Window Chairs

"MUSE!"

Muse's head snapped over when her name was called, her look of confusion changed to a large smile when she saw Rex. If anyone could distract her from her thoughts it was her brother. Getting up she tossed the book she was holding in the chair and ran over to him. "REX!" She laughed as she tackled him. "Quiet yer in a library!" She playfully whispered to him.

Looking at Rio she smiled and stepped away from Rex holding out an ink stained hand for a shake, "Heya I'm Muse," She said politely.

"REX! Quiet yer in a library!"

"Oh hehe, whoops...I forgot. Well...You be quiet! Yer in a library too!" He whispered back sternly, but his blue eyes danced more than ever and he poked her in the side as revenge for tackling him.

"Uh oh, that librarian's staring at you cuz you threw the book," Rex told Muse, glancing at the librarian and laughing.

"Heya I'm Muse,"

Rex broke in and grinned, "Yep Rio this is my sister Muse and Muse this is Rio. i found her in the shoe store and she helped me get new boots and I made her this!" He took Rio's hand and held it up to show Muse his shoestring sculpture.

Rio was trying really hard not to laugh at the exchange between the two, because really, she hoped not to get kicked out of the library today. Ah well. She shook her head and smiled at the other girl.

"Heya I'm Muse,"

"Yep Rio this is my sister Muse and Muse this is Rio. i found her in the shoe store and she helped me get new boots and I made her this!"

Rio's smile turning to a grin and a laugh as Rex grabbed her hand and shoved it in Muse's face. "Hi, Muse." she said, waving with her other hand. "Was nothing. I only figured we'd better get out of that shop before the poor shopkeep called the bulls."

"Oh hehe, whoops...I forgot. Well...You be quiet! Yer in a library too!"

Muse made a face at him but just laughed shaking her head and squeaking a bit when he poked her side. Swatting his hand away glared up at her brother. "Just wait buddy, I'll get ya when ya aint suspectin' it." She said pointing at him when laughed unable to keep her serious look.

"Uh oh, that librarian's staring at you cuz you threw the book,"

She looked over at the librarian and gave an apologetic smile and then looked back at the two in front of her with a laugh. "I didn't throw it just tossed it, and it landed on a chair its fine there cushion ta protect it."

"Yep Rio this is my sister Muse and Muse this is Rio. i found her in the shoe store and she helped me get new boots and I made her this!"

"Hi, Muse. Was nothing. I only figured we'd better get out of that shop before the poor shopkeep called the bulls."

She couldn't help but laugh at Rex he was always so excited. She looked at the shoestring sculpture and smiled, it was neat looking. Looking at Rio she laughed a bit. "The librarian will probably kick us out," She pointed to Rex jokingly. "He can't stay quiet if it saved his life." She was just joking, she knew that he could be quiet when he wanted to be or when he was thinking. "Let's go sit down," She suggested gesturing to the chairs that she was sitting at before they come in. "So why'd ya come ta the library?" She asked starting to walk backwards.

"Just wait buddy, I'll get ya when ya aint suspectin' it."

Rex yawned and gave her a pointed look, before backing up at her glare, Muse sure could give a good glare, but realizing she was only joking, he laughed, but hadn't stopped soon enough, he knocked into a plant, watching it crash to the ground. He looked up at them sheepishly, backing away from the plant and grabbing their hands, darting away so they wouldn't be seen as the culprits, or if they had, so they could hide before the librarian got angry.

"The librarian will probably kick us out, He can't stay quiet if it saved his life."

Rex turned to give her a stubborn pout, and clapped a hand over his mouth, telling them he wouldn't speak.

"Let's go sit down,"

Rex plopped down on one of the chairs, looking around eagerly, yawning again and shifting in his seat so he could get a better view of the rows and rows of books, and read the sign titles that indicated what kind of books were on each shelf.

"So why'd ya come ta the library?"

"Cuz' Rio likes to read," Rex told her simply, turning to give Rio a big grin.

Rio watched, smiling and shaking her head at the banter between the brother and sister. She thought about her sisters and couldn't remember the last time they had joked around with each other, if they ever had.

Her sisters were too straight laced, she thought. Too boring.

"He can't stay quiet if it saved his life."

Rio laughed. "I had a feeling. Why do I feel like this outing was a Bad Idea?" she asked, wrinkling her nose at Rex teasingly, knowing full well that if Rex was going to get thrown out, chances are she'd be right along side him. She giggled as the boy covered his mouth with his hand, pouting. "Good luck with that."


"Let's go sit down,"

She sat down in a chair and glanced around. Ooh, Dickens and Bronte. Oh, and Austen! Lovely. She turned to Rex with a grin, glad that he'd thought to come here.

"Cuz' Rio likes to read,"

Rio grinned back at Rex, blushing slightly. "Well, kind of..." She said, ducking her head. She always felt like she was bragging, when she said how much she liked to read. It made her feel bad.

"I had a feeling. Why do I feel like this outing was a Bad Idea?

"Good luck with that."

Muse laughed when Rio said that, cause she knew that Rex couldn't stay quiet for long, and looked over at him with a smile as she sat in the chair she was in earlier placing the forgotten romance novel on her lap again gently this time as to not anger the already irate librarians.

"Cuz' Rio likes to read,"

"Well, kind of..."

Muse smiled and nodded, "Readings good, sometimes it helps ya forget for a while, I used to read all the time, now the only thing I really read is the papes, it's hard to find a good headline sometimes." She shrugged and ran her hand threw her hair, "Gotta read the story to make up a catchy one." She laughed a bit and looked at the two then down at the book she had in her hand reading the name of the writer. With a shrug she held it out to Rio, "Don't know if it's any good, but it's Jane Austen."

*New Day*

The library. Here was someplace Emily surprisingly hadn't been a a while. It was unlike her to go two days without stepping foot into the place, but make believe was something short on her list of priorities as of late. Still, as she sat by the window, it wasn't a book that she read but a newspaper.

Goldie walked by the window chairs. Did she want to sit by the window? No, she had a paper to write for admissions, she didn't need distractions. But then she saw a girl holding a newspaper. She could've smacked herself! How did she forget to go sell papers? That was her job! And on top of it, she should read them more...

Did New York papers report violence in Georgia or Chicago? Would one day they mention a Freeman? Goldie sat down gently across from the girl and softly touched her arm. "Excuse me, is there anythin' interestin' in that paper?" Goldie asked quietly, not wanting to be scolded for making noise in a library. She was just glad to be allowed inside.
