*New Day*
Catherine held her umbrella over her head to protect her fair skin from the sun. Even in such a leisurely enviroment, she sat up straight as she was rowed along the pond in a row boat, while recieving her lessons from the family tutor. She was the picture of perfection on the outside, but on the inside she longed for something more. She looked out over the pond at the children running around having fun and sighed.

*New Day*
Shadows of the slowly setting sun drifted over Central park by the time Reeves and Catherine reached there. They walked slowly through the park, and Reeves lingered over the little small bridge, which had a perfect view of the pond, where the little ducklings swam, and the suns reflection shimmered.
Reeves didn't say anything, but it wasn't a bad silence. He just liked being with Catherine. He just hoped she didn't hear his heart breaking every time she spoke. He just couldn't get over the fact that he probably wouldn't see her again. She was just everything to Reeves. She was kind, gracious, gentle, not self seeking, beautiful, graceful, she was everything.
He looked down into his own reflection, a skinny medium height boy with a dirt smudged face and messy brown hair, his gray vest hanging open, his cap tipped to the side and then at Catherine's beautiful perfect reflection. He sighed slightly, trying to hide how sad he felt.

Catherine stood with her arms folded, resting on the arch of the bridge, She looked at the receding sun beyond the horizon and admired the sky's radiating hues of pink and orange. She would often stand outsider her balcony at home and watch the sun set, but right now it seemed like she was looking at a different sun; whole different sky entirely.
She looked down at the into the water at Reeve's reflection. His eyes reflected a sadness that mirrored her own. It could not be helped. The realization of their situation continued to make itself known each time there was a silence between them. Yet, somewhere something inside her allowed her to smile in spite of herself.
"Seth..." She paused looking over at him. "It doesn't have to be this way."

"Seth..." She paused looking over at him. "It doesn't have to be this way."
Reeves looked up into her smiling face with a confused and hopeless expression.
"What do you mean? Catherine, you didn't even have to say it, we don't belong together. It don't matter how I feel or what you feel, they won't understand..." Seth trailed off, hurt apparent on his face.

"But do you not see?" Catherine sighed almost defiantly. "Whether they understand or not, it does not matter to me. Let them say what they will."
She was speaking more on impulse than anything else, which was rare for her, but she refused to have this be their last meeting simply because of class. He was of the working class and she was not.

"But do you not see? Whether they understand or not, it does not matter to me. Let them say what they will"
"Yeah but that don't mean we...you still have to worry bout' your family reputation and all, if your father looses his position or is talked about cuz' a me, and if Henry catches us...Catherine, this ain't some fairy tale, they catch me with you and they'll explode."
Reeves wanted to be brave and defiant like Catherine, but he still couldn't help but be be unsure and paranoid about the whole thing. He just didn't want Catherine to get hurt.

Catherine moved her hands to the collar of his shirt then down to his vest. "So let them. Allow it." Her voice shook and for a second it even sounded like she might cry, but no tears ever fell. She touched his cheek softly. "Far worse is it to be without you."

"So let them. Allow it.Far worse is it to be without you ."
He looked into her eyes, and he knew she was right, he leaned in and kissed her gently. "I love you Catherine Woodworth, and don't you forget it."

She kissed him and wrapped her arms around him just enjoying his arms around her. After a moment she whispered softly in his ear, "I love you."
Three simple words that met so much. She just hoped they weren't making a mistake.

"I love you."
He smiled at her and then said, "Hey, maybe I'll get deliveries for your house again sometime, wouldn't that be grand? I could see good ol' Henry again," He smirked and shook his head.

At the mention of her brother Henry, Catherine gasped. She had almost forgot the deal with her father. "Seth, what is the time?"

He looked around, realizing Evening was falling fast. Catherine looked awful worried. He pulled out his pocket watch and flipped it open.
"It's bout' ten to six," He told her worriedly, she probably had to get home quick, and he hadn't told his sister anything about where his wherabouts would be after he finished his route. She would be hankering after him too.

It wasn't incredibly far from Central Park to her home along Fifth Avenue, but it wasn't just around the corner either. She figured it would take her all of the ten minutes, give or take, to get there.
"I'm afraid our time together has come to an end, then," she said lowering her head.

"I'm afraid our time together has come to an end, then,"
"Yeah, I guess t' has," He sighed a little regrettably. "Well there will be deliveries for the Woodruffs again maybes, and well...don't worry, we'll see each other again."
He took her hand, kissing her one last time.
"But for now, you better head, m' darling, if you don't want yar father and Henry to be on your case," He smiled sadly. "My sister Alice's waiting on me prolly too."

Catherine smiled sadly as he kissed her hand, knowing she would see him again. She just hoped it wouldn't be too long.
"And I wouldn't dream of getting you in trouble with your sister." She smiled, laughing a bit. She kissed him on the cheek once more before turning to leave, not letting go of his hand until the distance allowed it.
