"I suppose you'd have to kill me, I'm incredibly stubborn especially when it comes to someone as interesting as you." He offered her a wink as he walked on. She was so light it was no strain on him at all to carry her. In fact, she felt incredible in his arms and it took all his restraint not to try to touch her bum again. It wasn't that he was a pervert, she was just shaped a lot nicer than any other woman he'd ever met. "Then again if you killed me I think some of my friends might have a bone to pick with you."
He gave her a wink to show he was kidding and continued on. They weren't far from the house and he had no intention of putting her down so when she said to and that she'd walk to the lodging house herself he merely shook her head. "Why? It'll just bother you more and then I'll really start hovering over you." He grinned and continued on completely content with her in his arms, even when she was fighting him like a bat out of hell.

You ever touch her again, I'm gonna have to kill ya. The sudden reminder of Danny's last words to her made the fire die slowly from her eyes. She could try to fool herself all she wanted, but she knew she couldn't forget him. This was the first time anyone she had cared about hated her so much, because it was the first time she had allowed herself to care about anyone. As a result, she had let down the stone wall she'd erected around herself, and had become weak. Her weakness frightened her. With so many older brothers always challenging her, and a town opposed to how she lived, and then the unforgiving city she lived in, she could never afford to be weak. Now she had no choice. Because she had let someone in, and they hadn't wanted her...
She hadn't noticed that, while her thoughts took over, she had stopped her efforts to escape Soothsayer's hold. Coming back to the here and now, she looked at him, and then to the path ahead of them. She had no way of knowing what the Queens lodging house looked like. She squirmed again in his hold. "Let me walk, dammit. We're not far from it..." She had no idea how far they were. But she could try to fight. If Smarty no longer fought for her independence, then who was she?

Soothsayer was suprised when Smarty stopped squirming in his arms, but just took it as a sign that maybe she was getting a little more used to him. Then again from the look on her face it didn't look like she was paying much attention to what was going on. It looked like she was too lost in thought to even say some snide remark that he'd grown accustomed to her saying.
When she finally did start squirming they were only a couple of blocks from the lodging house so he put her down when she asked. "You're right we're only a few blocks away. I suppose I can let you walk the rest of the way." He gave her a smirk and walked beside her.

Smarty had never been so glad to have her feet touch the ground, though her knee wasn't thanking her any. But as soon as she was free, her mind began to go to work. She had been given an inch. And she would take a mile. Running was out of the question; she was usually fast, but she knew Soothsayer was just as fast as her, and the pain in her knee could slow her down. The goal was not to go down without a fight. In Brooklyn, and at her old home, violence was often the answer. Something in her hated to do it, but she would ignore that. What little remained of her dignity was at risk.
She walked a few paces, and then lashed out suddenly, grabbing Soothsayer's collar in both fists and shoving him with her bodyweight against the brick wall of the building to one side of them. Fairly satisfied she had him pinned, she sneered mockingly, "Sorry, should have warned you I play dirty. Now here's how it's gonna go. I'm gonna leave you here, and I'm gonna go my merry way. You're not gonna follow me. I don't need my knee bandaged, I don't need you, I don't need anyone or anything. If you try anything, I will--"

The last thing Sooth was expecting was for her to attack him, but after it happened he supposed he should have known she wasn't going to just go easily with him. She was after all Brooklyn and they didn't do anything without a fight that they didn't want to do. The girl was stronger than she looked and when she slammed him into the wall he felt his oxygen being cut off. He didn't pay much attention to her words as he thought of what to do to get her off him without hurting her more.
He brought his arms up quickly, ripping her arms away from his throat in the process. The quickest and easiest way to get her to the house without hurting her was to toss her over his shoulder and that's exactly what he did. He swiftly grabbed her around the waist bent over a bit and tossed her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. "Go on and fight, love, I promise not to drop you." He laughed and started walking as if nothing had happened. He fully expected her to fight and would in fact be disappointed if she didn't.
((Sorry I kind of took liberties with the fact that he was able to easily pick her up. If you want to change anything just put it in your post and I'll fix this one to fit.))

Smarty had no idea was he was doing until it was done. Once she realized what he was doing, she called him every foul name she could think of, and a few she made up. She swore up and down, beat his back with her fists, and tried to kick him in the face with a lucky shot from the heel of her bare foot (maybe wearing shoes had its benefits in times like these). Again, she didn't care if she fell to the pavement. If he carried her into anywhere like this, he could expect a black eye or worse the next time an opportunity arose.

Soothsayer smirked as she beat her fists against his back and tried to kick him in the face. She almost succeeded a couple of times and probably would have if she'd been able to see where she was kicking. As it was he had to use his free hand to keep her legs from doing any more damage. He continued on his way smiling at the people staring at him, "Lover's quarrel..."
