Tate let out a sound when she heard commotion from outside, there was chaos around her as women ran to and fro trying to get out or away from the guards. It was loud and she ducked down to the side of the machine and pulled the sheers to her line of sight as she peeked around the machine threw the clouds of cotton.
"They came.." it was relief, but it wasn't a they she was worried about it was a he. She wanted to see Danny. Shifting away form her machine she got up and started to run with the lot, bobbing and weaving trying to see others and trying to get to the door.
She felt someone grab her arm and spin her around, tossing her into a side wall as she lifted her head, eyes widening as she noticed the guard tower over her. The sheers were limp in her hands as she tried to get up and he angled the gun at her. This.. was the worst few days of her life... she closed her eyes and bowed her head. She tried.

Danny walked resolutely across the small field to the workhouse, using the chaos around him as a distraction as he slipped passed the already entangled guards. As he neared the building he stopped short at the sound of a pathetic scream, and looking to his right he saw one of the men towering over one of the smaller girls, twisting her arm as he held a gun to her neck. Clenching his jaw he made toward the scene, his anger directed as much at the man who held her captive as the leaders who allowed the girls to come. They did nothing but get in the way and force the boys to waste time coming to their rescue. Before making it over he spun to look behind him, a scream worthy of the gates of hell emitting from one of the Brooklyn girls as she leapt upon her attacker with a fury that left the man crouching in terror. Brooks girls didn't count...
Coming up behind the man who held the small girl by the arm Danny let out a high pitched whistle, causing the man to turn enough to where his gun no longer was aimed at its target and allowing the Brooklyn boy just enough time to connect his fist with the man's face without further jeopardizing the girl. As he fell back from the force the guard dropped his gun and Danny wasted no time in grabbing it. However, after checking the rounds he merely tucked it securely in his belt, glancing down carelessly at the now helpless man and knocking him unconscious with a boot to the face.
Taking a second to watch the war going on around him he looked down at the girl. "Get the hell outta here," He ducked as a stay bullet flew past and shoved the girl in the direction of the woods. "Now!"
He wasted no more time. Approaching the building he slipped around the side, finding a door with chains on it that had been left ajar in the chaos of the moment. He entered quickly but slid to a stop on the dusty concrete at the scene before him. There she was, crumpled on the floor with a gun pointed at her head.

She didn't even see Danny for all the good it did her, she reached out and stabbed the sheers into the man's boot hard, has hard as she could in that state, causing her captor to yelp because no one had expected that from one of the more docile girls that they'd captured. It had taken long enough for her to be finally fed up with the entire situation, enough to do something rash like that and as he was in shock she started scrambling across the floor to get away.
They'd finally showed up, they were here to save them. Now she had to get out and pray, but adrenalin hopped into her system as she spun onto her back and scrambled once the man got the sheers out of his foot and aimed the gun at her again. She needed something to defend herself with, anything... anything...

Danny's expression fell as he watched her attempt to defend herself, he hadn't expected it anymore than the man whom the shears had penetrated, but he didn't take quite as long to recover. His eyes hardened and his jaw set as he pulled the gun from his belt, aiming it directly at the man's back and poising his finger over the trigger. Instead of firing, however, he slowly cocked the weapon, allowing the ominous click to cause the man to freeze. "Drop it."
The man easily complied, just as Danny expected he would. These guys were pure cowardly shit. As he slowly turned he sneered at the Scottish boy, his lip curling in disdain. "Take the little tramp, see if I care." Sure he might miss out on the current weeks wages, but he'd made out good in this business already, as short lived as it was.
Danny remained unmoving, the gun pointed firmly at the man's chest. "Tate, I need you to leave. Wait for me outside the door. Now." He knew what he had to do, but it wasn't something he wanted her to see, not ever.

Her eyes widened when she saw him, Danny..... he'd actually come for her. She scrambled back and resisted the urge to throw herself in his arms and moved past him, her hand setting on his arm gently for a moment before she did as he asked. Her heart was hammering, it was Danny.... he'd come for her, he'd really come for her. She'd never doubted it. Not for a second..
Her head turned as she shut the door and closed her eyes. She was waiting, he'd asked her to wait. She wanted to cry with the relief she was feeling. Danny was here for her-- she knew he would come for her. But her head spun towards the door. Wait, she left him in there alone!

The door slam behind Tate echoed around the two men, but there was an eerie silence left it its wake. As Danny remained unmoving the guard at last spoke, his hands raised defensively as he slowly backed up. "Listen boy, you can have your tart, now lets just handle this like gentlemen."
Danny moved toward the man abruptly, grabbing him forcefully by the shoulder and dropping him to his knees. There was no reason to delay, he had to get back to Tate. The tactics of the guard quickly changed as he began to beg, sniveling like a child. "Oh come on boy, you don't want to..." His pleas were cut off, instantly silenced with a bullet to the head.
Standing over the gruesome form Danny tossed the gun carelessly to the floor, knowing it had only one bullet that he had saved in case he needed it. However he hadn't really needed it, not at all, and he knew that. It wasn't a knee jerk reaction or done in self-defense-- it was an execution.
Without so much as a second glance back he headed for the door and slipped outside, finding Tate leaning back against the building, bruised, weak, and scared. His heart ached as he approached her, and without so much as a hello he gently wrapped his arms around her delicate form, tucking his head down slightly and resting it softly against hers.

She felt him even before she saw him and her arms came around him easily and she sniffed a little, Danny came. She'd known all along he would. Strange how she never once thought of any one else coming to get her from this awful place. No one but Danny. She knew he'd move heaven and earth to come and get her. Because that was just who he was. She wanted to cry, but there wasn't a lot of time. Tate pressed up against him and let out a slow breath.
"I knew you'd come.. I just knew it.." she'd been almost afraid she would do something to rash and not be here when he made it. But she had managed, she felt the blood on his cloths and didn't care. This experience had changed her a little bit, she wasn't so stupid to the world anymore. But she felt a tear run down her face and she sniffed. "I knew you'd come and get me.."

The affect her words had on him was great, but it didn't show, and he didn't reply. He hadn't known himself that he would come and get her, or if she would even be alive should he try-- she'd had far more faith in him than he'd had in himself. Hearing another gunshot inside Danny was sapped from his thoughts and he grabbed her softly by the wrist, pulling her toward the closest area of forest and away from the brutality and violence that surrounded them. "Come on, let's get you out of here."

She jumped at the gunshot and pressed into Dani before he took her wrist and she moved to take his hand. "Danny I really want to go home.." her voice was shaky but she didn't argue with him at all. She just closed her eyes and turned her head from all the chaos so she didn't have to see it. She had endless faith, endless when it came to certain things. And she would always believe in Danny Hughes. That was kind of silly but she would never not believe in him. Because he'd never given her any reason to doubt. He'd always come..
