Connected to the hospital is a small building of one room dormitories for the young ladies in the nursing school. Sammie attempted to make hers feel like a home by draping curtains and sewing a table cloth. Even with her effort, it's a fairly pathetic room, with a small kitchen in the corner, table with two chairs, and her bed. Next to her trunk of clothes is also a small bookcase full mostly of dull medical books, with the exception of her favorite novel, North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell.
