Her stomach flipped at the sight of blood, and even more at the sight of Jensen's gun. She hadn't accounted for this to happen. Waltz racked her brain for options, coming up with nothing. There was no way out, no townspeople to come to her rescue. In short, Waltz was trapped.
She bit her lip in contemplation. He was terribly right, of course. "So what now? You expect me to keep quiet about the whole thing?" Waltz demanded, leaning against the alley wall, fully understanding the gravity of the situation. Certainly she'd keep quiet, especially if that meant she could keep her life.

"I ain't gonna shoot anyone, dipshit," Jensen snapped at Danny, tucking the gun into his shoulder holster again. He turned away, scrubbing a hand over his face, then turned back. "Christ," he muttered, mostly to himself, "why do I always find the chumps...?"
"So what now? You expect me to keep quiet about the whole thing?"
Jensen rolled his eyes and scoffed loudly. "Keep quiet about what, lady? You get yourself lost, you ask strangers for help, you got one guy who don't know where the hell he is offering to be lost with you, you got another guy knows his way around. You go with the lost guy, so the other guy--who, okay, yeah, been in the hooch a bit tonight--gives you directions, outta the goodness of his li'l heart, so you ain't wandering around all night with a con who'd steal the girdle right off your ass before the night's up. Now him and I--" He gestured between Danny and himself. "--we're havin' a li'l spat. So what exactly would you be telling anyone?"
His snappy little monologue would've been a lot more impressive had his booze-hazed world not chosen that moment to tilt juuust a touch, making him stagger slightly to one side and grasp for the nearest object to keep him upright. Unfortunately, the nearest object was a broken-down wooden crate, and he grabbed directly for a piece studded with a ragged nail. It sliced into the palm of his hand, and he grunted in pain, pulling back again. "Son of a...!"

Waltz jumped back. Never before had such vulgarity been directed at her. She was always the nice one, the quiet one. And she was sick of it.
Suddenly feeling empowered, she crossed her arms in front of her chest. "I could tell them your names, Mr. Flynn. And from what I heard tonight, it sounds like the two of ya coincide with the Mafia. The bulls would be glad to heah that, I'm sure."
The moment those words left her mouth, Waltz wanted to take them all back. How stupid of her to even threaten him. She was digging her own grave, alright, just like the idiot she was. God, she hoped she would make it out in one piece.
It seemed as though her prayers had been answered when suddenly, Jensen slipped, probably out of his drunken stupor, cutting himself in the process. Waltz seized her chance and took off for the mouth of the alley. She didn't dare stop to look back. She just kept on running.

Jensen took up the edge of his shirt and pressed it against his bleeding palm when he saw Waltz take off. Watching her bolt for the mouth of the alley like she was being run down by the devil himself, Jensen started to laugh, loudly.
"Dumb bitch," Jensen muttered to Danny. Turning back in her direction, he roared, though she'd already cleared the corner and was probably halfway to Brooklyn, the way she took off, "You don't think Mister Kelly got them bulls in the palm of his hand? You think anyone's gonna listen to some stupid kid who got herself lost and scared in a back alley? You think you ever gonna get home now, Miss-Waltz-who-stays-at-the-lodging-house-in-Queens-and-just-smart-alecked-herself-into-a-world-of-trouble?!"

((New Day))
Bumpy walked down the alley counting the tiny slips in his hand while kicking through the filth, when he saw the tough-looking lad with sunken eyes he'd been looking for standing on the stairs behind a rundown shanty. When he saw Bumpy making his way toward him, he made no move to retreat, but shooed the crowed around him away casually.
In a menacingly grating voice he greeted, "Hey Bumpy, how's it going?"
Not in the mood for formalities, Bumpy got straight to the reason he was there. "Word is, Bullseye, you've been running numbers in Adams' neighborhood again. I gotta say I'm a little surprised to see you here. Thought we had an agreement that you was gonna leave town."
"Well, I was gonna leave, Bumpy," assured Bullseye, "but your girl, she begged me to stay."
Bullseye smiled, chuckling, as he attempted to light a cigar while keeping his eyes on Bumpy, who too, got a kick out of Bullseye's joke. He grinned and allowed Bullseye to light his cigar and place it in his mouth just so he could knock it out. This gesture caused Bullseye to snap, which is just what Bumpy was expecting. Bullseye was nothing but a street hood from Brooklyn, but his temper matched the entire boroughs. He backhanded Bumpy with more force than Bumpy had anticipated. His hand flew to his cheek and he felt the long scar left by the ring on Bullseye's finger. The two cronies behind Bumpy already had Bullseye in restrained, waiting for his orders. Looking down at the blood on his hands, Bumpy could think of only one punishment suitable enough.
"Bullseye, Bullseye," he said, shaking his head as if he were a disappointed father. "You just committed suicide, boy."
Bullseye was then taken further into the alley cursing and yelling revenge. Bumpy sighed and sat on the stairs, taking out a white handkerchief and instead of wiping his face that was in need, he put the cloth to his nose and blew. "I think I'm catchin' a cold."

((New Day))
Birdie was waiting for David, she hadn't been able to talk to Jack and their alliance was-- an uneasy one at best. Jack didn't like that he never knew where she stood and she didn't like that he thought he was above her. So normally when she had something to say she would go to David before Jack. Then go to Jack just to piss him off, hey- she was still Brooklyn proud after all. Adjusting her cap more firmly on her head she turned to look down the alleyway and took a drag from her smoke.
She wasn't going to the meeting but she could talk to David before he went. Right? after all why go when she knew what was going to be said?

David's eyes darted down Bottle Alley with determination, trying to keep an eye out for Birdie, who was notoriously easy to spot. He liked the girl well enough, at his more thoughtful times David could admit that they were rather alike, whispering into the respective leaders ears when it was neccessary. But now he'd been alerted that Birdie wanted to talk to him and he couldn't imagine why.
He saw her then, smoking on a cig and looking as comfortable as could be as she adjusted her cap. Running a few fingers through his hair, he approached. "Birdie," He said by way of greeting.

Her brow lifted and she took a long drag from her smoke before she blew out the smoke turning her head to face him. "Davey.. I've got some information for you that you're going to need since we're all going on a little out of town trip... " She tilted her head as she shoved her hands into the pockets of her coat before tilting her head back for a moment.
"A little bit of... lay of the land information ya might want to pass on to old, Jacky-boy.. since he and I are still not on speaking terms.." Well it wasn't like she and Jack weren't always fighting about something. Be it space or where the lines were and what was crossing them. Made things interesting.

David raised his eyebrow at news of information and leaned on the wall beside Birdie, watching her carefully. "That so?" He said conversationally, most everyone knew that he was the most effective means for getting a message to Jack, short of talking to the man himself. "What have you heard?" He asked, because any information about things was good information and Birdie was a reliable source when it counted.

She waved her hand that held her smoke and folded her arms before she looked over at him, "There's a hill in front of the factory, it's a good place to hide. They didn't do to well with fortification when they built the place, they were more concerned with people getting out, not gettin in." she took a slow drag and let her head fall back. "There's a treeline, but there's a fifteen yard clearing around the perimeter of the place.. I'm sure Sweets said somethin' about it but when you're runnin I'm sure she didn't pay attention to anythin' other then the heavily armed blokes at every door to the place.."

David rubbed at his chin as he absorbed what Birdie was saying, playing out the possibilities in his mind. "I was surprised that Sweets noticed as much as she did," He commented, Sweets had held up remarkably well but Birdie's information surely did add to what Sweets had told them. "The hill will be good to use for protection from view on the approach..." he mused aloud, getting lost in thought for the moment.
After some time he turned to look at her, "Thanks for the info Birdie, I'll pass it along to Jack, we'll need to know as much as we can going in."

She nodded, "I've got to get back to Brooklyn, we're heading out soon. I'll try to stall for a bit to make sure we're all out at the same time. Better that way... I've got to get back to Decker.." Where had that come from, she shook her head. "I told him I'd be back and I had something to do.." Because she'd just been with him and had ducked out to talked to David? Yeah that's whys he mentioned it, not like... well she had a feeling that Decker actually liked her and it was interesting to think about.

"I should get back to Jack," David nodded his head in agreement, knowing that Manhattan would be heading out soon as well. He arched his eyebrow at her mention of Decker, but didn't give it much thought beyond that. Birdie's business was her own. "Thanks again for the info and hey Birdie?" David paused for a moment, studying the girl before continuing. "Take care of yourself out there tonight."

She smirked at him and nodded when he said that, "You too Dave. Someone needs to keep hot headed Jack Kelly from doing something stupid..." she actually smiled and took another drag as she started to walk away. "Good luck, David." Then the danish girl was gone, fading into the shadows.

David smiled back at her, knowing how rare being graced with one from Spot's little birdie could be. He watched her go, until the last signed of her had faded into the long shadows that were beginning to form in the alley as the sun dipped lower in the sky. David lingered for a few minutes more before stuffing his hands in his pockets and headed back towards the heart of Manhattan and to find Jack.
