She was struck a bit speechless, hearing his name. Even more so about his sister and her children. "I didn't." She spoke softly and then sniffled again with a flicker of a smile, "My name's Lara, but, mine not that big of a secret." She gave a shrug. She didn't entirely count herself with the rest of the newsies. Mainly because she had a home to go to and didn't live with the others anymore.
The sounds of the fray becoming quieter, she gave a glance back, not having noticed how far Bumlets-- Brian had walked, she spoke softly again. Unsure of herself and rather frightened still, but for the others, not really for herself, "We should stay... If the others get hurt... they'll need help."

((GOD I'm OCD can't leave a post unanswered or I toss and turn for hours.. I'm so mental..))
Bumlets looked at Shiner for a long moment as he watched, "Nice name.." But he shook his head as an after thought and kept walking, wondering what he was going to do with her. As her second speech broke threw his thoughts he paused to look back towards the violence.
"Our best bet is to get you safe, Lara.." Yes he used her name, he wrinkled his nose a bit and started walking as he heard the sounds of gunshots he paused and turned back sharply. So the guns were finally going off. He was torn between doing right by Shiner and giving into his own instincts to go back and help his borough brothers out in this hellacious fight. He frowned hard as he tried to think it over before he turned and continued walking. "I'd be distracted if I was worried about you, so would Dutchy. Best to get you safe, then I'll come back.."

She nearly jumped out of his arms at the sound of the guns and tried to look for any fallen kids or men ...or children, as Bumlets turned, therefore turning her. She couldn't see any, but her heart started at a rabbit pace again in fear. She struggled for him to put her down, not viciously but forcefully enough so he finally would. She stay close to him, holding his arm, "Just get me somewhere safe for now where I won't be seen... I... wouldn't be much help out there. But if someone was hurt, I could at least look after them until more help arrived or... or something."

"Time ta kick some ass..." Flip muttered, and charged through the door. He decked a gaurd, and heard him hit the floor hard, he gave the gaurd another kick then continued. As he was rounding a corner another gaurd came at him, full force. Flip tried to dive to the side but just got a tooth knocked out of his mouth as the gaurds fist collided with his face.
"Sun of a bitch..." Flip cursed and spit out some blood, oh, now he was angry. He grabbed the gaurd by the hair and pulled back his fist... A cool metal touched the side of his skin, causing a chill to run down his spine. He gulped, Flip Chance had been in many fights but this was diffrent. A gun had never been involved.
"So you thought ya were tough ey?" The criminal laughed, "Would you like to know what would happen if a pull this trigga?"
"Nah..." Flip tried not to sound scared, he know it would just make the gaurd react, "I'll pass thanks..."
The gaurd cackled again, "A commedian huh? Lets see if you'll still be laughing afta, I'm done with ya..."
Would he actaully do it? Would he? Flip asked himself over and over and gulped again.
"1, 2..." The criminal counted.
Yes he would.
"3" And he pulled the trigger.

Piper stormed through the back door with a baseball bat in hand and anger in her heart. She wanted to get those guards, teach them a lesson and save those kids. She looked around as she saw Flip Chance, dead. Piper covered her mouth to hide her scream as she looked at the cold body on the floor. She hardly knew him, but he was a newsie. She felt more anger run through her like hell as she saw a guard approach her in a fast rate. She swung the bat at his, slugging him in the face and seeing him crumple to the floor. She then felt him swipe her feet from under her, having her fall to the floor. He slammed his fist in her face, having her fly back some more from the punch. She got up in a flash and slammed the bat down on his feet, seeing him go unconscious. She raised her bat over her shoulder slowly, feeling some pain in her arm and face, and feeling a bruise insert itself on her cheek as she looked back at the body of Flip Chance.
"That was for ya, Flip." She muttered aloud, smearing the blood off her face and spitting out some blood from her mouth, walking away to look around the corner...

Chaos.
Keep a cool head, Kelly, he told himself over the sound of his pulse pounding in his ears. He needed to stand still for a moment. But he couldn't stop moving for a second. Needed to look for the kids. But couldn't take his eyes off the guns that surrounded them. He pushed past bloody scene after scene, trying as hard as he could to blind himself to the unmoving bodies sprawled on the ground and slumped against the walls. His eyes darted around. Shiner. Pup. Manhattan? Who else?
Milo!
Jack hadn't seen the young boy at all yet. He saw an opening at the back door to the warehouse. He shoved Piper out of the way and ran inside. Most of the guards were preoccupied outside, so Jack had less fear of calling out. "Milo?!" he yelled hoarsely. "Milo, where are ya?" For good measure (surprised that he could think so rationally) he added, "It's Jack!" He ducked his head in each room, hoping to stumble across the boy somewhere. It would all be for nothing if everyone didn't get out...

Milo sat motionless, his knees drawn up to his chest as the parts of the machines moved over his head and gunshots rang out from the area outside the building. he was terrified and it wasn't only the guns and the fighting that were causing it. Going under the machines to fix things or clean things up had always been Perry's job but when a sting had tangled beneath his machine the overseer,to his horror, had forced him to crawl down below and fix it which he had done on threat of death but when the first shots rang out and everyone left, he couldn't bring up the courage to move another inch. Not even to escape. These machines killed people and under them was the most dangerous part. He remembered all the stories that Rhoda and even his papa had told him about people getting hurt and even dying under there. He just didn't want to die.
He shut his eyes as tightly as he could, but they promptly shot open again as he heard a voice over all of the noise downstairs He'd known it was Jack before he had said it. He wanted to go out. To get away. but he couldn't move. It was too dangerous under the machine. As much as he willed himself to get out, he just couldn't manage it. "Jack!" he called out, trying to see something through the loom. "Jack! I'm under here!" he cried even more loudly, praying that the older boy would be able to follow his voice. "The loom's still on! I can't get out!"
