(New Day For Piper)
Drifter opened the door to the restaurant letting Piper in first, "We can go ta Tibby's if ya want?" He said to her making his way towards the high tables in the back. He'd been to Stu's a few times when he was able to pay for it. Today he was going to be able too, on their way over here he "accidentally" run into a well off gent that had been walking with what he was sure was his wife and was able to make off with his wallet. "Just making sure we'll have enough money." He said with a smile.
"I just thought I'd take ya out of Manhattan for a while," Drifter said scratching the back of his neck, he seemed to start thinking that it was a bad idea. He didn't want her to have to worry about those boys that were looking at her at the park so he thought that leaving Manhattan for a while would make her feel better.

Piper walked into the restaurant with Drifter and he lead her to the high chairs in the back of the place. She has been in Stu's once or twice, it was a real joint and she liked that about the place. There was plenty of people in the joint as Piper sat down with Drifter at their spot.
Piper saw Drifter was uneasy about the situation, since he got her out of the park away from the eyes of those boys. Piper only smiled at him and took his hand in hers, feeling how warm it was to her and she liked it.
"THis is perfect, thank you." She replied simply and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and smiled after doing it. She did want to give him a kiss sometime that day and she was glad she did already.

"THis is perfect, thank you."
Drifter gave a small sigh of relief as she said that it was perfect and squeezed her hand that was now held in his own. He smiled brightly at her and then blushed when she gave him a kiss on the cheek, pulling out a chair for her he looked around the restaurant. It was pretty busy in here today so it would probably take a few to get their orders.
Going around the table he scooted a chair out for himself and took a seat. "Have ya been here before?" He asked, he didn't know if she had. "I always get the stew, its really good." He smiled at her as he leaned on the table. He in no way had any table manners, at least not anymore. "So whats there to talk about?"

Piper smiled and looked at the surroundings around her. It seemed like a real bar, not like Tibbys were is was nice and mellow. Here there was noise, people of different diversities, and maybe a fight. That didn't scare Piper at all, she wasn't the typical girl of New York.
"Never been here, but it looks like my type of pub." Piper replied to him and smiled, hearing about how good the stew was there. She pushed some of the hair out of her eyes, looking around at the place.
"Well you heard from me, what about you? Did you get by without getting hurt and all? I heard many Newsies are getting hurt and being taken for no apparent reason." Piper asked aloud as she looked over at him.

Drifter watched as her eyes scanned around the place, he knew it was different then being in Tibby's. But he was glad that he had brought her here, sometimes a change of scene was needed and it seemed to be cheering her but a bit.
He smiled at her and took her hand across the table. "You'll like it here I think." He said as he rubbed his thumb over her hand. "It's a lot noisier then Tibby's huh?" Drifter felt like if he didn't speak a little louder she wouldn't be able to hear him at all.
"I'm fine," Drifter said shrugging it off a bit, "I've gotten inta a few scraps here and there but over all nothing ta serious," Smiling at her he chuckled a bit trying to keep the conversation on the bright side. "And as ya see I'm still here. But other then that, lately it's been like any other day, get up, sell papes, walk around, go home. Nothing ta interesting really."

Piper smiled when he talked about Stu's and how it was louder then Tibby's. It was louder, rougher, and a fight was going to break out soon. But hey, Piper grew up around it and she liked a wee bit of danger in her life.
"I see about the scratches." She replied, tracing some of the scratches and marks on his face and smiled, feeling how warm his face was, " Good thing you're in one piece eh? That sounds like my kind of day, get up in the morning, sell me papes, and then cruise around for awhile."

Drifter looked around the place smiling at everything, he stopped for a few seconds to watch if the fight was going to happen but quickly lost interest and turned back to the girl in front of him. He smiled at her and squeezed her hand.
"Yeah," He laughed as she ran her finger over them, the cuts didn't hurt anymore which was a good thing he was just waiting for them to go away, he was sure a few scars would remain in there place but he didn't care. Drifter nodded a bit still laughing, "Yeah I like bein' in one piece," He said scratching the back of his neck before taking her hand again. "I was hopin' ta come see ya sooner but with the kids vanishing things have been kinda hectic huh?"

"It was more than hectic near our place. Jack Kelly told us not to go out at night and if we had to go in large groups. It was almost as if we were in lockdown." Piper explained to him. There were nights when she couldn't sleep because of the fear of someone taking her or someone she knew, or something bad was going to happen to her or her newsie comrads.
"Hopefully the kids that were taken are safe somewhere." Piper said aloud to him and squeezed his hand.

Drifter nodded his head as he listened to Piper, it was a good idea that the Manhattan leader had put a sort of lock down on the lodging house, with all the kids disappearing it would be stupid not too. "Go out at night is a bad idea," He said looking her in the eye, he didn't want anything to happen to her or anyone else.
Giving her hand a squeeze in return he gave her an encouraging smile, "I'm sure their fine, I have a feeling that they'll be home soon."

"Im sure they are fine too, they just need to look out for each other." Piper said aloud to add in with his comment. Some Newsies were tough as nails and were street smart. But others were scared, lost and confused and where to go and who to turn to. Piper felt like she needed to find those young Newsies, those who had no idea that they were in real danger. She needed to find them and keep them safe.
But she knew she had to look out for herself. Drifter was going to kill her, along with Jack kelly and any other Manhattan boys if they knew she would be venturing out to find the lost newsies.
"You think someone is going to try and find them?" Piper asked in curiosity.
