He offered her a small smile and patted the spot next to him as he shook his head, "Sad to say I haven't. The lad wanted me to tell him story after story last night.." he flashed his borough mate a grin. "I'm sure he's fine.." but--- there was something keeping from what he'd heard. Prince had lost some kids in Queens a week or so ago and Manhattan had lost a heap. Both Jack and Prince were on attack and Dodger-- well he was just himself in every fashion but this was something to ponder. "Don't you worry, Lex... I'll make sure he's alright.." If he wasn't, if something had happened Dodger would make them pay.
"Did I tell you about the Stan's Bakery girl that got the tar beat out o' her a couple nights ago? She was stayin at the lodging house in my room for a bit. Not like I used it, but she didn't say much about what happened. Keep your years open huh?" he liked Lexi. He trusted his girls and he trusted her brother more than he trusted a lot of his newsies.

Lexi smiled as she sat down next to Dodger, "I'm sure your right, I'm sure he's off with Reid." That being said she was still going to find her brother to make sure he had Perry with him once her conversation with Dodger was over. When he mentioned that he would make sure he was alright Lexi smiled gratefully, "Thanks."
As the conversation turned to the girl who had been beaten up a worried frown crossed Lexi's face and she nodded, "If I hear anything I'll tell you straight away." She didn't like to think of things like that happening so close to her home and to her family. It was never pleasant to think of a person, woman and child especially being beaten up.

Dodger found himself nodding before he sighed, shaking his head. Well the girl getting beaten up was bad. "I'm going to ask your brother to escort her to Manhattan if she didn't decide to go off on her own already." But she know that Lexi would worry it was her nature. "I've needed to go over to the Girl's house and check on you lot, make sure you're doing alright. Needed to talk to Fibs also.." one of his favorite people even if she was a little liar.

Lexi nodded, "I haven't heard anything really...but you should still check." After all she didn't sit around and chat with the girls who lived at the house. That's probably why she still hadn't made all that many friends. Well that and she was too wrapped up in her own problems and taking care of her family. "I know he'll do it in a heartbeat." Reid had a good heart and he would want to help anyway he could if he knew that a girl had been beaten like that.

Dodger nodded, "he's a good lad, and you're one of the better girls. I've been thinkin' for awhile now to get someone over at the Girl's house to keep things in 0rder when I can't be there.. report to me if things go array, you know.. " he scratched the back of his head. Basically lead the girls house while he wasn't there. At least the other leaders didn't have THIS kind of problem. How could he keep track of his kids when they were in two places?

Lexi nodded, thoughtfully, "That's a good idea. I mean you can't possibly be in two places at once so it would be helpful to you with keeping an eye on everyone." Lexi smiled, the house she'd been at in Jersey had done that but for a different reason. The male leader hadn't been one to make nice with the girls so it had been helpful when one of the girls was having a problem to have the girl he had chosen to help him to be there to talk to them.

He chuckled a little, "I try love.. I do but it's a pain really. I'll have ta get you girls together and figure something out. I was trying to get Moira to take over the house since Mrs. Bradley is gone but she threw a wee fit over it.." She'd basically been aghast he'd even asked because she didn't thinks he could do it. He sighed. "Would you like to in the meantime? Until we find something more permanent Lex?"

Lexi looked at him, surprised, she hadn't been expecting him to ask her. Of course, he probably didn't realize just how little she knew the other girls. She would do it though after all it wasn't permanent and maybe this would help her get to know her fellow lodgers better. "Sure, at least until someone permanent can be found." She didn't mind helping out Dodger, especially since he was so kind and understanding with Perry. Most people just got fed up with him, but Dodger had always been good to him.

Dodger was good to everyone, and he honestly liked the kid and enjoyed showing him things and his energy. He wasn't a burden like most would assume the Bronx leader would see a kid as. Also he trusted Reid and Lexi to do their best for him as it were. Their loyalty helped threw hard times. He felt the same way about most of his kids.
"Thanks, Lexi love. I do appreciate it." he gave her a grin and rugged on one of her curls. "Even if you don't know the girls all that well, I trust you.." Oh he knew that she didn't know them well. He could charm any information he wanted to at times.

Lexi laughed, and shook her head, leave it to Dodger to truly know what is going on in both lodging houses with all of his newsies. "You're welcome, Dodge. You know my family appreciates everything you've done for us. Even telling story upon story to Perry." Lexi smiled, and continued, "This may even help me get to know everyone so maybe I should be thanking you."

"You've got a good borough," Dodger couldn't help but he proud of that and he flashed her a grin. "And don't be thankin' me love. I just do it.. I don't really think about it much.. all the boroughs have their quirks... mines got it's own.." He had more families and had always had a lot of girls that didn't usual sell newspapers at his house. But he managed well enough.
Chuckling he looked up, "You should get to know the girls better. Who knows might even make a good friend.." he winked. Hey, friends kept the world from stalling as far as he was concerned. He had always had Peem around to keep him honest.

Lexi smiled as she listened to Dodger, "Yeah I might, guess I've been so caught up in taking care of Perry and Reid the only person I've spent much time with doesn't even live in our borough." Lexi laughed and shook her head, she didn't see much of him really but when she did he always put her in a great mood.

He raised a brow and ran his hand over his stubble, he rarely shaved and when he did, he tended to let it go for awhile. He was about nineteen as it was so he was getting older. But he didn't mind to much really. "And who might that be love? Do I need to go and beat someone up out of jealousy?" he grinned at her, he was jesting but he did want to know who Lexi was spending so much time with outside of the borough. Especially with all the tension going on lately.

Lexi couldn't help the laughter that bubbled up inside her, thinking about Dodger being jealous. She knew he was joking, "Not at all, we're just friends anyway. Avalanche though...that's his name." Lexi laughed again and shook her head, the last thing on her mind these days was chasing boys. But if the time did ever come she probably would go after Avalanche. He was a great guy and friend, but right now her biggest concern was taking care of her family. Boyfriends just didn't factor into the equation.

He grabbed his heart as if he'd been wounded, "Oh no, Ave has struck again.." he found himself chuckling as he shook his head. Well at least it was Avalanche, out of all the guys he knew that was one that could be trusted in a blink. "He's a good one, love. And he's done a lot for a lot of people in this town without asking for much in return. Good man.." he nodded at that and tapped his hat a bit to get it to sit a little differently on his head.
"You sure I don't have to beat anyone up?"
