massacre through a crack.
A stray bullet went through the wooden crate, grazing her shoulder and leaving what would be a permanent scar and reminder of that terrible day. Only a few were left standing, and none of them knew she was in the crate. A day passed, and she remained in her fetal position - partly because the lid was too heavy for her small body to lift, and partly from the fear, shock and blood loss.
On the second day, someone finally found her in the crate, and she went home. But when she got to the old plantation manor that she had grown up in, she found nothing but charred remains. She rummaged through the rubble and ashes in a daze trying to find anything salvageable. But little could be saved. Luckily the safe in the cellar was untouched, and she was able to take the family treasures and money. She never found the body of her brother, but her mother and every servant had been strung up in the giant oaks amongst the Spanish moss. Lifeless.
Ally set off to find her grandfather, whom was last seen in Virginia. She went on a goose chase searching for the old man for 3 years - living off of her families money, her only directions being that of word of mouth. Finally, in her eighteenth year, she found herself in NYC, tired of searching and ready to just move on with her life, and maybe settle down. Ally now finds herself wandering the streets, still well off in her money supply, and living in a very small apartment.PERSONALITY
Having all the personality of her mother, Ally is extremely adventurous and full of life. She is not so easily tamed, nor understood. She has never had time for relations, having been on the move for the primary of her life, searching for what seems to remain unfindable. She is a dreamer if anyone's ever met one. While other woman wear the whites, browns, greys and blacks that are in style, Ally prefers brighter colors. It is not unusual to see her in a baby blue dress with a sun-yellow hand knitted shawl, and hand made shoes.
She is frugal with money, understanding the importance of it. But she is also very generous. She has a heart for the unwanted and a spirit of giving and compassion. Ally is one to laugh easily and be slow to sadness or anger. When she was younger she was referred to as "The little Fire Angel" by the dock workers because of her fiery complexion and angelic personality.
Ally is not without faults though. She has recurring nightmares of the massacre on the docks, and sometimes when the weather is bad her scar pains her. She will fight for what she wants, and doesn't easily give in. Sometimes she is too trusting, and too eager to help people and is taken advantage of. Often times Ally must hold herself back from reacting in rage and hysterics when she sees a fight or sees someone being treated unjustly.Who are you?
