Magenta had been going to the Distribution Center looking for her brother, but couldn't find him. Then suddenly, she saw someone from behind, thinking it was her brother, she started to run up to him.
She slipped on a newspaper, and when she stood up, she saw that it wasn't her brother, but a boy who looked around her age. Her whole face was burning and she finally coughed out, "Sorry, I thought you were my brother." She looked at him and thought he was pretty cute, but she wasn't really in the mood for a relationship, only if the boy was sweet, nice, caring and thoughtful. Also, she didn't like how newsies lied. She was very against lying, and if she caught her brother doing it, he wouldn't be very happy.

"Sorry, I thought you were my brother."
The commotion behind Rainier had to do with a girl slipping on a newspaper. He didn't quite know exactly how she'd had the bad luck for that to happen, but whoever it was was short a paper and thus half a cent gone. In response to her, he gave a slight shrug. "Could happen to anyone," he said quietly. He wasn't unfriendly, but he usually didn't talk too much.

"Could happen to anyone,"
Standing up, she walked over to him. "I'm Magenta, I'm a Queens newsie...well, I don't sell anymore because of the raise of the papers, but.." She noticed she was just running her mouth ahead of her, and she blushed a brighter shades of red. Holding out a hand for him to shake, she smiled.

"I'm Magenta, I'm a Queens newsie...well, I don't sell anymore because of the raise of the papers, but.."
He didn't exactly like the fact that she was talking so much, but he couldn't say anything. Just like he didn't want people on his case because he didn't talk, he couldn't say anything to people to did. He shrugged. "The price hike don't bother me," he said with a shrug. "I gotta make money, don't I?" He realized as she held out her hand that he hadn't introduced himself. "Rainier," he mumbled, and gave her hand a brief shake.

"The price hike don't bother me, I gotta make money, don't I? Rainier,"
She nodded her head in agreement. "Ya, ya do. I'll be right back. " She walked up to the desk and bought 50 papers. She thanked the guy then strolled her way back down to Rainier. "Well, I was tryin' ta find my brother, but I can't. Have ya seen a boy who has short blond hair, blue eyes, pale skin and is kind of your height?" She asked him, looking around the Distribution Center. She doesn't want Melody to get in trouble, and if he does, then so does she for not watching him.

"Ya, ya do. I'll be right back. " She walked up to the desk and bought 50 papers.
As she approached him again, Rainier raised an eyebrow at her, confused. "Didn't you just say you don't sell anymore...?" He wondered if he'd heard wrong, which he doubted.
"Well, I was tryin' ta find my brother, but I can't. Have ya seen a boy who has short blond hair, blue eyes, pale skin and is kind of your height?"
Me, Rainier thought with a chuckle, but didn't make the joke aloud. He wasn't quite in a joking mood...the money from the price hike had cleaned him out, and that hadn't put him in the best mood. "Haven't seen him," he answered honestly. He didn't try to keep track of the other newsies too much. He had to look out for himself, and he didn't know about anyone else, but as of now they weren't really significant to him.

"Didn't you just say you don't sell anymore...?"
She gave a sly smile. "Ya, well, I just thought I should, since my brother doesn't, I have to keep him alive more than me.." Giving a glare to no one, she was wondering what her brother could be doing.
"Haven't seen him,"
"Oh, ok." Magenta was confused at why he chuckled, but decided to put it off to the side at the moment. "So, have ya found any good headlines?"

"Ya, well, I just thought I should, since my brother doesn't, I have to keep him alive more than me.."
Rainier's only response was a shrug. To each his own. He wondered if Magenta would ever find this brother she was looking for. Was he even around here? Rainier had seen plenty of kids looking for lost siblings, and some were even hopeful enough to look for them right in their own backyards, but oftentimes that didn't yield any results. He was about to ask if her brother was around her anywhere, but then fell silent quickly. He didn't want to know.
"So, have ya found any good headlines?"
He shook his head. "No," he said shortly. "But I'll work with what I can find." He would get a few headlines memorized and then yell them according to who was walking down the street near his selling spot at the time. Little old ladies wouldn't be interested in economy news, and businessmen wouldn't want to read about gossip. It was one of the secrets of the trade Rainier had learned along with his friend Harry when they'd lived in Brooklyn. He tried not to think about Harry too much...

"No, But I'll work with what I can find."
"Yeah...it really sickens me how people lie, it's so, annoyin'." She mumbled the last part more to herself, but wasn't so sure Rainier heard.

*NEW DAY*
Gemma wandered in to the distribution center, hovered by the pick-up for a few minutes, then finally decided to start with buying 20 papes. Hey, she didn't want to take any risks her first day. She frowned at her small amount of change, even though it was more than average, she wasn't sure how long it was going to last. Unless she wanted to take more than one job, she'd better be good at this paper-selling business. She frowned as she skimmed through the headlines, trying to think of what a more seasoned newsies would make of them.

>>New Day<<
Joe leaned against the wall striking a match on the brick. Snick. His eyes watched the crowd. He waited.

Prince sauntered up to Distribution along side a small boy. Since everyone agreed to travel in pairs she made sure that she was keeping track of someone. At the sight of Joe she slowed her roll. "Go on and catch up with Calico," she said in her deep voice. "You and me will still sell today," she handed the boy some money. "Get all the papers this'll buy," she said with a sincere smile. "I'll catch up with ya soon," she said.
Once the boy was in line beside Calico she walked over to Joe and lit a cigarette. "Ain't seen you in a while... ain't seen you in Queens in a long while," she said before taking a drag and blowing smoke into the air. "And shouldn't you be with someone?" she asked with a small glare. "Jus because you're an older boy don't mean ya safe neither." Actually it did. If they couldn't get Lucky, Joe was very safe. But she didn't want to say what she was really thinking was that Joe should be looking after some of the other newsies in his borough lest move of them get hurt. But she wouldn't say that.

"Sweets is back." Joe said taking a drag of his cigarette as he let it burn and give him the much needed kick. He ignored what she said. He wasnt going to argue with her. He knew what she was getting at and could feel her frustration. but he knew it was better this way. He could travel the Burroughs faster if he was by himself. He could also step in if something was happening without thought of someone else he had to protect. Reaction time was faster. Hell of a lot faster. It was also easier for him to watch those he...SHIT he couldnt even think it...those he kept under his wing, mainly the Brooks but there were others around as well. So he just nodded at her "Concern" and handed her his smoke.
"How Queens holdin up, love?" He softened the last part so no one outside of them could hear it. He knew that he hadnt been there for awhile, and knew that stung her pride a little. It wasnt his intention. Hell a lot of things weren't what he intended them to be.

Her eyes and ears perked up a little bit as she looked over at him. "Sweets made it back okay?" She smiled a little. "Well I'll be damned... guess my information about the trains leavin' late at night ain't worth too awful much now," she chuckled. But she didn't care! Sweets had made it back, in one piece, and hopefully remembered where she had come from, and how she'd gotten back! This was great news! Finally a step forward, a big step forward.
The smile still on her lips she didn't even mind the love at the end of his sentence. She looked over at him and the smile faded a touch. After all, it wasn't the best news. "It's been rough. A lotta the kids are havin' to look after little ones, things are goin'... okay, we're managin' of course... just wish we didn't have ta manage at all, is all." She sighed a little before taking another long drag of her cigarette. "How's Lucky doin' after gettin' that beatin'?" she asked hoping the girl was alright.

~New~
Moscow stood looking at the distribution center. He had had trouble getting here in the first place, and now... He didn't know what to do. "Help me, Grandmudder!" He pleaded, like he always did when he was in trouble, to his Grandmother.
The center was pretty deserted. Moscow figured because it was probably afternoon, but he had missed the morning addition and he needed money. His pocket of only twenty cents proved this. How was he supposed to eat? Or for that matter, rent his room tonight? He shook his head, and waited for other Newsies to show him what to do...
