NEW DAY ~ OPEN [/i][/center] Wynn was taking a break from the pub this afternoon and decided to spend a bit of her hard earned cash at Sheepshead. She'd grown up around horses so she usually won at least a little something on one of the bets she made there. She leaned back in her seat and pulled out one of her pre-rolled cigarettes and lit it. It wasn't too cold out but still chilly enough for her to be wearing one of her leather coats. She'd collected a few of them when she'd moved back to Texas. They'd been one of the only things she'd packed before returning. Wynn fingered the tickets in her pocket with her free hand as her eyes scanned the crowd. A couple of guys had tried sitting with her but they'd quickly lost interest when they'd seen a flash of the gun resting on her hip. Most women in New York didn't carry guns and if they did it was a small single shot pistol that fit in their purse. Wynn had no qualms about carrying a weapon on her hip, she had been raised in Texas after all and spent the better part of the last six years there.

Mitzi was out practicing selling papers. "The mayor is running for another term!" she called through the audience. She was bored. That headline was no fun. None of these headlines were any fun! Mitzi was bored as she started tapping her feet on the stands, which made a cool echoing sound on the wood. It made her smile and she tapped her feet a bit more. She was getting some strange looks, and usually she wouldn't care that much... but she did want to get rid of these papers because she wanted to have more fun, and work less. So, she offered them a paper, to which they turned away and looked back towards the races.
She raised a paper up. "Mayor wanting to take over New York!" ...it was more exciting than running for another term. "Read all about it! Vote for the mayor!" she said as she waved it around a little and sold a couple of papers. She grinned and started making her way up the stairs. She continued yelling things about the mayor, voting for him, running for another term, taking over, occasionally wanting to expand new york. She hadn't read the article... she knew something about the mayor was in the paper though, so that was good enough, right?
As she walked up the stairs she noticed Wynn, not specificially out of the crowd, but she did seem to stand out a little bit. So she took a few steps her direction and shouted "mayor wanting reelection to take over city for good!" in her direction and smiled. "Paper anyone?!" This was getting more fun now.

Wynn tipped back the cap on her head with the edge of her index finger as a girl approached yelling out the headline. Part of her wanted to roll her eyes at the headline the girl was calling out but she couldn't help but find humor in it. The smirk that crossed her face attested to that fact. She raised two fingers absently at the girl as she dug into her pocket for the change that would cover the paper. When the girl reached her she held out the money in exchange for a paper. "Taking over New York, huh? Can't just be happy with the power he has over it now?"
Wynn opened the paper and absently flipped through it as she waited for a response from the girl. After a few moments she closed it and lifted her beer to her lips before raising her eyes to the girl again. "Take a seat for a bit if you want," Wynn shrugged as she offered up the chair next to her. It wasn't often that she was social with anyone even another woman, but the girl was at least somewhat amusing so Wynn wouldn't mind having a conversation or two with her. Not many people could entertain Wynn to the point where she tolerated their company so it wouldn't be a bad thing to at least try and talk with this one.

As she was walking around, Wynn, complete in cowboy hat, held out money to her. She was caught a little off guard at the question, but she simply gave a big smile and handed her a paper in exchange for the change. "I guess not ma'am," she said with a grin all her own. "You know what they say... the more power one has the more power they want!" she said with a chuckle. She pocketed the change and was preparing to leave when Wynn invited her to sit down. Mitzi blinked for a moment and thought about it. "hmmm... I guess there's no harm in taking a break!"
It didn't occur to Mitzi that perhaps the lie she'd told about the headline would come back to haunt her if she hung around. She plunked herself down beside Wynn with a smile and focused on the rases. "How do you think they name the horses?" she asked. She knew that many race horses had really strange names, and she'd always sort of wondered how they got them. "...I think it would be fun to have a name like the horses... like Valentine," she said chuckling a little. "Oh! Names!" Mitzi was a bit odd and oddly anti-social. "My name is Mitzi, hello," she said offering a welcoming hand and a sweet smile to Wynn.

"Never any real harm in it," Wynn replied with a shrug as she continued to sip on the beer in her hand. She took breaks at work even if they were few and far between. Usually her brother had to force her to take a break, mostly because work occupied her mind and that was something Wynn desperately needed. Unless one of the customers tried groping her, than she was more likely to take a break after breaking the mans nose of course. Sometimes she'd leave that to her brother but for the most part she preferred to do it herself so the others would learn from someone else's mistake instead of making the same one themselves.
Wynn propped her feet up on the empty seat in front of her and shrugged her shoulders absently. "Never really thought about it before, folks back home used to come up with some strange names though. I always preferred the simple ones. Valentine, huh?" Wynn smirked and shook her head slightly before glancing back down at the track. She turned back to Mitzi as she introduced herself. "Wynn," She said before taking the girls hand and giving it a firm shake.

Mitzi grinned. "Wynn sounds like a horses name," she said. Of course she meant no offense, but to her it sounded like a name someone would name a horse... especially if they wanted the horse to win. It made perfect sense to her. "but it's very pretty," she said with a very bright smile as she firmly shook the woman's hand back. She seemed like a nice enough person, with a cowboy hat and a gun. Mitzi saw the gun but she didn't really think much of it she just looked back out to the race track with a small bounce.
"Do you live and work in Brooklyn too?" she asked as she looked over towards the gate and the horses were lining up. Mitzi almost instantly forgot the question that she had just asked and became fascinated with the horses behind the gate. She wondered what their names were and if there was something printed somewhere with all the horses names on them. She started looking around the crowed but all she saw were betting tickets, nothing like a program... she thought they should print programs. Maybe she was just missing them. Girl wasn't the brightest blub in the box, but where she was dim witted she was very energetic!
