Magenta smiled brightly when he asked if she wanted to sell with him. "Yeah! I would love too. " She paused for a few seconds before commenting, "Ya, same with me, I've been trying to make a few friends, but no, everyone is ignoring me.." She thought about that guy Frost she met, who hardly spoke to words to her.
"Oh, yup. Melody. He's twelve, but also a pretty good seller. His nickname is a little unusual, but he has a wonderful voice." Remembering when Melody started humming a song while they sold together, she took a liking to it. She started humming without knowing.

"I can't imagine why." Lock tilted his head in thought. He was hoping he'd have a little better luck at meeting people. "Well, I'm a start." He gave a deep, quick laugh, his smile growing a bit more the further his mind went from selling papes.
"Maybe I'll meet him..." Lock mused quietly, but still audibly. He was about to ask her if she enjoyed a bit of singing, but suddenly a sound drifted into his ear. It took a second, but he realized it was Magenta humming. With a chuckle he spoke, "I see you like music as well."

"Yeah, ya are." Magenta smiled when he laughed, but she could tell that this is a start of a great friendship. She also knows that when Melody met Lock, he would love him like an older brother, she giggled at the thought.
"Oh," Magenta blushed when she noticed she started humming, "Yeah, it was a song that Melody always sings. I don't know the words though, he's usually humming it as well."

Lock shot an apologetic look when she blushed. "It's a nice song." He had never heard it before... not that he grew up listening to many songs. Most of the life he remembers is filled with machinery noise in the background. "I never listened to much music... but i could probably hum the sound of machines starting up and running." This was probably the first time he mentioned the work house in a calm tone, almost jokingly. "Though, you wouldn't want to listen to that... it's pretty annoying."

"Thanks, I think Melody mentioned the name once, I think it was You'll Be In My Heart, he told me that our mother sang that to him a few times when he was crying." Smirking at Lock, she laughed a little. "Well, I'm not sure, but, it might sound a little...aggravating."

Lock nodded and grinned, "Yeah, worst noise ever." He sighed, thinking once more of the troubles he was in as a newsies. "That's one of the perks of selling papes." He shrugged the thought out of his mind. "No machines trying to make you deaf."
"Do you have any plans... because I was thinking about getting something to eat, and it's more fun to dine with someone, rather than alone." He spoke slowly at first, trying to get the words out, but he caught on a rhythm when he started talking about eating. It wasn't until now that he realized how hungry he was.

Smiling at him again, she answered him question, "No, I don't have anything going on, I'm kind of hungry anyway. I think it is more fun with someone as well, when I eat alone, it's like I'm invisible." Her thoughts wandered, but she shook her head free of her thoughts.

Lock was excited to have a friend to eat with, but didn't really show it. Emotions tended to downsize when it came to facial expressions. His lips spread into a slight smile; the biggest change was his eyes - they went from almost a dull gray from worry to a bright, light gray. "Where should we go?" He stood as he asked, and put on his dark gray cabbie hat. "There's a place called Molivos', and a Deli on Myrtly Avenue." He was happy that he paid attention around him when selling papes.

Magenta gave him a smile back, and she had noticed the dramatic change in his eye color, which only made her smile even more. "Well, we can go to the Deli if you would like." She already had her brown cabby hat on, so she only had to stand up with him.

"The deli's good." He looked around for a second to make sure he knew where he was going, then started walking. His eyes flickered from her to what was in front of him, so he wouldn't hit anything.
(you wanna start a post at the deli?)

_new Day _
Jester sat down on the bench picking at the gray dress she wore. It was ugly and smelled funny, but really she shouldnt complain, it was all she had right now since she got her other pair of clothes stolen. She missed her pants and suspenders. At least she still had her hat, she had no idea what she would have done if that had been stolen as well.
She tugged at a curl that hung over her shoulder and thought for a few moments. She really should sell today, but she didnt have much money and she wasnt so sure how well she would do so she wasnt so sure it would be worth it. Chewing her lip she started to hum to herself while kicking her feet back and forth kicking at the ground every once and awhile.

Robert walked along the Queens streets with one hand in his pocket. The other, holding the chain to his pocket watch, swinging it merrily. It was his first time in the borough and he found that he liked it a lot. The streets were cleaner, even in the less noble parts of town, and the people seems friendlier than those he had run into recently.
Something caught his eye, he couldn't say what, and he became distracted, causing the watch to fall from his hands and fall onto the ground, breaking the cover. With a whispered curse, Robert bent over to pick up the watch. He examined it carefully. It didn't seem to be in too bad a shape. The watch was old and had broken before. It shouldn't take long to fix it, he thought. Walking over to a nearby bench, he sat and began to fix the watch.

Jester was kind of lost in her own world, something that was common for her. It was one of the reasons why she was so bad at selling. Shed been a newsie for longer then she could even think of and she was still very much terrible at selling. Sometimes she could get the pity toss at her and if she really tried to be all flirty like shed seen some of the girls, she could sell more that way as well. But with her she was just too easily distracted. She didnt like sticking to one thing and selling was so boring.
Jester was brought from her own musings when someone sat down on the seat next to her. She looked over and tilted her head slightly, curious to this new person. He was definitely no newsie. She was surprised he had sat down next to her. Though he hadnt said anything to her, either he was choosing to ignore her or he didnt realize she was there. Some people liked to pretend anything of lower class was beyond their vision line.
This guy seemed to be quite concentrated on the watch in his hand and Jester figured that he probably just didnt notice. She wasnt an attention seeker, but she aslo had a tendancy to need to talk with whoever was nearby. "What happened?" he asked, scooting closer to get a better look at it. It looked nice other then the parts that looked obviously broke.

"My watch broke again. It's pretty old, though" he clasped the two ends of the watch together and with a snap, the watch was fixed. "There's nothing to it, really."
He looked up at the person who the voice belonged to and smiled when he saw a pretty girl looking around his age. Holding out his hand, he greeted, "Robert. How do you do?"
