She closed her eyes, well she was a faithful woman who loved him with a fiery passion. She hated like she loved it was that simple and she just hugged him. The sorry, he never said that-- because he was rarely ever sorry for anything. Things-- felt right for the first time in awhile.
"I came into a windfall..." lifting her chin she looked into his eyes, and the corners of her lips curved before she smiled. "I love you too.. don't think I can ever not."

Sneaks chuckled, "Well I'm glad you did. I did quite well in New Orleans as well." He brushed a hand through her hair before kissing her gently, "And good. I'd be quite put out if I came back and you hated me.""

She sighed, she missed that from him. "I kind of tried to," she admitted, telling him she that that he didn't want her anymore was like admitting about her own self worth but she shook her head and brushed it off. "I got a job, German broad in Brooklyn is teaching me how to bake out of her restaurant.. it's kind of nice there.." Her arm moved around his waist and she kind of let everything go, it didn't matter anymore did it?

>>>>NEW DAY<<<<
Shiner hugged her stomach, walking down Bottle Alley. She still felt confused and humiliated and so very foolish. And heartsick. She had told her Uncle Walter she hadn't been feeling well. And today she told him she was feeling a little better and decided to go out with her friends. She lied. She didn't want to see anyone. But she didn't want to be by herself either, not really.
She thought of actually going by the Boy's Lodging house to see if Dutchy wanted to go to the library. But changed her mind. Did they know Avalanche was married? Surely Dutchy would have mentioned it. Surely... But when she had mentioned Avalanche to him all he had said was what a nice guy Ave was...
She took a deep breath and wrapped her shawl around her tighter. Her Uncle probably knew she was lying about seeing the other newsies. When she went, she would were the clothing she had bought to fit in with them the night she had run away from Walt. She wore her favorite green everyday dress.
And wasn't paying any attention at all to where she was going.

Robert's boots kicked at the dirt as he walked aimlessly through the foul core of Baxter Street. He wasn't sure how he ended up there. An innocent stroll through Manhattan's Lower Eastside caused him to get turned around somewhere and instead of stopping and asking the questionable characters around him for directions, he simply continued to walk.
Turning down Bottle Alley he saw a young woman looking rather distressed as she trudged along the way toward him. "Miss," he asked, "are you all right?"

She stopped, looking up seeing the rather well dressed man. Either he was a gangster, crime lord, or, like her, just lost.
She hoped it was the latter.
She took a deep breath and forced a smile, then a shrug. But her voice trembled slightly and her eyes were still red rimmed with tears, "Just... lost."

"Me too. These alleys can be a bit confusing if you're not use to them. Care to find our way out together?" He held out his hand, a gentleman to the end.

She gave him a small smile, but kept her arms tightly around her waist, still not foolish enough to trust him yet. He seemed nice enough. And even rather good looking. Perhaps only a bit older than her.
But Avalanche had been nice to her, agreed to go on a date, and then she discovered he'd been married all along...
She nodded, "That's very kind of you." She could run if he caused trouble and holding his hand wouldn't help with that if he did. "What's your name?"

He understood her circumspection toward him. She didn't know him, after all and they had just met in an alley. So he stuck his hands into his pockets amd walked along.
"Robert and yours?"

"Lara Rippy," She answered and wiped at her face again with her hand quickly, "It is awful nice of you to offer to walk me out. Even if you're lost as well."
She laughed a little, hoping that he wouldn't suddenly take advantage of her and steal her money.
"No last name, Robert?"

Ironically he shook his head. "No, just Robert and it's no trouble , really. I enjoy the company. " He walked along quietly for a few minutes looking around the alley and then back to Lara. "If you don't mind me saying, you seem to be fretting over something."

She scoffed, rolling her eyes a little, "Is it that obvious...?"
Then, a bit less off handedly she nodded, "I... Well, I guess I put to much stock in a boy that I liked..."
Giving the extra emphasis on boy was more to the person's behavior, not age.

Robert furrowed his brows at her sudden derisive tone. Maybe this was why he never left the building he'd been making his home for going on four months now. It had been on his mind earlier that day why he didn't make more trips out into the open. Besides being spotted and taunted by his former comrades, the people he meant weren't all too friendly. He sighed and rubbed his forehead as she gave her reason. He knew such trouble. Why, he was in his current position because he'd put a girl before everything, even his family.
"Ah, yes, well you'll find out there are more like that than few. Those who would do you wrong without thinking twice, that is."

(Holy Toledo you're back!)
She sighed, but looked to him and smiled at his honesty. It was unfortunate news, but he wasn't trying to charm her or tell her how pretty she was or anything like that. Avalanche would do that. That seemed to be all he ever did. She wasn't sure she could stomach Robert if he started to act like anything other than just a boy she'd only met.
"Do you think you're one of those boys?" She spoke almost teasingly.

((haha sorry. i forgot all about this post))
Robert grinned and actually...laughed? It was a small one, more of a chuckle, but it was still that sensation of humor that had been lost to him until now.
"You don't have to worry about me. I would have done it by now. Besides, I'm not one for hurting children. What are you, twelve?"
