It's damp and dark under here. Watch your step, the rocks get slippery, but it's a good place to go for some privacy.

<< New Day >>
Mystery walked under the bridge carefully. It is wet and slippery under here and she didn't want to fall and hurt herself. She sat down on the ground even though its wet and slippery. She pulled her knees up to her chest and settled her chin on her scraped knee from falling over some rich and snobby hoity toity who didn't even care that she fell over them.

((New Day)) Piper needed to cool off, and the Harlem River was a good way to do it. Kicking her shoes off and taking off her socks, Piper trotted down under the bridge in her sundress she would only wear on some occasions, Piper looked down at the river and pushed back her red hair from her eyes, seeing the water go by with ease. She sat down by the edge, placing her feet in the water. It was nice and cold, embracing her feet with open coolness.

Hush had been just sitting down under a tree right near the river, his socks and shoes off, just sitting there, being contempt and comfortable. His feet were in the water once he noticed that a girl had come and sat down a few feet away, doing the same thing as him. Being a very shy and quiet person, he stayed where he was, a small grin on his face.

Piper saw a boy looking over at her and minding his own again. Piper shrugged and stood up again, walking by the water back and forth, back and forth. She played with the hem of her dress as she walked, having her mind wander off to be somewhere else.
Piper was humming a new song she heard from the musical theater, the one of the newise rally. She smiled as she replayed the song in her head.
"High times hard times, sometimes the livin' is sweet sometimes there's nothin' to eat, but I always land on my feet...." Having the rest of the song turn into a humming session, Piper kept pacing back and forth along the river under the bridge.

He saw her out of the corner of his eye look at him, but he didn't look back. She got up and started walking, then humming, then singing. Hush smiled at the song. He knew that was from the rally. Hush crossed his legs and began picking at the grass that was underneath him. ((OOC: Just so you know, he is really shy, so he won't make the first move ))

Piper could see the boy smiling from the corner of her eye. She grinned and walked over to him, stopping at a fair distance from him to make sure it wasn't so awkward for them both. She put her feet back in the water again, reliving the fresh cool feel of the water around her. She leaned back on her hands and looked over at the boy.
"You a Newsie too?" Piper asked, thinking he was one because she saw him smile to her song from the rally.

Hush licked his lips and swallowed the lump that had already formed in his throat as she walked over to him and sat down. He leaned forward a little bit, his blond hair falling into his face. The smile was still there slightly, but you had to actually look close at him to see it.
"Yes. Bronx Newsie." Hush told her quietly, still plucking the grass between his feet.

"Really? You look more like a Queens Newsie, handsome looking in the face. Never pictured you as a Bronx Newsie." Piper said aloud to herself, catching herself from saying anything else out loud.
"Well, I'm Piper from Manhattan." Piper introduced herself out loud.

Hush blushed at her with a small smile on her face. "Um...thanks I guess." He paused, then continued, "How's Manhattan?" He didn't really talk that much, so he didn't know if that was enough or not.

"Very busy, and loud at times. I love every single bit of it." Piper replied as she pushed her red hair from her face to see him some more, but only saw some blond hair covering his eyes and blushing cheeks and a grin. That made her happy, to see him happy from their small conversation.
"How's the bronx treating you?" Piper asked him aloud, seeing how shy he was.

He nodded his head at her words, not really knowing what to say. He wasn't in Manhattan a lot, and he thought that it was probably the best place to be in New York. Ever.
"It's good I guess. The usual, loud, noisy. Sort of dirty." He mumbled quietly.

"Yeah the Bronx was never a clean place anywho, but what is clean here in New York? Most kids would have to resort eating off the streets." Piper replied back in a sad tone as she looked at the water passing by.
"So, how long have you been a Newsie for?" Piper asked Hush in wonder and curiosity. Some kids were Newsies for months at a time, and some for years. It all depended on the Newsie and where they were coming from.

"Um...actually...I've been a newsie since I was born." He replied in a sad, yet quiet tone. It wasn't usual him to be talking about his past, nor to be talking at all. It took a very special person to get him out in the open and alive.

"Ah, I know some kids like that. I'm that way too, but since I was 7 years old. I had to choose either school or being a newsie. I couldn't afford going to school, so I became a Newsie." Piper explained as she looked at Hush with her head tilted to the side, as if trying to answer a hard question.
