"Why donna you leave." Joe said more in a statement then a question his eyes not really focused on the chit before him, but watching the hoity toity's getting on and off the train. Taking another drag, he cracked his neck sighing in relief and blew away the smoke. "Whats holdin youse." he said, he meant nothing by this, honestly he didnt give a damn. Joe wasnt going to argue with something that worked for him. He shrugged and offered the cigarette to Prince. "Soire Queens Newsies could be split inta othah buroughs, na offense."
(honestly Joe means no offense by what he is saying, its just conversation to him.)

She took the cigarette gladly. For all she knew this guy didn't know she was a girl, even though he did... but she didn't know, so she just played it off cool for now. She took a drag on it and blew smoke in the air. "none taken," she said handing it back to him, happy to have the vice once in a while. "Got no where else I'd care ta go I guess," she said with a shrug to him. "Seems like at this point anyway, no mattah where I go in New York ain't no body wanna see me... better off jumpin' off the bridge, and gettin' it ovah with," she said as only half a joke. Why hang around, when you aren't doin' anyone any good?
((Heh, no worries, it's okay. prince is in too sour of a mood to really get mad at anyone, for just suggesting somethin. she's mad at the world, so she means no offense with anything she might say either. But he's in the world... and she hates the world! Nothing personal between you and I!))

"Poah you." Joe stated shrugging. He didnt feel that melancholy had a place on the streets. It was a waste of words, emotion and time.
better off jumpin' off the bridge, and gettin' it ovah with
"wouldna try that." Joe nodded taking a drag all the while his eyes not leaving the crowd before them. "dat force dat youah body hits da watah will make ya inta human slush. Den where will da Brooks swim?" he said with no infliction and blew out the smoke, one corner of his lips twitching up.

"You're real funny guy," she said tone dripping with sarcasm. "An' for ya information, I ain't lookin' for sympathy or nothin'. I'm just talkin', don't need nor want you feelin' sorry for me. It was a statement, a fact a life at the moment. I don't care."
She looked away from him and towards the crowed of people. "But thanks for the advice... I'll be sure ta jump inta another river than, shall I?" she asked again with sarcasm, and a smile starting to form on her lips as well.

I don't care
"Yeah? doubtful." Joe just looked drolly at her before turning his attention away.
"A body doesn't say somethin NOT wantin a reaction. 'It's human nature, 'specially wit dolls. Or dats what experience has said" Joe shrugged and took a drag letting the nicotine sit in his lungs before he let it out. "But who am i ta argue wit a dame." Joe smiled charmingly.
'll be sure ta jump inta another river than, shall I?
"Be much obliged ta ya Prince." Joe said straightly, lips twitching as a woman 'seemingly' bumped into him, Joe winked at her and sent her on her way, the woman's bracelet and money purse now in his possession. Leaning he took another drag and tipped his hat again down over his eyes as he smiled unabashedly charming at Prince. He really was a scoundrel.

Prince was close to protesting at his previous statement, before he mentioned that she was a dame. So he did know then huh? Well, she would be careful, and if he continued, she'd call him on it again. After all, she appeared to be a boy for a reason. And he was not helping her keep her low profile. Instead, she decided to drop the subject of caring or not, and moved on to the next.
As she glanced up at him, she caught him looking at her, with a charming smile none the less. It didn't really phase prince. Prince wasn't one for crushes, or falling in love. Especially when it was with another boy, in broad daylight, while she looked to be a boy as well. The surrounding crowed might thing wrong things. "That was smooth," she said instead. "What I mean, is that..." she said nodding to the bracelet and purse. "Quick how you did that, not bad." She wasn't one for stealing, but she wouldn't get angry at those who did do it. No reason to in this world.

Joe shrugged. He could read all the things that crossed her face. It was his job, what he was good at, reading people. Its how he made his living. It be a Newsie or a Theif you had to be able to read people. So he would tone it down. He understood not wanting people to notice something that wasnt quite right. Smoothly he shrugged and his charming smile was now aimed at the girl behind prince getting on the train going the opposite way.
"Not Bad? Och you wound me lad." He smirked and took another drag. "I could pinch somethin off Conlon's wit out him bein none da wiser." Smoothly he pulled out Prince's bracelet he had taken off her, before when she had ran into him. He liked the challenge of returning things without someone realizing they were no longer there. It kept him good. "Donna worry" he said under his breath as he blew out the smoke " I nevah keep what i steal, its all returned to da ownah befoah dey realize its gone."

She had meant it to be a compliment, but was shocked beyond all belief when he pulled out her bracelet. She quickly grabbed for it to replace it to her wrist. How had he done that? "Okay... dammit you're real good," she admitted. Honestly, she hadn't expected such skill. She quickly slid the gold bracelet back onto her wrist and clasped it once more, before anyone could recognize a boy putting on jewelry. She would have to watch it around him. next thing he'd steal her hat and reveal her all together. She gave him credit for cuttin' the dame stuff though. That she appreciated.

Joe smirked as Prince fumbled in disbelief with her bracelet and took a drag. "Donna worry no ones watchin...i'd know" he bumped his shoulder to hers and offered his cigarette to her. She was a sweet thing. Bit gruff but easy to read and from what he saw sweet. "Calm youah self, fast movements draw eyes." He supplied in a calming murmur knowing she was worried about revealing her identity. Though he hadnt figured out the why, just yet.

Prince had no other choice but to take the guy's advice. She took a calm deep breath, and relaxed. She slipped the bracelet up her arm and out of sight again. After which, she accepted the cigarette once more. "Thanks," she said. She took a drag and simply held the breath for a moment to get herself calmed back down before exhaling the puff of smoke into the atmosphere. She had needed that.
She got herself into a calm state, yet still a rather active temper. She usually wasn't such a mean person. Usually she'd be a rather sweet soul, even more than she was at the moment. Just... well at the moment, as previously stated, she was mad at the world, and he was in it. So she just wasn't in the best of moods. But everyone's aloud their bad days right?
"So what brings you out this cold... far too windy winter day?" she asked glancing up at him as she returned the cigarette. She figured she would at the very least attempt to be a tad more congenial.

So what brings you out this cold... far too windy winter day?
Joe looked her over once to make sure she had settled then turned his enigmatic eyes away. He took the cigarette back bringing it to his lips and let the nicotine and cold air his his lung. Then shrugged.
"Keepin me fingah nimble and me ears sharp" his lip twitched upward. "You?" he asked as he began to walk down the yard area nodding his head to signal her to walk with him. One hand holding the cigarette and the other in his pocket to keep warm.

She followed after him, she'd rather have the conversation than sell anywhat. She still had the 10 papers in her hand. She was thinking that instead, she may throw them into the river. Waste of a good 5 cents, but at this point, she wasn't really interested in the alternative 10 cents. "Same ol'," she said motioning with the papers in her hand to show just what she meant. A gust of wind picked up and hit her freezing her face to what felt like solid ice, still she kept a hold of the papers. For now anyway. "Damn it's cold," she added as she attempted to pull her coat in tighter around her.

Joe took the papers from her and handed her 5 cents. "Theah now put yoah hands in yoah pockets and warm them." Joe shook his head at Prince. He really didnt understand loosing comfort over money. It was just idiocy. You werent going to make any money if you arent comfortable. "Ya want to head inside or keep walkin?" Joe had learned long ago to let the lady decide. Even if said lady didnt want to be treated like one. Joe took at drag of his cigarette and threw the papers into the river.

Damn hospitality, or what ever the hell you call what he just did. She stared at him for a moment and then stuffed her hands in her pockets without the hesitation. What was this guys deal? "Well I dunno about you, but you'd be a fool ta stay out here when indoors was the other option," she said and headed for the nearest place they could get warm.

Joe smirked. He liked keeping people guessing it showed more of them than it did of him. "No one evah said ise was a fool." Joe winked at her "Dough some ottah names have been given ta me." He took one last drag flicking it onto the ground he ground it out with his foot.
